There probably isn't a bright red line or some official metric a city must measure up to — down to? — before being rated as Officially Ungovernable.

But, if there is, surely Washington, D.C., crossed soon after the Martyrdom of St. George Floyd of Minneapolis.

"This is a safe city, but overhearing and witnessing gang threats and then watching the camera footage of the thuggery is disturbing," one D.C. resident told the Washington Post on Sunday.
But — and I'm not making this up, so I'll quote WaPo reporters Olivia George, John D. Harden, and Jenny Gathright precisely — the resident who told them the city was safe was "speaking on the condition of anonymity over concerns of personal safety."

The mostly peaceful gang members tend toward violence when they hear you say they might not always be peaceful, I suppose...

In this case, Vice President JD Vance was criticized for ordering the raising of the river near his Ohio home to improve his family’s canoeing experience.

First appearing in The Guardian, the story took off in the media and was featured on shows like The Colbert Show when Stephen Colbert mocked “insane spoiled baby emperor move.”

The problem is that it was entirely untrue.
The Secret Service raised the river for security reasons with no contact with the Vice President or his family.

The hit piece was curious because The Guardian admitted that it could not confirm the allegation. Nevertheless, it breathlessly reported on “Canoe-Gate”...“The Guardian could not independently confirm this specific claim.”
Hmmm, that “specific claim” is the entire story.

USSS spokesman Anthony Guglielmi explained that the USSS conducted a trip to the Ohio area ahead of the vice president’s trip, and one of their vessels actually ran aground. That is why the USSS asked for the increase: “It’s very normal, it’s very routine.” He said that the decision was made without input or involvement from the vice president’s office...

I’ll eliminate all suspense by stating that the numbers are not good...

But the second part of the 20th Theorem states that “Whenever there is fiscal deterioration, excess spending growth is the cause.” So Canada definitely qualifies.
Moreover, bad fiscal policy over a decade adds up. Government is now consuming 44.24 percent of GDP compared to 38.37 percent of economic output in 2014.

Do the same thing for the next 10 years and Canada will be like France or Italy.

Second, bad fiscal policy leads to bad economic outcomes.
