ERICKSON: If You're Reading This, You're Dead | Daily Wire:

Image result for flickr commons images Cemetaries"Republicans on the Federal Communications Commission ended President Obama's "net neutrality" regulations. Those regulations were passed with no reason, but a fear of what might happen to the internet by major corporations. They were not needed. But Democrats declared that their repeal would cause people to die.
Republicans rolled back Barack Obama's individual mandate that forces Americans to buy health insurance whether or not they want it. Statisticians declared Americans would lose their health insurance if the GOP did this, ignoring that those losing health insurance would be those actively choosing to forego an insurance plan. Again, Democrats declared the GOP would cause people to die."

The plan, led by Sens. Charles E. Grassley and John Cornyn, could legalize as many as 1.8 million Dreamers in exchange for some of the biggest enforcement changes in two decades."

Sorry, liberals, Scandinavian countries aren’t utopias | New York Post

Sorry, liberals, Scandinavian countries aren’t utopias | New York Post:
"Want proof that the liberal social-democratic society works?
Look to Denmark, the country that routinely leads the world in happiness surveys.
It’s also notable for having the highest taxes on Earth, plus a comfy social safety net: Child care is mostly free, as is public school and even private school, and you can stay on unemployment benefits for a long time.
See the source imageEveryone is on an equal footing, both income-wise and socially: Go to a party and you wouldn’t be surprised to see a TV star talking to a roofer.
The combination of massive taxes and benefits for the unsuccessful means top and bottom get shaved off: Pretty much everyone is proudly middle class...
In the American liberal compass, the needle is always pointing to places like Denmark.
Everything they most fervently hope for here has already happened there.
So: Why does no one seem particularly interested in visiting Denmark? (“Honey, on our European trip, I want to see Tuscany, Paris, Berlin and . . . Jutland!”)

  • Visitors say Danes are joyless to be around.
  • Denmark suffers from high rates of alcoholism.
  • In its use of antidepressants it ranks fourth in the world. (Its fellow Nordics the Icelanders are in front by a wide margin.)
  • Some 5 percent of Danish men have had sex with an animal.
  • Denmark’s productivity is in decline, its workers put in only 28 hours a week, and everybody you meet seems to have a government job.
  • Oh, and as The Telegraph put it, it’s “the cancer capital of the world.”

So how happy can these drunk, depressed, lazy, tumor-ridden, pig-bonking bureaucrats really be?..."

Turnstile justice? Manhattan eases up on fare jumpers

"NEW YORK (AP) — Fare beaters who hopped over grimy subway turnstiles back in the early 1990s were the first targets of a policing strategy that went after the smallest offenses and was credited with helping to drive crime down to record lows.
So now, a new policy to halt the prosecution of turnstile jumpers in Manhattan has some city officials and riders questioning it as a foolhardy turning back of the clock.
...Critics said the strategy became a pretense to unfairly target poor minorities..."

ANDREW SULLIVAN: We All Live On Campus Now.
...If elites believe that the core truth of our society is a system of interlocking and oppressive power structures based around immutable characteristics like race or sex or sexual orientation, then sooner rather than later, this will be reflected in our culture at large. What matters most of all in these colleges — your membership in a group that is embedded in a hierarchy of oppression — will soon enough be what matters in the society as a whole.

See the source imageAnd, sure enough, the whole concept of an individual who exists apart from group identity is slipping from the discourse. The idea of individual merit — as opposed to various forms of unearned “privilege” — is increasingly suspect. The Enlightenment principles that formed the bedrock of the American experiment — untrammeled free speech, due process, individual (rather than group) rights — are now routinely understood as mere masks for “white male” power, code words for the oppression of women and nonwhites. Any differences in outcome for various groups must always be a function of “hate,” rather than a function of nature or choice or freedom or individual agency. And anyone who questions these assertions is obviously a white supremacist himself.
The biggest loser from this will ultimately be higher education, because of the inevitable reaction. But it’s bad for America, too.
Plus:
An entirely intended byproduct of this kind of bullying — and Roiphe is just the latest victim — is silence. If voicing an “incorrect” opinion can end your career, or mark you for instant social ostracism, you tend to keep quiet...
This is what happens when Gentry Liberals get political power. Which is Trump’s strongest argument in 2018 and 2020."

