Licenses, ID Cards Sold to Illegal Aliens by Corrupt State Workers Used for Voter Fraud - Judicial Watch

Licenses, ID Cards Sold to Illegal Aliens by Corrupt State Workers Used for Voter Fraud - Judicial Watch:

Image result for Dept of Justice"A year after Judicial Watch reported a rise in illegal aliens using fake Puerto Rican birth certificates to obtain authentic U.S. passports and drivers’ licenses, the feds have busted a Massachusetts operation run by corrupt state workers. The state employees sold drivers’ licenses and state identification cards to illegal immigrants who bought Puerto Rican documents on the black market, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The operation perpetuated voter fraud because some of the false identities and addresses were used to vote in Boston, the state’s capital and largest city."

Thefts at Bangor Community Garden prompt addition of surveillance — Homestead — Bangor Daily News — BDN Maine

Thefts at Bangor Community Garden prompt addition of surveillance — Homestead — Bangor Daily News — BDN Maine:
BANGOR, Maine — Jerry Ledwith has no problem giving away a tomato to someone who needs it.
But he does have an issue with folks coming in and taking without permission what he and his fellow gardeners are growing in their plots at the Bangor Community Garden.
“Listen, if you want a tomato, come see me — I’ll give you one. But don’t come and rip off premature vegetables that aren’t even ready to be eaten,” Ledwith said. “We put a lot of effort into this stuff, and I just think it’s a shame that people come out and steal from you.”
Tracy Willette, Bangor Parks and Recreation director, said this theft isn’t uncommon, given the department has received theft complaints each year since the garden opened in 2011. Parks and Rec runs the community garden.
But this summer the thefts have been more common than in past summers..."

The Liberal Crackup | Power Line

The Liberal Crackup | Power Line:
"...The Wall Street Journal ran an excerpt from Mark Lilla’s new book, The Once and Future Liberal, coming out on Tuesday that we mentioned here yesterday.
Image result for 1984 QuotesHere’s a link to the whole piece if you are a WSJ subscriber, but if not here are two of the better paragraphs in it:
As a teacher, I am increasingly struck by a difference between my conservative and progressive students. Contrary to the stereotype, the conservatives are far more likely to connect their engagements to a set of political ideas and principles. Young people on the left are much more inclined to say that they are engaged in politics as an X, concerned about other Xs and those issues touching on X-ness. And they are less and less comfortable with debate.
Over the past decade a new, and very revealing, locution has drifted from our universities into the media mainstream: Speaking as an X…This is not an anodyne phrase. It sets up a wall against any questions that come from a non-X perspective. Classroom conversations that once might have begun, I think A, and here is my argument, now take the form, Speaking as an X, I am offended that you claim B. What replaces argument, then, are taboos against unfamiliar ideas and contrary opinions.

Warren did not say a word about the state’s encroachment on individual freedoms or excessive central economic planning."

Why Global Warming Alarmism Is Wrong | Power Line

Why Global Warming Alarmism Is Wrong | Power Line
"Dr. Judith Curry is one of the leading realist voices in the climate science community, even though she has now moved on from what she considers a hopelessly politicized field.
This 12-minute interview is a good introduction to some (by no means all) of the reasons why global warming alarmism is wrong, and why politics has badly compromised, if not completely ruined, a nascent scientific discipline.
Again, this is an introduction, not a master class, but it is well worth your time:

Notable quote:
On balance, I don’t see any particular dangers from greenhouse warming. [Humans do] influence climate to some extent, what we do with land-use changes and what we put into the atmosphere. But I don’t think it’s a large enough impact to dominate over natural climate variability.

China to enforce U.N. sanctions against North Korea, will block coal, iron ore, fish imports - Washington Times

China to enforce U.N. sanctions against North Korea, will block coal, iron ore, fish imports - Washington Times:

Image result for flickr commons images China Flag"China said Monday it will begin enforcing tough new U.N. economic sanctions on North Korea over its nuclear and missile programs, announcing its will start blocking imports of coal, iron ore and other goods early next month.
China is by far Pyongyang’s biggest trading partner, but analysts are divided on how much the new sanctions will harm North Korea’s already isolated economy. Beijing has in the past also been hesitant to push too hard against the regime of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for fear it could collapse and produce even greater regional instability."
