Misunderstanding Trump - Victor Davis Hanson

Misunderstanding Trump - Victor Davis Hanson
He was and is clearly a populist-nationalist: i.e., what in a cost-to-benefit analysis is in the best interests of the U.S. at home and its own particular agendas abroad?
  • Trump did not like neoconservatism because he never felt it was in our interests to spend blood and treasure on those who either did not deserve such largesse, or who would never evolve in ways we thought they should, or whose fates were not central to our national interests.
  • So-called optional, bad-deal, and forever wars in the Middle East and their multitrillion-dollar costs would come ultimately at the expense of shorting Middle America back home.
Trump’s much-critiqued references to Putin—most recently during the G7, and his negotiations with him over Ukraine—were never, as alleged, appeasement...but art-of-the-deal/transactional (e.g., you don’t gratuitously insult or ostracize your formidable rival in possible dealmaking, but seek simultaneously to praise—and beat—him.)
Similarly, Winston Churchill initially saw the mass-murdering, treacherous Josef Stalin in the way Trump perhaps sees Putin, someone dangerous and evil, but who if handled carefully, occasionally granted his due, and approached with eyes wide open, could be useful in advancing a country’s realist interests...
At best, one could say Trump really did lament the horrific loss of life, and at the least, as a builder and dealmaker, wars for him rarely made any practical business sense, i.e., it seems wiser to build things and mutually profit than to blow them up and impoverish all involved...

Everything is unprecedented if you memory hole the 1930s.

Must read!-----The SAT’s Trust Fall - Legacy standardized-testing firms are cutting rigor to please students.

First, most lawmakers are surprised to learn that the tests change at all. They are then flabbergasted to learn what the most recent changes to the SAT were. -  Michael Torres
The most noticeable changes were to the structure of the exam.
  • The paper exam was scrapped, and in its place the College Board implemented a computer-based test that is adaptive, meaning students are served easier or harder questions in later portions of each section based on their early performance.
But while these changes were noticeable, they were not the most noteworthy...
Being able to pay attention to texts of extended length should indeed be a prerequisite for college.
The College Board notes on page 13 of its Digital SAT Suite of Assessments technical framework that two of the primary goals in changing the exam were to make it shorter and to give students more time per question.
To make this happen in the new “Reading and Writing” section of the test, they shortened reading passages from 500-750 words all the way down to 25-150 words, or the length of a social-media post, with one question per passage...

EXCLUSIVE: How Chinese Intel Infiltrated LA Mayor Karen Bass’ Camp - Philip Lenczycki

An official in Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’ administration is the son of a Chinatown powerbroker and Democratic donor who has praised the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and works with foreign intelligence agencies, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation discovered.
  • Adam Ma has held multiple positions in Bass’ office, his LinkedIn profile states, and now serves as both the city’s liaison for Asian-Americans and director of commission appointments, according to the Los Angeles government website.
  • His father, who raised tens of thousands of dollars for Bass’ mayoral campaign, previously lauded the Communist Party for creating a “strong China” and is listed as an official by multiple arms of a Chinese government influence and intelligence service called the United Front Work Department (UFWD).
“If China didn’t have the CCP, there’d be no strong China today, overseas Chinese compatriots send the highest praise and admiration to the CCP,” Adam Ma’s father, Ma Shurong, said in July 2021 to commemorate the Party’s 100th anniversary...

Left's Immigration Narrative Crushed by What Happened at Nebraska Meat Packing Plant Immediately After ICE Raid

Left's Immigration Narrative Crushed by What Happened at Nebraska Meat Packing Plant Immediately After ICE Raid

“GM’s decision to invest billions in American plants and prioritize U.S. workers is exactly why we spoke up in favor of these auto tariffs,” UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement.

“The writing is on the wall: the race to the bottom is over. We have excess manufacturing capacity at our existing plants, and auto companies can easily bring good union jobs back to the U.S. They can prove the naysayers wrong by investing in our communities and putting workers before corporate greed. GM is showing that it can be done,” he said.

This is a version of the Price of Bread Fallacy.
One of the things that always annoyed me was the Price of Bread question
Reporters would ask a politician the price of a few everyday household items.
  • If they knew, that meant they were ordinary, down to earth Average Joes you could trust to keep in touch with the common man.
They did their own shopping!
  • If they didn’t know, that meant they were privileged, elite, know nothing ivory tower wankers that couldn’t be trusted because they were lost in a bubble of wealth far from the concerns of you and me...

This is an article in the UK Daily Mail (US edition) that explains why Canada - yes, that Canada - is deporting US citizens who go there to claim asylum from oppression by the Trump administration.

  • Liberals seeking refuge from Donald Trump's America have been dealt a crushing blow as their favorite sanctuary issued a brutal crackdown.
  • Almost 500 fleeing US citizens have tried to claim asylum in Canada since the billionaire's re-election, Daily Mail can exclusively reveal.
  • The Canadian government is bringing in emergency powers to make it easier to block applications and its border agency says the proposed overhaul is to 'protect the system.'

The Biggest Scandal Ever

The FBI Was Ordered to Destroy Evidence of China’s 2020 Election Plot to Help Biden Matt Margolis

There’s been a new, disturbing development in the case of the Chinese plot to interfere in the 2020 election.
As PJ Media previously reported, on Monday, FBI Director Kash Patel handed Congress an intelligence report exposing a Chinese plot to interfere in the 2020 election.
  • The report details how Chinese operatives mass-produced fake U.S. driver’s licenses to flood the system with fraudulent mail-in ballots, which helped Joe Biden in the process.
  • However, the intel wasn’t investigated, corroborated, or acted on.
In fact, it was quietly pulled from intelligence agencies even as then-FBI Director Chris Wray told Congress there were “no known plots” of foreign interference.
Pretty bad, right?
It gets worse...

Legal action challenges rule that makes speech 'right' conditional upon viewpoint * WorldNetDaily * by Bob Unruh

A dedicated pro-life activist has gone to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to challenge San Diego's decision to make speech in some parts of the city conditional on the viewpoint expressed. The situation is that in some "no-speech zones" in the city, abortion business workers, agents and volunteers can say anything they want in support of abortion, but pro-lifers are banned from expressing their perspective in opposition. It is the Thomas More Society that is working on the case on behalf of Roger Lopez.
