Parent to Obama: Let me tell you about the Common Core test Malia and Sasha don’t have to take but Eva does

Parent to Obama: Let me tell you about the Common Core test Malia and Sasha don’t have to take but Eva does:
"Dear President Obama,

We have something very important in common: daughters in the seventh grade.
Since your family walked onto the national stage in 2007, I’ve had a feeling that our younger daughters have a lot in common, too.

Like my daughter Eva, Sasha appears to be a funny, smart, loving girl, who has no problem speaking her mind, showing her feelings, or tormenting her older sister.

There is, however, one important difference between them: Sasha attends private school, while Eva goes to public school.

Don’t get me wrong, I fully support your decision to send Malia and Sasha to private school, where it is easier to keep them safe and sheltered.
I would have done the same.
But because she is in private school, Sasha does not have to take Washington’s standardized test, the D.C. CAS, which means you don’t get a parent’s-eye view of the annual high-stakes tests taken by most of America’s children."

Iran Wins Seat on UN Women's Rights Commission

Iran Wins Seat on UN Women's Rights Commission:
Iran made significant strides in gaining power in the United Nations Economic and Social Council this week, confirming their place on five sub-committees
Most controversial among these is their appointment to the Commission on the Status of Women, which would give the nation influence over global women's rights.
In a press release announcing a new term for the committees under the Economic and Social Council-- whose theme this term will be “the future of humanitarian affairs: towards greater inclusiveness, coordination, interoperability and effectiveness”-- the UN announced that Iran will serve on the Commissions on Population and Development, Science and Technology for Development, the Committee for Programme Coordination and on Non-Governmental Organizations, and the Commission on the Status of Women.
The United States has objected to Iran's election to these positions.

Joseph Goebbels used his media in the same manner------Media Matters, New York Times Deceptively Edit Bundy Video To Smear Him as a Racist

Media Matters, New York Times Deceptively Edit Bundy Video To Smear Him as a Racist:
George Soros-funded Media Matters and the fledgling New York Times are taking a page from the MSNBC playbook of editing video in order to fit their narrative and twist the actual occurrence of an event. (watch video below)
This is done in an effort not as journalists, but as propagandist activists.
After all, with Soros’ buddy Barack Obama in the White House constantly fanning the flames of racial, gender, and economic divide, they must give the rabid progressive base some fuel for the fire.
MSNBC has been caught deceptively editing video to help drive the progressive false and slanderous narrative that those in the Tea Party movement and also other conservatives are hate-filled racists.
They deceptively edited a video from a Million Vet March in October 2013 to make it appear as if the protestor was the instigator in an altercation with police when he was not.
They deceptively edited a clip of testimony given by one of the fathers of a Sandy Hookvictim to make it appear as though pro-gun rights advocates heckled the dad for no reason.
MSNBC deceptively edited statements by a Republican congressman to make it sound like he referred to food stamp recipients as rapists, pedophiles, and murderers.
The list goes on and on.

Here is how the far-left, George Soros funded propagandists at Media Matters edited Bundy’s speech:
"Let me tell, talk to you about the Mexicans, and these are just things I know about the negroes. I want to tell you one more thing I know about the negro. When I go, went, go to Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and I would see these little government houses, and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there’s always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch. They didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.
And because they were basically on government subsidy — so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never, they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered are they were better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things? Or are they better off under government subsidy?
You know they didn’t get more freedom, they got less freedom — they got less family life, and their happiness — you could see it in their faces — they wasn’t happy sitting on that concrete sidewalk. Down there they was probably growing their turnips — so that’s all government, that’s not freedom".

What is quoted above is the middle of Bundy’s speech.
The narrative being pushed based upon this edited video is that Bundy is an outright racist.
However, looking at what the propagandists at Media Matters edited out of the video puts what Bundy said in a completely different context and perspective."