Russia-Trump Investigation: How Did Hillary Clinton Get FBI, FISA To Do Her Political Dirty Work? | Stock News & Stock Market Analysis - IBD:

Image result for flickr commons images hillary clinton"Recent revelations point to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and a secretive group of supporters and hangers-on both inside and outside of the FBI and Justice Department as having a far deeper personal involvement in the investigation than first thought.
Fears of a politicized and manipulative "deep state" are looking less paranoid by the day.
The involvement of Hillary Clinton campaign aides in both the FBI's and Robert Mueller's investigation of Russia's supposed ties to the Trump campaign in 2016 now seems deeper, and more nefarious, than first thought."

Academic freedom threatened most by students, faculty: Report - Washington Times

Academic freedom threatened most by students, faculty: Report - Washington Times:

Image result for No Freedom of Assembly"More than a century ago, colleges and universities feared that outside forces such as corporations or state lawmakers would infringe upon academic freedom, but today the threat to free inquiry has shifted to internal campus forces, a report shows.
Politicized student bodies and radicalized faculty have proved more than willing to disregard academic freedom in the name of “academic justice,” as one Harvard student put it. Polls consistently have shown that large pluralities, if not majorities, of students favor restricting speech that is upsetting or offensive."

Puzzle Pieces – Former Asst. Sec of State Robert Charles Discusses the ‘FISA Review Court’ – May Explain Judge Ruben Contreras Recusal… | The Last Refuge:
"...Additionally, Mr. Charles discusses the downstream ramifications when the U.S. Department of Justice secures a warrant by providing false and/or misleading information to the FISA court: “fruit of the poisonous tree”.

The explanation by the former ASoS might very well explain why Robert Mueller asked for a delay in the ongoing Mike Flynn sentencing; and simultaneously explain why Judge Ruben Contreras was recused from the case.
Against a newly discovered likelihood the Robert Mueller investigation began under false pretenses; and against the backdrop that FBI surveillance and wiretaps were obtained through materially (intentionally) false representations to the FISA court; and against the backdrop the original Flynn plea judge (Contreras) was also the approving FISA judge; and that judge ‘was summarily recused’ from the case; and against increasing evidence that Mike Flynn was set up by a terminal animus, and politically-motivated investigative rogue unit, operating within the FBI; and against surfacing IG Horowitz evidence that FBI investigators manipulated (lied on) their FD-302 interrogation documents; and understanding those falsified 302’s were used in the Mueller/Flynn charging document…"

Whose Fault Is the Opioid Crisis? | Trending:
See the source image"The world we now live in:
Purdue Pharmaceuticals, the maker of the opioid painkiller OxyContin, said it would no longer actively market opioid products — a major about-face for a company increasingly viewed as a principal culprit in the country’s addiction and overdose crisis.
The company said it is reducing its sales staff by more than half, and that its remaining salespeople will no longer visit doctor’s offices to push their product. Instead, the company said it will direct prescribers to materials published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the office of the U.S. surgeon general.
“We have restructured and significantly reduced our commercial operation and will no longer be promoting opioids to prescribers,” Purdue said in a statement.
As I just noted on Twitter:
It's hard not to notice the consistency of the new Leftist meme that no one is ever responsible for anything that cannot be blamed on someone else.
Allegations, questions, and fact-free accusations are now enough to determine the course of public policy.
There's a kind of evil genius to it, really..."

When We Misdiagnose Bright Children as Having ADHD, We Pay a Price
See the source image"When my stepdaughter, Adrienne, was in first grade, her teacher pressured me to put her on stimulants.
She explained that Adrienne daydreamed; she also became hyper when she learned something new.
“Inattention and hyperactivity are classic symptoms of ADHD. They can be treated with Adderall or Ritalin,” her teacher explained.
But I knew this was absurd.
Adrienne did not have ADHD.
“That just sounds like any bright kid,” I responded. “If she’s ahead of her classmates, she’ll be bored sometimes.”
Smart Kids Are More Likely to Be Misdiagnosed
I was on to something.
Some scientists believe that kids with IQs in the top 5 to 10 percent of the population are especially at risk for ADHD misdiagnosis..."
