LIBERTY REVIEW

LIBERTY REVIEW:

http://www.libertyreview76.blogspot.com/2014/06/the-dog-ate-my-homework-by-tammy.html

I’m curious, what took place which caused them to throw out such a whopper of a tale?  Did they hit a brick wall or did they intentionally want to see if we would fall for the excuse which teachers in their own unions won’t even buy?  Over the weekend, Congress and the rest of America was informed by the IRS that the dog ate their homework.

Dude, you want 40 burgers with your order?--------------------U Washington students start ‘Uber for marijuana’ delivery service

U Washington students start ‘Uber for marijuana’ delivery service:
Two students at the University of Washington in Seattle are starting a business that they describe as “Uber for marijuana.”
Josiah Tullis and Megh Vakharia are planning to launch a phone app called “Canary” in Seattle late next month.
"Canary is an on-demand service that allows you to get cannabis delivered right to your doorstep,” Vakharia said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Medical-marijuana cardholders will be able to select different strains of pot from different medical dispensaries and then have their order delivered by a cardholding driver.
Users can buy in quantities ranging from a gram to an ounce.
The app also describes the sensations users can expect to experience with each strain.
For example, it describes a variety called "White Widow" as "Happy. Euphoric. Uplifted."
...The students said they are already interviewing drivers from Uber and Lyft who are interested in working at Canary instead.
Those drivers will also have to undergo a background check.
...Canary also has a feature called "Munchies," where users can have the drivers bring along "popular food and drink items."
"Yeah, we thought of everything," the website states.

Gallup's Stunning Explanation For America's Unemployment Epidemic: Obesity

Gallup's Stunning Explanation For America's Unemployment Epidemic: Obesity | Zero Hedge
"Two things became abundantly clear during today's Yellen press conference:
i) the Fed no longer has any idea what it is doing, or where it is steering the economy, exemplified by the Chairwoman's response that she has little "confidence" in the Fed's current set of forecasts (because one can be wrong only for so long about the economy before one indeed loses all confidence in one's abilities), however since everyone is benefiting for now as the asset bubble is still growing and asset prices are still rising, there is nothing the Fed will change about its current line of action and
ii) the Fed has no idea how or why unemployment - as massaged as it may be courtesy of tens of millions of Americans dropping out of the labor force - is as high and as structural as it is.
Of course, all of this should have been quite obvious to everyone else years ago when trillion after trillion in excess liquidity did nothing to stimulate the economy (as can be seen in the -2.0% GDP Q1 GDP is set to print in its final revision), and certainly nothing to boost employment, particularly long-term unemployment - those who are out of work for 12 months or more - to above-consensus levels.
So it appears there is something far more structural with America's long-term unemployment problem, something not even the "smartest academics in the (Marriner Eccles) room" can diagnose. Surprisingly, earlier today Gallup reported one factor that may be contributing to America's unemployment malaise - the same problem that is the reason for the insolvent US welfare state coffers: obesity.
According to Gallup, Americans who have been out of work for a year or more are much more likely to be obese than those unemployed for a shorter time. The obesity rate rises from 22.8% among those unemployed for two weeks or less to 32.7% among those unemployed for 52 weeks or more.

