There are pivotal moments; events which take place that are so shocking we forever remember where we were and what we were doing when we heard the news. The Space Shuttle Challenger exploding shortly after takeoff was my first unbelievable moment. President Reagan lifted the spirits of the American people. He spoke of the heroes, the American dreamers who lost their lives, “…as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and "slipped the surly bonds of earth" to "touch the face of God." The country was united.

"On Sunday and Monday, the broadcast networks seized on the personal Facebook comments of mid-level congressional staffer Elizabeth Lauten criticizing the Obama daughters – devoting over 14 minutes of national news air time to the controversy in the period of two days.
However, it took those same networks several days to even notice the video comments of ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber crediting "the stupidity of the American voter" for passage of the law – providing only 8 minutes of coverage to the much larger scandal.
NBC's Today and Nightly News gave the Lauten story 6 minutes 13 seconds, nearly three times what they gave to the Gruber story (2 minutes 23 seconds).
ABC's Good Morning America and World News Tonight offered 2 minutes 37 seconds, double the 1 minute 6 seconds they allocated to the Gruber video."

I’ve been hearing quite a bit about this alleged war being carried out against black people.
I’ve been told from numerous sources that the killing of Michael Brown is but another piece of evidence that, in the words of someone on my Facebook page, blacks are ‘hunted’ in this country.
Black people are under attack, we’re informed.
Cops, especially, are roaming the streets executing innocent black men in cold blood, for no reason, and without ever being held accountable for it.
And then out come the statistics:
A black person is killed by a cop every day.
A black man is 20 times more likely to be shot by a police officer.
Law enforcement is responsible for more black deaths than sharks and lightening combined.
And so on.
Unfortunately, these numbers don’t take into account how many of those black people were killed by a cop while trying to kill a cop.
Apparently, in the world of Shocking Statistics Used to Prove a Liberal Argument, such details are somehow irrelevant.
Could it be that a companion study might prove that black males are also 20 times more likely to violently attack police officers?
Has anyone checked up on that angle?

Almost 40% of appraisers surveyed from Sept. 15 through Nov. 7 reported experiencing pressure to inflate values, according to Allterra Group LLC, a for-profit appraiser-advocacy firm based in Salisbury, Md. That figure was 37% in the survey for the previous year.
“If you thought what was happening before was an embarrassment, wait until the second time around,” said Joan Trice, Allterra’s chief executive and founder of the Collateral Risk Network, which represents appraisers employed by lenders and other companies and has been meeting with regulators to discuss concerns about appraisers being pressured into inflating values.

That seems to be the mantra of the U.S. real estate industry. A place where home values must always rise no matter what. After all, there’s nothing better for an economy than pricing out average citizens from their means of shelter.
As the WSJ reports, inflated home appraisals have become such a concern that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is looking into it. Which means precisely nothing will be done to stop it. After all, it is official government policy to encourage risky loans to keep housing bubble 2.0 inflated. The individuals were thought to have ties to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, an organization designated as a terrorist group by the State Department.
