"Universities are dying.
- They have long ceased being the best way to gain knowledge.
- More recently, the degrees they confer have ceased being the best way to signal employability...
- The final leg universities stand on is the mythology of social status. That’s it. That’s what gives them what waning power they have.
Often, they shackle themselves or their children to tens of thousands in debt along the way.
...Why?
Because they value the decaying social status indicator of a degree.

Video of Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa by truckers - TheBlaze:
Truckers and protesters showed up in huge numbers as the Freedom Convoy descended upon Ottawa, Ontario. Despite subzero windchill temperatures on Saturday, Canadians mounted a large protest against vaccine mandates. Massive crowds peacefully protested against government overreach near Parliament Hill.
Truckers were protesting an order that went into effect on Jan. 15, requiring unvaccinated Canadian truckers re-entering the country from the U.S. to get tested for COVID-19 and quarantine themselves. There was reportedly a convoy of up to 50,000 Canadian truck drivers who traveled to Canada's capital to protest the vaccine mandates.

Be Grateful for Global Warming - CO2 Coalition
"... much of the recent advancement in human prosperity would have been impossible without the temperature increases of the last several hundred years?
A key to the sustenance of any society is food security. Today’s world should be grateful for today’s relative warmth as well as higher levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide levels because both have been instrumental in propelling plant growth globally.
...Past warming periods were much warmer than our modern temperatures and were associated with times of great prosperity. The intervening cold eras had names like Greek Dark Ages, the Dark Ages and Little Ice Age and were linked to crop failure, pestilence and mass depopulation.
According to historian Wolfgang Behringer, “…cooling has always resulted in major social upheavals, whereas warming has sometimes led to a blossoming of culture...Read all.

Goldie Hawn says mental health of children suffering from pandemic - TheBlaze
Goldie Hawn says mental health of children suffering from pandemic - TheBlaze:
She warned that the answer is not to allow kids to "be over-diagnosed or shuffled through a system that screens and treats extreme cases after they are too late."
"We will survive the COVID-19 pandemic, but I’m not sure we can survive an entire generation whose collective trauma sends them hobbling into adulthood. We need more research, more preventative care and more early intervention. And there’s still time," Hawn concluded. "If we get it right, today’s kids could emerge as the strongest generation America has ever produced."

Summit County Coroner’s Office sees record number of deaths in 2021
"The Summit County Coroner’s office handled a record-breaking number of cases in 2021, and Summit County Coroner Regan Wood does not like the trajectory as it relates to substance use and alcohol.
Her office investigated 97 deaths in 2021, which is 10 (11.5% increase) more than the previous record of 87 deaths in 2015.
...It’s these accidental deaths — specifically the 18 deaths related to substance use and alcohol— that she is worried about.
Nine of those were drug overdoses and five of those overdoses tested for fentanyl in their system.
Wood said the nine alcohol-related deaths, or people who “drank themselves to death,” was also alarming.
Wood said these alcohol-related cases involved people between the ages of 30 and 55...Read all!

Ron DeSantis Releases New Ad Against Anthony Fauci - Louder With Crowder:
Ron DeSantis is no fan of Dr. Anthony Fauci. America's most popular unelected government bureaucrat can be polarizing. You either enjoy living in constant fear and look to him for permission to live your life, or you're not a mindless nincompoop and enjoy freedom. Ron DeSantis, America's Governor, famously decided early to do the opposite of what Fauci said. It's what made him America's Governor and what made Florida a target destination for people leaving authoritarian states.

Redfern is the (republican) press secretary for the Florida Department of Health.
Now, it’s possible that while they reached out to comment at the last minute for some reason, he’s not wrong that it’s often an attempt to honestly say you asked for a comment without actually having to get a comment.
And based on the way Maddow framed his response on her show—in a manner made to look particularly flippant but also to hide the games her staff played—I’d be very surprised if that’s the case.

Biden administration introduces plan to lower speed limits and expand bike lanes in bid to reach 'zero' traffic fatalities - TheBlaze:

Professor/school board member: Treat unvaxxed students like ‘knife-wielders,’ ‘the intoxicated’
"A member of a Chicago-area district school board, who also happens to be a college professor, recently compared unvaccinated students to “knife-wielders” and “the intoxicated.”
Marcelo Sztainberg, a computer science professor and associate dean at Northeastern Illinois University, made the analogy at a January 10 Glenbrook 225 school board meeting, North Cook News reports.
“If a student shows up (to school) with a knife, we won’t let them in,” Sztainberg said.

It has decided to kick its science-loving readers in the teeth and embrace a modern equivalent of Lysenkoism—the doctrine that required Soviet biologists to ignore evolution and the genetics of plants.

Why...has been infected by a taste-destroying, judgment-paralyzing malady: the virus of progressive wokeness.
...Woke theory provides the platform for
- putting opponents on the defensive,
- grabbing more spoils for practitioners of identity politics, and
- smearing as racist anyone who dares dispute the premise of the whole racket—that people have no genetic differences.
Since no one wants to be called a racist, the intimidation works perfectly and is spreading an ever-widening circle of fear in campuses, corporations, and media...
- One reason is that in today’s academic world, scholars are deeply dependent on the support of others to gain government grants or get their papers accepted by journals. Even one negative vote in the peer-review committee can be fatal to careers. Because of this intense interdependence, academics can’t afford any accusation of racism, however unmerited. Unfortunately, this means that it’s all too easy to bully people into silence. A handful of activists have succeeded in terrifying campuses across the nation with their odious brand of obscurantism...Read all!!

That tendency extends to public health officials, including the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), who claim to be following the science but in this case are desperately searching for validation of a policy that was adopted without any firm empirical basis...Read all!
