Playing defense: Muskegon County's much-maligned indigent legal defense system headed for scrap heap | MLive.com:
"The new model will launch Jan. 1. It’s budgeted at $1.3 million for the first year.
That’s $160,000 more than the current system costs, according to County Administrator Bonnie Hammersley.
The plan calls for 13 staff attorneys and three support staff plus $150,000 to contract for outside attorneys for appeals and cases where there’s a conflict of interest."
