Di Leo: Eight Critical Steps to Restore the Republic - Illinois Review

Di Leo: Eight Critical Steps to Restore the Republic - Illinois Review  By John F. Di Leo -

"...Even so, it’s not too soon to talk about what the next GOP Congress needs to do.  And this time, some of the absolute musts are unusual.

First, a few ground rules: 1. Republican legislators have a tendency to say “if we don’t hold the executive branch, there’s no point wasting our time on things that won’t get signed.”  Wrong...

2. There are tons of issues that Republicans shy away from.  Cold fear of being called “racist, sexist, anti-gay,” and a hundred other insults has terrified Republicans to the point that they won’t say a word about the crippling welfare state, our emasculated military, the insolvency of Social Security, and perhaps a hundred other subjects.  We simply cannot afford such fears anymore.

For decades, Republican squeamishness has given the Democrats carte blanche to use those very issues to undermine not only the United States, but Western Civilization itself. Stand up or go home..."

Democrats Admit Defeat: Amnesty for Illegal Aliens Not in Budget Package

Senate Democrats are admitting defeat in their efforts to slip an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens into an upcoming budget reconciliation package.

While Senate Democrats and Republicans are currently negotiating a reconciliation package — a filibuster-proof budget that only needs majority support to pass — Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) admitted that amnesty for illegal aliens will not make it into the final deal.

Schumer, Manchin announce deal on reconciliation bill with tax, climate, energy provisions
"KEY POINTS
  • Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., announced that they have struck a deal on legislation that aims to reform the tax code, fight climate change and cut health-care costs.
  • The reconciliation bill would invest more than $400 billion over 10 years, to be fully paid for by closing tax loopholes on the richest Americans and corporations, the senators said.
  • It would reduce deficits by $300 billion over that decade, the senators said, citing estimates from nonpartisan congressional tax and budget offices..."

Why people become rock stars after they flip politics
"By now, we’ve all heard about the January 6th hearing, particularly the “testimony” of one Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to President Donald Trump’s chief of staff.
However, it seems that’s only part of the story.
As it turns out, Hutchinson's decision to testify before the committee came after the former aide had made a complete reversal on her beliefs about President Trump, the January 6 committee, and what happened on that day more than one year ago.
As Mollie Hemingway and Tristan Justice reported in an exclusive at The Federalist, messages show an entirely different set of beliefs exhibited by Hutchinson than she showed in her performance before the January 6 committee's media circus...."

"Highly credible" whistleblowers allege the FBI and Justice Department are engaging in a coordinated scheme to downplay and discredit negative information related to Hunter Biden. The Upside-Down Logic of Electric SUVs - WSJ
"...If consumers and businesses cared about the CO2 they emit, the last cars they might buy are hot-selling EVs like Ford’s Mustang Mach-E or GM’s Hummer EV.
  • These large-battery, long-range vehicles would have to be driven many tens of thousands of miles before they rack up enough mileage and save enough gasoline to compensate for the emissions created to produce their batteries...
  • Most problematic of all is the assumption that EV use causes oil to stay in the ground..."

Why is There So Much Bullying in Schools? - Intellectual Takeout

Why is There So Much Bullying in Schools? - Intellectual Takeout
"Imagine if, at your workplace, you were constantly harassed, humiliated, and even physically attacked. You would probably dread going to work and call in sick often to avoid it.
You may talk to your boss or someone in HR to see if the problem could be fixed.
If it couldn’t, you would quit.
You may even file charges if you were physically harmed, or take out a restraining order against your perpetrators.
You have recourse.
You have options.
You have choice.
  • Children who are bullied in school have very few choices and very little recourse.
  • Required by law to attend an assigned public school, many children and their parents have minimal agency to withdraw from a bullying scenario...
  • In those cases, bullied children must endure daily battering that would be criminal if inflicted on adults.
  • Is it any wonder that we have a rising suicide rate among children?..."

"...The House Government Reform and Oversight Democrats have the answer we have all been waiting for… investigate the Washington Redskins-Football Team-Commanders over sexual harassment allegations from about a decade ago.
Mind you, this is the same House of Representatives
  • which maintains a secret slush fund to pay off staff which makes sexual harassment allegations against members of Congress and top staff.
  • The names of those members of Congress whose actions warranted taxpayer payouts to make them go away are more difficult to find than Dick Cheney’s famous remote, undisclosed location during the George W. Bush administration.
  • A 2017 House report showed that $17 million had been paid out since their internal Office of Compliance was formed to make sexual harassment charges go away..."
