Food Prices Are Soaring And Washington Doesn't Care

Food Prices Are Soaring And Washington Doesn't Care:
"Today’s economy is driven by Washington in more than just determining the location of Maserati dealerships.
We see the ramifications of current government policies in numerous obvious ways.
Make full-time employment more expensive with required benefits, and suddenly there are more part-time jobs; provide ample benefits and low eligibility standards for defining disabled workers, and suddenly there are more long-term unemployed going on SSDI; keep interest rates at zero, and suddenly there are more elderly workers; end unemployment insurance, and suddenly you see people accepting jobs they were reluctant to take; and as we’ve seen at the state and local level, raise the minimum wage, and suddenly teens are struggling to find work.
...U.S. food prices are on the rise, raising a sensitive question: When the cost of a hamburger patty soars, does it count as inflation? It does to everyone who eats and especially poorer Americans, whose food costs absorb a larger portion of their income. But central bankers take a more nuanced view. They sometimes look past food-price increases that appear temporary or isolated while trying to control broad and long-term inflation trends, not blips that might soon reverse…

The consumer price of ground beef in May rose 10.4% from a year earlier while pork chop prices climbed 12.7%. The price of fresh fruit rose 7.3% and oranges 17.1%. But prices for cereals and bakery products were up just 0.1% and vegetable prices inched up only 0.5%. The U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts overall food prices will increase 2.5% to 3.5% this year after rising 1.4% in 2013, as measured by the Labor Department’s consumer-price index. In a typical supermarket, shoppers are seeing higher prices around the store’s periphery, in the produce section and at the meat counter.

"A federal judge scolded State Department attorneys during a tense hearing last week, ordering officials to produce Hillary Clinton-related records that The Associated Press has been requesting for years.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon said he wants to “find out what’s been going on” at the State Department,” or rather, “what’s not been going on over there” "

Obama to Protect Illegal Aliens Based on “Accrual of Unlawful Presence” in U.S.

Obama to Protect Illegal Aliens Based on “Accrual of Unlawful Presence” in U.S. - Judicial Watch: "Three years after the Obama administration quietly rewarded illegal immigrants with “unlawful presence waivers” it has a new plan in the works to shield them from deportation based on the “accrual of unlawful presence” in the United States.
That’s right; illegal aliens with the longest record of violating our laws will be rewarded by our government, according to the proposed plan obtained by Judicial Watch this month from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
It’s all part of the president’s mission to grant amnesty to as many illegal immigrants as possible before he leaves office. This includes special executive programs created to help illegal aliens brought to the U.S. as children and “family reunification” measures that shield relatives and spouses of a broad range of immigrants.

Mom Arrested for 'Abandoning' Kids in Food Court While She Watched Them from 30 Yards Away - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
"A woman let her two young children wait in a mall food court while she interviewed for a job a mere 30 yards away.
The children never left her sight.
This made little difference to the police, who promptly arrested her for child abandonment.
Child protective services is looking into the matter, according to KHOU:
Laura Browder said she had her 6-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son with her at Memorial City Mall for a job interview because she didn’t have enough time to line up child care.
Browder sat her children down inside the food court near a McDonald’s and went to her interview, she said.
The interview wasn’t for a job at the mall, but the food court was a meeting ground for each party.
Browder said she wasn’t more than 30 feet away from her children at any point and they were always in her line of sight.
After Browder returned to her children, a police officer was on scene and arrested her.
The arrest came moments after Browder had accepted a job.
She said she’s unsure how her arrest that day will affect her opportunity with that job..."

FCC Commissioner ‘Outraged’ At What CBS4 Investigation Revealed About Free Phone Program

FCC Commissioner ‘Outraged’ At What CBS4 Investigation Revealed About Free Phone Program « CBS Denver:
"Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Ajit Pai says a CBS4 probe of a government cellphone program revealed fraud, waste and abuse in the government’s Lifeline cellphone program that he called “shocking.”
“The CBS4 story highlighted the fact that in places there are no safeguards, workers are signing up people using fraudulent certifications,” said Pai, one of five FCC commissioners.
...“This is an FCC program, and if we don’t take action, fraud like this will persist,” said Pai.
The 2014 CBS4 investigation showed repeated instances of fraudulent activity and waste in the Lifeline program in Denver.
...Vendors typically receive $3 for every phone they are able to give out. In other cases, vendors said a CBS4 producer could simply show someone else’s electronics benefit card in order to secure a free phone and service.
Pai said when he played the report June 18 for the public and his four fellow commissioners, “There was an audible gasp as you were able to get service based on someone else’s EBT card for example...”

Sabotage

By Tammy Derouin

The word sabotage has come to mind countless times over the past seven years.  How and why did we elect someone who was so determined to destroy our country?   So many signs were available, but they went unnoticed.

Prior to his first election, the executive was working against the American people.  His anti-American beliefs were well established before he landed on the national stage.  His books and the occasional video clip from the past of him expressing his beliefs, drip with incriminating evidence.  Where was the press?  Why did someone who promised transparency hide so much of his very own history?

