It aims to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere; yet, burning wood releases as much CO2 as burning coal.
- Where does the wood come from?
- Living trees are cut down,
- turned into woodchips,
- transported by train to the coast,
- shipped across the Atlantic on vessels that burn fuel oil,
- then loaded onto diesel powered trains;
- to be taken to Drax, where the wood are burned releasing Co2 into the atmosphere - just as coal would...