Here is what Bundy said in the beginning.
"… and so what I’ve testified to you — I was in the Watts riot, I seen the beginning fire and I seen that last fire. What I seen is civil disturbance. People are not happy, people are thinking they don’t have their freedoms, they didn’t have these things, and they didn’t have them. We’ve progressed quite a bit from that day until now, and we sure don’t want to go back. We sure don’t want the colored people to go back to that point. We sure don’t want these Mexican people to go back to that point. And we can make a difference right now by taking care of some of these bureaucracies, and do it in a peaceful way."

Now, here is what Bundy said at the end of the actual clip.
"Now, let me talk about the Spanish people. You know, I understand that they come over here against our Constitution and cross our borders. But they’re here and they’re people — and I’ve worked side by side a lot of them. Don’t tell me they don’t work, and don’t tell me they don’t pay taxes. And don’t tell me they don’t have better family structures than most of us white people. When you see those Mexican families, they’re together, they picnic together, they’re spending their time together, and I’ll tell you in my way of thinking they’re awful nice people. And we need to have those people join us and be with us not, not come to our party."

.......But, this is what the left does when they see that they are losing an argument or losing at an issue.
They pick a target, freeze it, polarize it, and personalize it.
They do what they have to do to incite fear, anger, and resentment so that they can bring more people into the controlling arms of big government.
They go after people, not institutions, just as Saul Alinsky instructed. It makes it personal.

Cop Out

Article | Cop Out
New York pays more police in retirement than to patrol our streets — yet pols do nothing to address our skyrocketing pension costs
......The mayor is right — but there’s another threat to the NYPD’s crime-fighting success, too. We now have more retired cops than active police officers, and the multibillion-dollar bill for their pension and health benefits harms our ability to hire new ones.
In December 2001, a month before Bloomberg took office, New York had 39,297 cops. Today, the city has 34,510 to protect us — and by the time the mayor leaves office in eight months, we’ll have 34,483 — a cut of nearly 5,000 pairs of eyes.
Yet spending has increased.
During Bloomberg’s final year, city will spend $8.7 billion on the police department, nearly double the 2002 figure and more than three times the rate of inflation.
How’s that possible?
It’s mostly because pension and health benefits cost ever more.
The $4.3 billion taxpayers will spend on salaries and wages for police officers (and a contingent of administrative staff) this year has only just kept up with inflation over the Bloomberg years. By contrast, the pension budget has quadrupled — from $1.1 to $4.4 billion.
We’ll spend more on cops’ benefits this year than on salaries.

Common Core and Communism

Common Core and Communism:
"The central theme of these “science standards” is to teach that we should be reducing our use of fossil fuels, the primary energy sources our nation and the world requires.
What these standards do in reality is repeat and reinforce federal government laws and regulations to justify its CO2 emissions regulations based on the current method of computing the Social Cost of Carbon, but these “costs” are pure fiction.
None of the computer models that have predicted global warming over the past four decades have been accurate.
None are capable of representing the state of the Earth’s vastly complex climate.
The sooner Common Core is removed from the nation’s education system, the better.

"Responsibility" for thee but not for me---------‘420’ Revelers Leave Golden Gate Park with 10,000 Pounds of Garbage

‘420’ Revelers Leave Golden Gate Park with 10,000 Pounds of Garbage
The mellow, "peace now," countercultural, environmentally conscious “420” celebration deposited 10,000 pounds of garbage on what is known as Hippie Hill in Golden Gate Park, leaving volunteers and park workers to clean up the mess.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s website SF Gate, this year’s celebration drew a massive amount of revelers estimated at between 10,000 and 15,000. The pot smokers' untidiness will cost the city more than $10,000 in cleanup costs.
The immense load of empty bags of chips, candy wrappers, and snack containers left behind was evidence that it was indeed the remnants of weed smokers with a case of the munchies on steroids.
The SF Gate reported that one father, Dan Kling, who had taken his 2½-year-old daughter to the park for some family time, was repulsed by the behavior of the “420” partiers. Although he didn’t mind that there was a party, he objected to the pigsty that they left behind. "If you can't be responsible for yourselves, you can't have a party," he said.