The press, unbeknownst to most, had already begun its transformation as a lackey for the ruling party. The press went from uncovering evidence and exposing corruption to burying it as deep as they possibly could.  They went from seeking and fighting for the truth, to turning tail and running scared.  I can almost envision them playing Hot Potato with pesky facts when they became too obvious to ignore.

I can see the newsroom.  Alarms sound as red lights flash.  The lackeys on duty run around in a panic. It’s a fact!  It’s a fact!  Take it!  Get it away from me!  I don’t want anything to do with it!  Then the reality kicks in.  Because the alarms sounded, the boss is on the way.  Antacids are...

Legendary SEAL Marcus Luttrell Seemingly Sends Clear, Four-Word Message to Obama Over Chattanooga Shooting | TheBlaze.com:

"Retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, author and subject of “Lone Survivor,” responded tersely Monday to reports indicating officials have told U.S. Marine recruiters not to wear their uniforms in public as a safety precaution following the deadly Chattanooga attack last week. He also seemingly sent a clear message to President Barack Obama, asking him to order flags lowered to half-staff to honor the the five U.S. servicemen slain in the attack.

In a blunt Facebook post, Luttrell said he"

Michigan GOP targets immigration ‘sanctuaries’

Michigan GOP targets immigration ‘sanctuaries’
Republican state lawmakers want to block cities from sheltering immigrants from federal agents, an effort sparked by the recent shooting death of a California woman by an undocumented immigrant.
They are working on legislation that would bar state funding to communities that adopt so-called “sanctuary city” policies.
More than 200 cities nationwide have adopted policies that shelter people in the U.S. without papers, but only two are in Michigan — Detroit and Ann Arbor.
...democrats and immigration lawyers are opposed to the efforts, saying the proposed ban would damage relations between law enforcement and residents.
...Nationally and in Michigan, the number of federal requests for detainment of immigrants here illegally is on the decline, and it’s unclear why.
ICE requested 100,000 fewer detainers nationwide between 2012 and 2014, a 39 percent decline, according to Justice Department statistics.
In Michigan, the drop is even greater.
Between 2012 and 2014, the number of detainers issued by ICE fell 53 percent.
Only 18 detainer requests were issued to Detroit police precincts during that period.
That’s half as many as the much smaller city of Dearborn...

White House Finally Lowers Flag for Chattanooga Victims | TheBlaze.com:

"Obama at the White House faced scrutiny Monday after the American flags on Capitol Hill were lowered to honor the victims, but not at the White House.

During his remarks at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Tuesday, Obama also mentioned the Chattanooga, Tennessee shooting.

“We don’t yet know all the details behind the attack in Chattanooga, but we do know that al Qaeda and ISIL have encouraged attacks on American soil, including against our service members and this threat of lone wolves and small cells is hard to detect and prevent,” Obama said."

Medical marijuana panel in Michigan is meeting to recommend whether autism should qualify | News - Home:
A meeting to decide whether autism should be recommended as a condition for medical marijuana has ended without a vote.
The Michigan Medical Marijuana Review Panel postponed action Monday to give members more time to study hundreds of pages of research.
The group will meet again July 31.
Supporters say oil extracted from marijuana has been effective in controlling severe physical behavior of children with an extreme form of autism.

Collapsed California bridge earned 'A' rating just last year

Collapsed California bridge earned 'A' rating just last year:
"A 48-year-old bridge that collapsed Sunday in a rain-swollen California desert earned an "A" rating just last year, federal records show.
Inspectors gave the eastbound portion of the Tex Wash Bridge a "sufficiency rating" of 91.5 out of 100, according to the Federal Highway Administration.
The bridge also had one of the highest possible flood safety ratings, which means it should have withstood even the heaviest rainfall.
And then, on Sunday, more than 5 inches of rain fell in the open desert east of the Coachella Valley.
Rushing water flooded into the wash beneath the bridge and ate away at the dirt around the foundations.
Eventually, one end of the eastbound lanes cracked free of the highway and tumbled to the desert floor, cutting the primary route between Arizona and Southern California.
Built in 1967, the Tex Wash Bridge sits on Interstate 10, linking Los Angeles to Phoenix. Located just east of Palm Springs, Calif., the bridge is owned and maintained by the California Department of Transportation, or CalTrans. Officials there said they were investigating how a highly rated bridge managed to fail so spectacularly."

Don't Be Fooled by the Media; This Isn't About Trump

Don't Be Fooled by the Media; This Isn't About Trump | CNS News:
"... In supporting Trump, people are rebelling against political correctness and the refusal of the political class to control our borders.
People are also tired of leftists controlling the narrative and bullying conservatives into silence.
They see Trump as a refreshing figure who is unafraid to fight back.
That doesn't mean they agree with everything he says.
...There is nothing crazy about believing that a sovereign nation ought to control its borders.
There is nothing crazy in insisting that immigration occur through the proper legal channels, which include learning about our uniquely glorious heritage and endorsing the American idea.
Any non-suicidal nation would require these at a minimum.
The federal government's deliberate sabotaging of border control is what is outright nuts.
...Instead of faux fretting over Trump, could we please stay focused on:

  •  Obama's disgraceful nuclear deal with Iran, his attempted end run around Congress by taking it to the United Nations first and his stunning indifference to freeing $150 billion to the diabolical Iranian regime to fund global terrorism?

