Clickbait for Marxists - WSJ

Clickbait for Marxists - WSJ
"Sunday marked the anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, erected in 1961 by East Germany’s Communist government to prevent its captive citizenry from fleeing to the West.
In 1989 Germans tore down the wall and then the regime.
Germany was reunified in 1990 and in the years since its people have not forgotten the horrors of totalitarianism.
On Friday German Chancellor Angela Merkel sought to honor the memory of communism’s victims with a visit to the former Hohenschoenhausen prison operated by East Germany’s Stasi secret police.
The New York Times for its part chose to offer a different take on Saturday, publishing a piece arguing that women in the former East Germany had better sex than those in West Germany....

Veering again into self-parody with another in its series on the lighter side of an ideology that killed an estimated 100 million people, the Times has found another Ivy League professor willing to defend the indefensible.
This time someone named Kristen Ghodsee from the University of Pennsylvania must surely be making Quaker alums proud with her argument that there were orgasms galore behind the Iron Curtain.
Ms. Ghodsee sees the Communists as pioneers of sexual equality and writes, “The Soviets extended full suffrage to women in 1917, three years before the United States did.”..."

Moments later, the crowd pulled on the rope and the statue fell.  One man quickly ran up and spat on the statue and several others began kicking it.

It’s not clear where law enforcement officers were during the protest.

Condoleeza Rice Says Keep Monuments to Slave Owners

Condoleeza Rice Says Keep Monuments to Slave Owners:

Image result for flickr commons images Condoleeza Rice"Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stopped by “Fox & Friends” Monday morning to talk about her latest book, “Democracy: Stories from the Long Road to Freedom.” Part of that road, of course, involved slavery and the Civil War.

Co-host Brian Kilmeade came out of the gate strong:

"I want to talk about where your book starts, and that's our constitution [...] As an African-American woman, do you see yourself in this constitution?

Do you think that, when we look at nine of our first twelve presidents as slave owners, should we start taking their statues down and say, we’re embarrassed by you?”"

Liberals Aren't Liking This Newly-Discovered Photo Of The 1924 Democratic Convention...
"The above picture was taken during the 1924 Democratic Convention.
It was also known as “Klanbake.”
In Madison Square Garden, New York City, from June 24 to July 9, a dispute during came up revolving around an attempt by non-Klan delegates, led by Forney Johnston of Alabama, to condemn the organization for its violence in the Democratic Party’s platform.
But Klan delegates defeated the platform plank in a series of floor debates.
To celebrate, tens of thousands of hooded Klansmen rallied in a field in New Jersey, across the river from New York City.
This event, known subsequently as the “Klanbake”, was also attended by hundreds of Klan delegates to the convention, who burned crosses, urged violence and intimidation against African Americans and Catholics, and attacked effigies of Smith.
The final vote was 546.15 for the Klan, 542.85 against it."

Nomophobia: Made Up Disease Or Real Smartphone Anxiety Condition? | Science 2.0

Nomophobia: Made Up Disease Or Real Smartphone Anxiety Condition? | Science 2.0
"Nomophobia, defined as smartphone separation anxiety,  is when people perceive smartphones as part of their extended selves.
Counselors, lawyers and therapists are aggressively pushing it as the fad diagnosis of 2017, but what behaviors and descriptors can help identify people with high nomophobia ?
A new paper compares how people considered to have high and low nomophobic tendencies perceive and value their smartphones.

In the pay-to-publish journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking, Seunghee Han and Jang Hyun Kim, PhD, Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, Republic of Korea and Ki Joon Kim, PhD, City University of Hong Kong, Kowloon, created a model that they say has identified a link between factors such as personal memories and user's greater attachment to their smart phones, leading to nomophobia and a tendency to phone proximity-seeking behavior.
