We’ve Got a Way Bigger Problem than “Disinformation”

We’ve Got a Way Bigger Problem than “Disinformation”
"...Apparently, the FDA and the NY Times have decided that Joe Mercola is guilty of what’s turning out to be the defining sin of the 21st century: Disinformation.
I wonder if that word scares you as much as it does me.
...Re-education?
Disinformation?
It sounds like North Korea to me.
The entire concept should be chilling to any American, and I don’t care where you stand on vaccination—or on anything else!
...The minute you accept the notion of “disinformation” you automatically buy into the notion that there’s one truth.
...Who decides what the “truth” is going to be?
And…for how long it’s going to be “true”?...Read all!

The Miami Herald used what many are calling a "misleading" headline on an article about COVID-19 deaths in Florida, which garnered thousands of clicks and shares from detractors of Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The Morning Briefing: The Odds on Biden Ever Getting Anything Right Are Horrible

The Morning Briefing: The Odds on Biden Ever Getting Anything Right Are Horrible

During our VIP Gold Live Chat last Thursday, Bryan, VodkaPundit, and I were running over the myriad ways in which Joe Biden and his handlers screwed up the decision-making process regarding the withdrawal from Afghanistan. It’s truly stunning in scope.

It’s so bad, they were all probably wearing mismatched socks while “planning” this debacle.

My firm belief is that, even though these are dark days, we’re going to be just fine. Just not anytime soon.

There is nothing on the horizon to suggest that this administration is ever going to get anything right...Read all.

Sensing Online: What will you do when they come for you?

Sensing Online: What will you do when they come for you?
"...There is a looming, severe cop shortage in cities across the country.
Police who want to stay in the biz are fleeing to rural counties, but those counties have only so many slots.
We will see the day when dialing 9-1-1 will basically be met with silence.
What will you do then?
The wealthy are already hiring former cops or military to protect them ("Luxury apartment buildings in New York City are hiring armed security to protect wealthy residents amid fear of election day unrest").
I mean, Jeff Bezos will not need to call 9-1-1, let's face it.
But you and I?
It will be open season on us by a growing and emboldened criminal class, which will be free to range far outside their present working area.
Your quiet, no-crime suburb will not stay that way.
And the poor, including black Americans whose lives are supposed to matter, will suffer perhaps worst of all.
Do you want to defund or abolish police?
Okay, fine.
I hope you find a way to abolish criminals, too.
If you don't, what will you do when they come for you?...Read all.

The Media Whitewashes Biden’s Afghanistan Blunders

The Media Whitewashes Biden’s Afghanistan Blunders
  • The media scrutiny to which he has been briefly subjected is already ebbing.
"When the Biden administration’s feckless management of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan produced all too predictable chaos, the legacy media uncharacteristically reported on the debacle with remarkable candor. This was unsettling to a White House inured to obsequious coverage.
...it is abundantly clear that Biden studiously ignored advice from his military and national security advisors in order to adhere to his self-imposed withdrawal date of August 31.
  • ...yet many in the media clearly yearn to absolve Biden of responsibility for his incompetent and deadly withdrawal.
  • Many insist that the real culprit is the man he replaced seven months ago.
Even as the bodies were being counted in Kabul, NBC News published an opinion column by Sébastien Roblin titled, “The Afghanistan airport explosion happened under Biden but traces back to Trump.”...Read all.

A California teacher instructed her students to pledge allegiance to a gay pride flag after she removed the American flag from her classroom because it made her uncomfortable, according to a report. The school district has allegedly launched an investigation into the incident.

We’re told to ‘follow the science’ — yet some of it is just plain wrong--Glenn Harlan Reynolds

We’re told to ‘follow the science’ — yet some of it is just plain wrong
  • In recent years, there have been a lot of catchphrases around science: “Follow the science!” “We believe in science!” Even “The science is settled!”
  • Well, sometimes it’s not settled. Sometimes it’s not even really science. But lots of people believe in it or follow it anyway. It’s a global problem.
"Most recently, we learned that a widely noticed 2012 study co-authored by Dan Ariely — whom the journal Science refers to as a “superstar honesty researcher” — was based on fake data.
Ariely is indeed a superstar, and his work is highly influential.
He’s written multiple New York Times bestsellers.
He founded a center at Duke University.
...The only problem is, it’s not true
...Did Ariely commit fraud — he says no...but in a way the problem is bigger.
Whether or not it was Ariely’s fault, a study that influenced policy turns out to have been baseless.
And scientific peer review, often defended as the gold standard for research, didn’t spot the problem.
...Even more dangerous than the things we don’t know are the things we think we know that are wrong. Bad science produces things that sound important — maybe because they match our prejudices — but that are wrong.
That’s not science at all, and we should neither believe in it nor follow it...Read all.

Chicago police union sends clear message to Mayor Lightfoot over vaccine mandate, warns city could lose thousands of cops: 'Hell, no,' 'We'll see you in court' - TheBlaze

Just hours after the Food and Drug Administration gave the Pfizer COVID vaccine its seal of approval Monday, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot told reporters that jabs "are absolutely going to be required" for all city employees. But her declaration went over like a lead balloon with vast swathes of city workers who are telling the mayor to check herself, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Liberals destroy everything they touch!-----A Deserved 'Moment of Truth' for Public Schools as a Record Number of Parents Opt Out

A Deserved 'Moment of Truth' for Public Schools as a Record Number of Parents Opt Out
  • Simply put, parents and students have lost faith in the school system to educate.
  • They doubt whether the schools have the best interests of their students at heart.
This poisonous doubt is having a tangible effect on enrollment.
Despite the fact that public education is free, parents are sending their children to private schools with more reliable, more predictable policies.
Enrollment in public schools nationwide declined by 3 percent last year.
But it was the numbers for kindergarten enrollment that should chill the blood of teachers’ unions and school district officials.
Kindergarten enrollment tanked by 13 percent last year, and it’s only expected to get worse this year...Read all.