While we are all scrambling to castigate Trump to prove our moral bona fides,

  • we are ignoring that the federal government subsidizes Planned Parenthood and the group's harvesting of human organs.
  • We are overlooking Obama's pernicious plan for the federal government to amass shockingly detailed information about U.S. citizens for collection in racial databases that will be used to stir up racial discord in the name of "diversity" when Obama leaves office.
  • We are allowing Obama to get away, once again, with refusing to identify the murderer of U.S. service members as a Muslim terrorist.

...If Ronald Reagan were alive today, he and his supporters would be considered crazies and extremists.
Meanwhile, the people who are truly doing crazy stuff have become the new normal.
The ordinarily unflappable traditionalist, America-loving citizens have had it with being vilified and muzzled while real craziness is elevated to normal.
They appreciate Trump's outspokenness in the midst of such widespread cowardice and surrender on our side — even if they don't approve of all his comments..."

Texas!!-----Strictest And Most Lenient States on Speeding and Reckless Driving

Strictest And Most Lenient States on Speeding and Reckless Driving | WalletHub®:

51TexasT - 45T - 50
  • Three quarters of the states have “absolute” speed limits, which means that exceeding the limit is enough evidence for a conviction. But about 25 percent of the states leave room for interpretation with “prima facie” laws — or a “mixed” combination of absolute and prima facie rules — allowing speeders to argue in court that their speed was in fact reasonable.
  • None of the states has mandatory jail time for speeding. However, reckless drivers should expect, on average, to spend at least one day in jail for their first offense and four days for their second offense.
  • In most states drivers are subject to license suspension under a point system. Your first offense might not get your license suspended, but enough accumulation of points will. On average, point penalties for speeding will get you 27 percent closer to a suspension.
  • The average maximum cost of a ticket for reckless driving is $742, with the lowest being $100 (in Kentucky, Mississippi and New Mexico) and the highest at approximately $5,000 (Washington).
  • Almost half (49 percent) of states do not automatically cite drivers for reckless driving based on a specific speed threshold or a specific number of mph over the limit.
  • Nearly a third (29 percent) of states use speed cameras to automatically catch and fine speeding drivers.

Student Visas from Muslim Countries on the Rise

Student Visas from Muslim Countries on the Rise | Conservative Review
How many more potential Islamic terrorists like Mohammad Youssef Adbulazeer are living freely in this country?
And to what extent is our political class going to continue their suicidal policies?
Several months ago, we estimated that roughly 1.62 million individuals from predominantly Muslim countries have emigrated here since 9/11.
We counted all of the green cards issued to foreign nationals of 43 countries with either near-100% Muslim population or an overwhelming majority of Muslims.
While some of these individuals are likely non-Muslims, we noted that it is a pretty fair estimate of the number of Muslim immigrants and coincides with the Pew estimate of 100,000 Muslim immigrants per year.
14% of the annual student visas are from Muslim countries, an even higher share than immigrant visas relative to the total immigrant population.
A quick search and tally of the data at the IIE for the same 43 predominantly Muslim countries reveals that 127,332 student visas were granted to students from these same countries.
Our government does this every year and the trend is only growing.
That means that 14% of the annual student visas are from Muslim countries, an even higher share than immigrant visas relative to the total immigrant population.
Student Visas from Country of Origin
By far, the largest number of visas come from Saudi Arabia (remember 9/11?), topping out at 53,919 for the last academic year.
As we noted last year, the Saudi government has unlimited funds to pay for their international students, and with no caps on F1 visas, they could theoretically send hundreds of thousands of students here every year.
Iran has sent us over 10,000 foreign students as well.
What could go wrong?..."

Feds fail to enforce law so they want new law-----Dem senators call for executive action on gun control

Dem senators call for executive action on gun control | TheHill:
"Connecticut Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, both Democrats, have called on President Obama to take executive action to close a “loophole” in federal gun control legislation.
The so-called “default to proceed” rule under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act allows firearm dealers to sell a weapon to an individual if they have not been notified by the FBI of a buyer’s criminal background within three business days.
If the background check has not been completed within three days, the dealer has discretion to sell the firearm.
...“If we refuse to act, we're just biding time until this happens again."
The criminal background check on Roof was not initiated until two days after Roof first attempted to purchase the gun and did not discover his admission of drug possession until five days later.
FBI Director James Comey told reporters Friday that Roof “should not have been allowed to purchase the gun he allegedly used that evening,” referring to the deadly June 17 attack.
Republicans, however, blame the failure to bar Roof from obtaining a gun on “bureaucratic bungling” and say additional regulation is not necessary.
“It’s disastrous that this bureaucratic mistake prevented existing laws from working and blocking an illegal gun sale.
The facts undercut attempts to use the tragedy to enact unnecessary gun laws,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said in a statement.
An FBI examiner faxed a request for information on Roof’s arrest to the wrong county’s sheriff’s office.
Comey has announced a 30-day investigation into the matter."