12 Trademarks Declared Less Offensive Than Redskins

12 Trademarks Declared Less Offensive Than Redskins | The Daily Caller:
Here are twelve other trademarked names that apparently didn’t come up on anyone’s offense radar.
Figgas over NiggasThis pending trademark seeks to cover a line of “Apparel for dancers, namely, tee shirts, sweatshirts, pants, leggings, shorts and jackets.” “Niggas,” of course, is a slang version of the word “nigger,” a term considered highly offensive towards black Americans.
Kraut Kap: Another recently-filed trademark, this one for a line of plastic lids. “Kraut” was made famous in World War II as a derogatory term for opposing German soldiers, as well as Germans in general.
Dago Swagg: A label created for a line of clothing. ”Dago” is a corruption of the common name Diego, and is used in English-speaking countries as an offensive term for those of Italian descent, and occasionally people from other Mediterranean countries as well.
Cracka Azz Skateboards: Unsurprisingly, this trademark was taken out for a line of skateboards and longboards, as well as associated clothing such as bandannas. While the USPTO helpfully notes that “The wording ‘cracka azz’ has no meaning in a foreign language,” “cracka” is a slang version of “cracker,” which in this context is a term of derision for whites, used primarily within the black community.
You Can’t Make A Housewife Out Of A Whore: This trademark for T-shirts and hats appears to imply that women involved in prostitution can never transition into the domestic role of a housewife. Such an accusation would certainly “bring them into contempt or disrepute,” the stated reasoning for eliminating the Redskins trademark.
Blanco Basura: A seemingly innocuous phrase, Blanco Basura, rendered into English, is actually the highly offensive slur “white trash.” White trash is a derogatory insult that typically refers to poor, white Americans, who have a penchant for crime and a patent disrespect for authority. Apparently, they thought they could go unnoticed designing ahateful beer.
Home Cookin Biscuit Head: Intentionality, as we well know, is not required in order for something to be highly, highly offensive. They should’ve done their due diligence before designing this logo for the restaurant industry. The term “biscuit head” has its origins in the Korean War, when American GIs picked this unseemly term to describe the shape of Koreans’ heads.
‘teensdoporn.com’: This is a classic example (Safe For Work) of a harmful stereotype used to justify condescension toward teens in the form of countless hours of sex-ed in high school. It wrongfully supposes that all teens are sex-crazed maniacs, who given the chance, will opt for trading their sexuality on a website for fame and fortune.
Gypsy Soule Women Who Live By Their Own Rules: This line of makeup containers and tote bags is a double whammy. “Gypsy” is a term for the itinerant Romani people that derives from the erroneous belief they originated from Egypt, rather than India. In addition, the “Live by their own rules” component hearkens to the common stereotype that Romani routinely ignore the law and engage in criminality.
Mammy Jamia’s: A company going by the name of A & S Cairns Limited has decided to attach its good name to an antebellum slur used to refer to an enslaved black woman who was in charge of household affairs, particularly caring for white children. The product? Frozen fruits and vegetables. Was it really worth it, A &S?
Uppity Negro: Intended to be imprinted on mugs and apparel, this trademarkreferences the frequently used adjective “uppity” to describe blacks who agitated for greater respect and civil rights in the Jim Crow-era South.
All Natural My Dadz Nutz Carmelized Jumbo Redskins: Available at MyDadzNutz.com, this line of savory peanuts is unlikely to run into trouble for applying “redskin” to a line of peanuts. One might argue the two terms describe different things, and so the overlap does not matter, but that hasn’t stopped the old name for Brazil nuts from fading away. Kaffir limes, meanwhile, are a discouraged name in the Oxford Companion to Food, as “kaffir” is a highly offensive term for blacks in South Africa.

Crooks and morons. We got 'em here in Muskegon too------Dallas County commissioners unwittingly back slavery reparations

Dallas County commissioners unwittingly back slavery reparations | Dallas Morning News
The Dallas County Commissioners Court declared Tuesday that African-Americans deserve reparations for slavery, even though most commissioners didn’t seem to know that they were doing so.
The issue arose in a resolution written by John Wiley Price, the county’s only black commissioner. Described only as a “Juneteenth Resolution,” it was approved unanimously.
Other commissioners admitted after their meeting Tuesday that they hadn’t read the document before voting for it.
...The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting gave no sign that reparations would be a topic.
The “Juneteenth Resolution,” commemorating the day slaves in Texas learned of their freedom, seemed from its description to be just another routine proclamation.
Others approved on Tuesday expressed support for Men’s Health Month — it’s June — the American Kidney Fund, and an employee in the tax office who’s been on the job for 25 years.
But Price’s resolution went beyond taking note of Juneteenth; it included a long list of injustices endured by blacks, from slavery to Jim Crow to predatory lending practices.
Then, in its final paragraph, it declared that the suffering of African-Americans should be “satisfied with monetary and substantial reparations.”
Price read the entire document aloud at the meeting.
But that happens with every resolution, and the commissioners didn’t seem to be listening with a critical ear. With no discussion, Price’s resolution was approved by voice vote.
Then, about an hour later, the other commissioners complained that they hadn’t been given copies of the resolution before they voted.
It wasn’t part of their meeting packet, they said.
Nor was it posted on the county’s website.
Price said in an interview that he didn’t know how that happened.
He said he wrote the resolution after reading an article in The Atlantic making the case for reparations.
Other ethnic groups, including American Indians and Japanese-Americans, have received compensation for past mistreatment, he noted.
“We are the only people who haven’t been compensated,” he said.

