- In Trump World, thousands of smiling patriots of every race and religion were waving flags, enjoying a parade, and listening to a stirring non-partisan speech by their president.
- In Left World? Protestors burned flags. They chanted “America was never great.” Leftist commentators, politicians and celebrities expressed a vision of this unique and blessed country best encapsulated in an hysterical tweet from filmmaker Joss Whedon: “We have a racist, fascist president who’s using armed thugs in law enforcement & illegal militias to keep us cowed & hopeless & he’ll take the 2020 election by armed force & blatant, treasonous criminality & that’s us now, we’re the country with concentration camps so happy 4th.”