World War II[edit]

At the onset of World War II, Rolfe worked at the British Embassy in Rio de Janeiro before going to London, England in 1943 to join the Women's Auxiliary Air Force. Because of her fluency in the French language, she was recruited into the Special Operations Executive (SOE), where she was trained as a wireless operator.
On 5 April 1944, she was dropped near the city of Orléans in occupied France, where she was deployed to work with the "Historian" network run by George Wilkinson. Her job was to transmit Maquis and other important radio messages to London. Beyond her wireless duties, that included reporting on German troop movements and organizing arms and supply drops, she actively participated in missions with members of the French Resistance against the German occupiers and was involved in a gun battle in the small town of Olivet just south of Orléans.
Following the D-Day landings, an increasingly aggressive manhunt by the Gestapo led to the arrest of her superior officer. Nonetheless, Rolfe continued to work until her arrest at a transmitting house in Nargis on 31 July 1944. Transported to Fresnes Prison in Paris, she was interrogated repeatedly and brutally tortured until August 1944, when she was shipped to Ravensbrück concentration camp. According to an admission made by a German officer after the war’s end, she was so ill that she could not walk. On 5 February 1945, 30-year-old Lilian Rolfe was executed by the Germans and her body disposed of in the crematorium.
Three other female members of the SOE were also executed at Ravensbrück: Denise BlochCecily Lefort, and Violette Szabo.

"Overall, the agency integral in managing ObamaCare saw a $7 million increase in its payroll from its 2012 level of $69 million.
According to reports, the average raise issued was more than $4,700. Some, however, were much higher.
For example, Data Center Chief Corey B. Stevenson enjoyed an extra $13,036 in income last year, bumping his annual salary to $157,421. His experience is apparently common to many of the agency’s executives, many of whom bring home well above $200,000 annually.
Even Henry Chao, the agency’s deputy director of the office of information blamed for his direct involvement in the botched rollout, enjoyed a salary of more than $163,000 last year."

What could possibly go wrong?--------HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: Telling Students to Earn Less

Instapundit » Blog Archive » HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE:
HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: Telling Students to Earn Less: Obama now calls for reforming his bleeding college loan program.
The federal student loan program is becoming so costly to taxpayers that even President Obama is pretending to fix it. Readers will recall Mr. Obama as the man who has spent much of his Presidency expanding this program, creating new ways for borrowers to avoid repayment, and then campaigning about these dubious achievements on campuses nationwide.

Now Team Obama is acknowledging that his policies are turning out to be more expensive than he claimed. Participation in federal debt-forgiveness programs is surging. In a mere six months the number of borrowers who’ve signed up for such plans has increased to more than 1.3 million from less than a million, with total balances rising to $72 billion from $52 billion. Maybe the White House didn’t understand that when you give people an economic incentive not to repay a loan, more people won’t repay.
Plus this:
Pay As You Earn allows students under certain circumstances to borrow an unlimited amount and then cap monthly payments at 10% of their discretionary income. If they choose productive work in the private economy, the loans are forgiven after 20 years. But if they choose to work in government or for a nonprofit, Uncle Sugar forgives their loans after 10 years.

For aspiring community organizers who go to college and then grad school before moving into a job that the government defines as public service, the forgiven debt can be $150,000 or more, courtesy of the taxpayer. And unlike with some other federal programs, when the government forgives the debt of one of the exalted class of nonprofit or government workers, the do-gooder doesn’t have to report it as income to the IRS. Who wouldn’t want to pick up $150,000 tax-free?

Energized by Mr. Obama’s 2011 expansion, Pay As You Earn has been a slow-motion bailout for law schools, which saw diminishing applications in the wake of the financial crisis. Now the money is still rolling in thanks to more leveraged students. Upon graduation the median law school grad in 2012 was carrying more than $128,000 in grad-school debt, up from $77,000 in 2004.

