• This is the cop-free world that Black Lives Matter protesters are dreaming about.

"Social workers and religious leaders would replace officers on the street — and there would be no crimes such as stealing because the community workers would do such a good job helping everyone, fueled by money redirected from local police departments, advocates claim.
“Right now, cops don’t just respond to violent crimes; they make needless traffic stops, arrest petty drug users, and engage in a wide range of ‘broken windows policing’ behaviors that only serve to keep more people under the thumb of the criminal-justice system,” reads the Web site for the Minneapolis community coalition MPD150.
...Now, instead of cops — a.k.a. “strangers armed with guns” — mental-health providers, social workers, religious leaders and victim advocates could keep law and order, the MPD150 says.
The activists insist that if there was enough money put into the changeover, society could then become a “place where people don’t need to rob banks.”
Still, a small “specialized class of public servants” to fight crime might be necessary to fight some crime that slips through the cracks, they acknowledge...

"Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. apologized Monday for a tweet that included a racist photo that appeared on DEMOCRAT Gov. Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook page decades ago.
"After listening to African American LU leaders and alumni over the past week and hearing their concerns, I understand that by tweeting an image to remind all of the governor's racist past I actually refreshed the trauma that image had caused and offended some by using the image to make a political point," he tweeted Monday.
Falwell, a stalwart backer of President Donald Trump and the son of the late evangelist the Rev. Jerry Falwell, said he had deleted the tweet and apologized "for any hurt my effort caused, especially within the African American community."
...They said they would stop urging students to attend Liberty, would no longer donate to the university and would urge fellow people of faith to avoid speaking at the school unless Falwell changes his behavior or steps aside.
...Falwell tweeted that he was "adamantly opposed" to the mask mandate "until I decided to design my own."
With it, he posted a picture of a mask bearing a racist photo that appeared on DEMOCRAT Northam's medical yearbook page and — when made public last year — sparked a scandal that nearly forced him from office.
The photo showed a person in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan costume.

HBO Max’s reboot of the Looney Tunes cartoon features iconic character Elmer Fudd but without his classic rifle, the show’s executive producer announced.
According to the series executive producer and showrunner Peter Browngardt, the new series Looney Tunes Cartoons — which has launched on HBO Max — will still feature Elmer Fudd as a characteristically violent character. However, he will now carry a scythe instead of a gun and his attacks will be restricted to using sticks of dynamite, booby traps, and dropping heavy objects on Bugs Bunny.

"...Perhaps the most common form of alleged racist police “brutality” we hear about is shootings, particularly those with questionable justification. 
To hear some people, there’s an epidemic of racist police brutality and we need to do something about it.
...But, this all leads to some very important questions. 
While we all agree that unjustified police brutality is bad, is there really an “epidemic” of racial bias in police brutality? 
It only takes one incident to go viral and serve as a call to arms for thousands of people to protest, but is it a really as big of a problem as people suggest it is?

Looking at the data, the answer might actually be no. 
According to a 2019 study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, white officers are not more likely to shoot black civilians than black or Hispanic officers are. 
...Other studies have reached similar conclusions, including a Harvard study that found no racial bias in police using deadly force, though there is some disparity when it comes to physical force. 
With regard to lethal force, however, no disparity exists.
“A solid body of evidence finds no structural bias in the criminal-justice system with regard to arrests, prosecution or sentencing,” explained Heather Mac Donald of the Manhatten Institute in the Wall Street Journal earlier this week. 
“Crime and suspect behavior, not race, determine most police actions.”...
