If democrats win-----Bill targets single-use plastics in push to make manufacturers responsible | TheHill
"Two congressional Democrats are planning to roll out legislation that would fight plastic pollution by banning certain types of single-use containers and requiring manufacturers to use more recycled content in their packaging.
The legislation from Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-Calif.), expected Tuesday, would ban plastic takeout bags, utensils and plastic foam containers that cannot be recycled starting in 2022 and begin a nationwide container deposit system, mirroring programs in the Northeast and other parts of the country that pay consumers 10 cents for every returned beverage container..."

NYPD Union To Mayor Bill De Blasio: ‘We Do Not Respect You’ | The Daily Caller:

After a gunman on Sunday attacked a New York Police Department station, an NYPD union is blaming violence against law enforcement on Mayor Bill de Blasio.
A gunman walked into an NYPD station house in the Bronx early Sunday and began firing at officers, injuring a lieutenant inside. The alleged shooter eventually lay down and was apprehended after he ran out of bullets. De Blasio — who has famously clashed with the city’s police force during his tenure in office — took heavy criticism from New York City’s Sergeants Benevolent Association (SBA) following the shooting.

Pollution Control Agency Steps in It on Cow Emissions, Shows They Have No Business Regulating Greenhouse Gases On the Agriculture Industry - American Experiment
"Last year, I wrote about how the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA), a group that opposes mining and reliable natural gas and coal-fired power plants, sued the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) at the Minnesota Court of Appeals for not considering the impact that expanding a dairy operation would have on greenhouse gas emissions during the permitting process.
Surprisingly, the Court of Appeals agreed with MCEA and sent the permit back to MPCA to determine the greenhouse gas emissions that would be generated from expanding the farm.
...It is easy to put large farms in the crosshairs, they are big and often garner significant pushback from local communities, but let’s not pretend that groups like MCEA will not use this decision by the Court of Appeals as a starting point to force smaller and smaller operations to jump through similar red tape until every farm in the state of Minnesota is required to get a permit every time they want to buy more cattle or other livestock to expand their operations..."

Give me a break!-----MSU President Stanley addresses display at Wharton Center
MSU President Stanley addresses display at Wharton Center
In light of this, I want you all to know we are taking the situation at Wharton Gifts very seriously.
The center is undergoing a full restructuring of staff, including management, and will make diversity within its workforce and volunteers a priority.
In addition, mandatory racial-bias education and development for all staff and volunteers will begin Feb. 12, coordinated by the MSU Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives....
"Dear Spartans:
I write to you about another incident that has left many members of our community horribly offended, outraged and frustrated.
It has prompted many to question the safety of our campus and our commitment to inclusivity.
Last week, a display at the Wharton Center gift shop depicted current and historical African American figures hanging from trees.
Though this display was created to honor prominent African Americans during Black History Month, we cannot ignore the historical context that made it exceedingly painful and traumatic to our community members.
This was a disturbing reminder of our country’s history of terror and unrelenting brutality that targeted individuals based on their race.
Members of our community were hurt. Though this display was created to honor prominent African Americans during Black History Month, we cannot ignore the historical context that made it exceedingly painful and traumatic to our community members.
This display was unacceptable and should never have been put up.
I’m sorry that this happened. It has been taken down.
...As I communicated to you last fall after other insensitive and bias incidents on campus, regardless of intent, actions can create painful consequences for many.

Racial bias education efforts will be a continued part of ongoing employee development at the Wharton Center.
...I want those who have felt the visceral impact of this incident to know that they are heard — by me and every leader of this university.
...The Wharton Center recognizes the need for greater diversity among its staff and volunteers and for creating an environment that reflects our best efforts.
However, they are not alone in that need.
Our entire campus must view this as an opportunity to learn and reflect on what we can and should do to create a safe and inclusive culture, and we must hold ourselves accountable for achieving these goals.

Sincerely,

France Quietly Reintroducing the Crime of Blasphemy
France Quietly Reintroducing the Crime of Blasphemy- Today, in France, using freedom of expression to criticize Islam is clearly an extremely dangerous act, even if you, like Mila, are a child.
- France is rapidly going from laïcité (secularism) to lâcheté (cowardice); from freedom of expression to unconditional surrender.
- France keeps trying to procrastinate while Islamism thrives on the elites' rapidly abandoning their Judeo-Christian values.
- Feminist organizations, so quick to denounce "toxic masculinity" and "patriarchal structures of domination", were also silent...

Shocker: study finds global warming may be net beneficial for the global economy | Watts Up With That?
"...What the authors have done is used one the climate models (the FUND model) to look ahead at the impacts warming would have on other economic sectors besides energy.
...What they found is surprising; the overall economic impact of 3.0°C global warming would be beneficial nor just for the United States, but the entire global economy.
They write in the introduction:
"...the projected negative impact seems to be at odds with empirical data.
If this paper’s findings from the empirical energy consumption data are correct, and if the impact functions for the non-energy sectors are correct, then the overall economic impact of global warming would be beneficial.
If true, the implications for climate policy are substantial..."