But how much of it will ever be repaid? At least one creative school, Georgetown, last year offered to pay the students’ monthly bills under the Pay As You Earn program while simultaneously raising tuitions. This essentially makes taxpayers pay the entire cost and turns the loans into six-figure grants.
Next scam: Law schools start “nonprofit” law firms that hire their own graduates, thus boosting their U.S. News rankings by ensuring their grads have jobs while letting their students get out from under debt in half the time. Plus, faculty can have high-paying side jobs managing things at the “nonprofit.”
Actually, that doesn’t sound bad. Did I say “scam?” I meant, “public service opportunity.”

9/11 Memorial Refuses to Back Down From Exhibit Critics Claim Will Offend Muslims | TheBlaze.com: "Part of the debate surrounding the video has focused on whether it’s appropriate to use terms like “jihad” and “Islamist” when discussing the attacks, the New York Times reported.
Both terms are affiliated with the Islamic faith and, without proper context, critics say they could lead to some problems when it comes to perception.
In consulting with a diverse pool of faith leaders, the 9/11 Memorial Museum screened the “The Rise of Al Qaeda” in an effort to receive feedback from those involved. According to the Times, some individuals on an interfaith advisory council “took strong exception to the film,” feeling as though it showed Muslims in a negative light."

Hawaiian Student Sues After Being Ordered to Stop Handing Out Pocket Constitutions

Hawaiian Student Sues After Being Ordered to Stop Handing Out Pocket Constitutions - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
The complaint alleges that on January 16, 2014, plaintiff Merritt Burch, who is president of the UH Hilo chapter of Young Americans for Liberty (YAL), and a fellow student YAL member were participating in an outdoor event where student groups set up tables to distribute literature.
Observing other students walking around and handing out items, Burch and her friend walked out from behind YAL's table to likewise hand out Constitutions and YAL information cards. A UH Hilo administrator ordered Burch and her companion to stop approaching students and get back behind their table, dismissing Burch's protest about her constitutional rights.
This is my favorite part, where the university administation tells Burch to go hand out her darned Constitutions on a tiny muddy plot on the edge of campus because "this isn't really the '60s anymore."
A week later, in an orientation meeting for student organizations, another administrator reiterated the rule against passing out literature. Burch and Vizzone were told that if they wanted to protest, the proper place to do so would be in UH Hilo's "free speech zone," a sloping, one-third acre area on the edge of campus. The "free speech zone" represents approximately 0.26 percent of UH Hilo's total area and is muddy and prone to flooding in Hilo's frequent rain. The administrator further observed, "This isn't really the '60s anymore" and "people can't really protest like that anymore."

Teen in custody for alleged attempted carjacking with sawed-off shotgun | MLive.com
MUSKEGON, MI – A 17-year-old Muskegon man is in custody for an alleged attempted carjacking that took place 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at Mercy Health’s Hackley Campus, 1700 Clinton St.

No one was injured in the incident.
Two Mercy Health employees were headed out to their parked cars after an evening shift at the time the crime occurred, police said.
The two individuals reported they often use a “buddy system” when going to their cars.
The employees observed a group of three males outside the building as they were walking, said Muskegon Police Detective Captain Shawn Bride.
The group split up with one man heading off in another direction.
When one of the two employees, a woman, entered her car, she heard a knock on her car door, looked up and saw two males, one of them holding a sawed-off shotgun, Bride said.
The man with the gun allegedly said, “Get out of the car, give us your keys now,” according to Bride.
“The intent was obviously to steal the car, but she didn’t allow that to happen,” Bride said. The woman left the car, but took the keys with her.
“She basically jumps out of her car and runs away,” Bride said.
The woman headed toward a hospital entrance.
The suspects fled on foot.

The mayor made the proposal, along with those for other sweeping regulations that he said would update emission standards and help curb air pollution.
Instead of wood-burning fireplaces, de Blasio wants to allow only cleaner-burning units, such as those that use natural gas.
Residents who already have wood-burning fireplaces would be allowed to keep them, but would be required to use only firewood that has 20 percent moisture or less, according to the Department of Environmental Protection."
