‘Tired of seeing my people die,” says organizer of Grand Rapids protest over Minnesota shooting
GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- The organizer of a downtown Grand Rapids protest over the Minnesota police officer fatal shooting of Daunte Wright, a Black man, said she is tired of “seeing my people die” in police shootings.
“I’m sick and tried of seeing my people die at the hands of those who took a vow to protect and serve,” said Alyssa Bates, president of the Justice for Black Lives group in Grand Rapids.
Bates and others spoke at Rosa Parks Circle for the rally “Call to Action: Justice for Daunte Wright.”
