Ten Tariff Questions Never Asked | RealClearPolitics - Victor Davis Hanson

Why do most nations prefer trade surpluses and protective tariffs? -  Victor Davis Hanson
1. President Donald Trump's so-called "trade war."
Many call the American effort to obtain either tariff parity or a reduction in the roughly $1 trillion trade deficit and 50 years of consecutive trade deficits a "trade war."
But then what do they call the policies of the past half-century by Europe, Asia, China, and others to ensure asymmetrical tariffs, pseudo-health and security trade restrictions, and large surpluses?
A trade peace? Trade fairness?
2. Do nations prefer surpluses or deficits?
Why do most nations prefer trade surpluses and protective tariffs?...
3. Would our trade partners prefer to trade places with us?...
  • What's next?
If there soon is a rush of nations to cut a deal with the U.S. and not to be left out of the American market, will there follow another hysterical Wall Street spasm -- but not to sell, but instead to buy stocks at bargain prices?

What's changed??!!

House OKs SAVE Act election integrity measure * WorldNetDaily * by Jacob Adams, The Daily Signal

The SAVE Act is designed to help reduce voter fraud by prohibiting states from registering individuals to vote in federal elections unless they first prove that they are American citizens with approved documentation. It also makes it a crime to register someone who does not provide proof of American citizenship, and it orders states to remove noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters.

Donald Sensing - So which president actually leads in number of persons deported from the United States?

Covid-related authority to expel were known as Title 42 powers, and Trump did use that authority to a relatively low level in 2020, but Biden ramped it sharply upward. - Donald Sensing
Here are the numbers, which I have personally verified; source is the Cato Institute unless otherwise noted:
  • Bill Clinton deported 869,646 persons.
  • George W. Bush, 2,012,539.
  • Barack Obama, 3,066,457
  • Donald Trump, first term, 1,500,000 (rounded by source, Migration Policy Institute)
  • Joe Biden - I cannot find sources with consistent total number. A Turkish news agency (thanks, Google) said 4.4 million. Migration Policy Institute said in June 2024 it was on track to match Trump's first term.
My assessment is that MPI is distinguishing between "returning" and "deporting."
The former is denial of entry into the US for those apprehended at the border, while deporting is the ejection of persons who are actually inside the country.
Much more in original post comments.

DOGE uncovers people who HAVEN'T BEEN BORN demanding unemployment * WorldNetDaily * by Bob Unruh

DOGE uncovers people who HAVEN'T BEEN BORN demanding unemployment * WorldNetDaily * by Bob Unruh

If you thought the USAID-funded gay sex comic books and DEI-promoting theatrical productions were bad, you probably thought the revelations about people who, allegedly, are more than 200 years old collecting Social Security payments were horrific. It gets worse. President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, under the directorship of Elon Musk, has confirmed that thousands of people who haven't been born yet are demanding benefits be paid to them under the nation's unemployment compensation programs.

They are fudging the "science"!!-----Sunspot update: NOAA scientists try to hide how wrong they have gotten things - Robert Zimmerman

...games-playing by NOAA solar scientists to fool the public into believing they know more than they do.
Below is my annotated version of NOAA’s monthly graph showing the amount of sunspot activity on the Earth-facing hemisphere of the Sun.
This graph is significantly different from the graph that NOAA’s scientists have issued for the past few years, with all the changes designed to make it seem as if these scientists’ predictions are on the money, when they have been entirely wrong now for two solar cycles in a row.

The graph above has been modified to show the predictions of the solar science community for both the previous solar maximum as well as the ongoing maximum.
I have also annotated this graph to indicate the changes these government NOAA scientists have made. First, their default graph visible to the public no longer includes the red curve showing their failed prediction for this solar maximum...
Second, and more egregious, these scientists added a new prediction — the blue line surrounded by a multi-colored range indicating margin of error — suggesting they now think the solar maximum is over and that the Sun is starting its ramp down to minimum.
Only if you dig into the webpage in one of the explanatory tabs below the graphs do you discover that this new prediction was added last month as “a recalibration of the 2019 Panel prediction based on new observational data.”...

Tulsi Gabbard: We have evidence that electronic voting machines can be hacked! * WorldNetDaily * by Bob Unruh

The report described Gabbard's revelation as "jaw-dropping" and explained she said, "We have evidence of how these electronic voting systems have been vulnerable to hackers for a very long time and vulnerable to exploitation to manipulate the results of the votes being cast, which further drives forward your mandate to bring about paper ballots across the country so that voters can have faith in the integrity of our elections."

Senate Republicans continued their campaign Thursday to roll back stringent energy regulations that were issued during the final months of President Joe Biden’s term. - Adam Pack
The Senate voted 52-42 to repeal a Biden Department of Energy regulation banning some natural gas water heaters by 2029.
The resolution now heads to President Donald Trump’s desk for signature...
If Senate Republicans had not successfully voted to rescind the regulation, Americans would have been forced to pay an additional $450 for alternative water heaters...

'How many men?' Ted Cruz demands answers from USA Fencing after male athlete was allowed to compete against women | Blaze Media

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) asked the national fencing body why it is not complying with federal mandates and gave a clear deadline for answers. A male competed in a women's fencing tournament in Maryland at the end of March, which sparked a protest from one of the female athletes, who refused to compete against the man. Female fencer Stephanie Turner forfeited her match against male Redmond Sullivan and was disqualified from the tournament, with officials stating that her DQ was due to her refusal "to fence an eligible opponent."

Newly declassified FBI memos detail concerns, payments to Russia collusion informant | Just The News

...was paid nearly $1.2 million from FBI over three decades. - Jerry Dunleavy and John Solomon
They provide the most extensive portrait yet of former FBI informant Stefan Halper, a Pentagon consultant and academic who, along with retired British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, was used by bureau agents to build the Crossfire Hurricane case against Trump and his advisers during the end of the 2016 election and the beginning of Trump's first term in office...
FBI agents ultimately deemed Halper's account to be "not plausible" and "not accurate", but the bureau proceeded to investigate Flynn, kept paying Halper and continued to vouch for his veracity as a confidential human source codenamed "Mitch," the memos show.
For instance, a March 2017 memo showed the FBI's Validation Management Unit wrote that it "assesses it is likely HALPER is suitable for continued operation, based on his or her authenticity, reliability, and control.”..