Nursing home care now costs more than twice seniors' average income | Detroit Free Press | freep.com:
"“People will go into a nursing home and spend down their savings they have in a very short time,” said Lisa Dedden Cooper, advocacy manager for AARP Michigan.
And that, in turn, means taxpayers eventually pick up the cost of their care.
The report, an update to the 2011 Raising Expectations report, assesses long-term care by affordability, quality and choice.
It ranked Michigan 31st overall among states — a result of a mixed-bag of measures.

Justina Pelletier's legal nightmare should frighten all parents

Justina Pelletier's legal nightmare should frighten all parents | Fox News:
"Back in February, 2013 the Connecticut teen went to Children's Hospital for a consultation to complement her medical care at Boston's New England Medical Center (NEMC).
NEMC doctors were treating Justina for mitochondrial disease, a little-understood physical illness affecting energy production inside cells that is believed to cause muscle weakness, among many other symptoms.
But the Children's Hospital doctors disagreed.
They claimed Justina was psychiatrically ill, had no real physical problems, and was actually suffering with somatoform disorder -- a condition in which underlying, unresolved psychological problems make someone act physically ill.
When Justina's parents rejected that interpretation of her condition, Children's Hospital refused to release her.
Ultimately, they went to court and were able to convince a judge to award permanent custody of Justina to the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF).
Let's reduce that story to its basic truth: Boston Children's Hospital and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts refused to return a child to her family because they believed she should be treated as mentally ill, not physically ill, even though doctors at an esteemed Boston teaching hospital (NEMC) disagreed and her parents wanted to have the NEMC doctors keep treating her.
And, guess what?  After all the "expert" psychiatric care provided on a locked psychiatry unit at Children's Hospital for Justina, after well over a year being separated from her parents and sisters and her pets, she remains in a wheelchair.
After all that time and all that psychiatric care, the consensus is now that she suffers with physical symptoms, just like NEMC physicians always said she did.
After the "kidnapping" of Justina by Children's Hospital and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, everyone now agrees she can just go home."

Power To The People! Zingerman's Deli Will Become A Workers' Co-Op –  Deadline Detroit:
"In the next few years, Zingerman's deli in Ann Arbor plans to adopt a radical business model, becoming a worker cooperative, where its 600-plus employees will own the company and influence its direction, reports Richard Feloni in Business Insider.
Zingerman's has long been an outlier when it comes to business practice, Feloni notes, but this is a true transformation.
A worker co-op is an old business model that has seen renewed interest post-recession due to a lack of investors creating jobs in communities. "

A.  Introduction

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a component of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has a continuing and mission critical responsibility for accepting custody of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) from U.S. Border Patrol and other Federal agencies and transporting these juveniles to Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) shelters located throughout the continental United States. ICE is seeking the services of a responsible vendor that shares the philosophy of treating all UAC with dignity and respect, while adhering to standard operating procedures and policies that allow for an effective, efficient, and incident free transport. The Contractor shall provide unarmed escort staff, including management, supervision, manpower, training, certifications, licenses, drug testing, equipment, and supplies necessary to provide on-demand escort services for non-criminal/non-delinquent unaccompanied alien children ages infant to 17 years of age, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year. Transport will be required for either category of UAC or individual juveniles, to include both male and female juveniles. There will be approximately 65,000 UAC in total: 25% local ground transport, 25% via ICE charter and 50% via commercial air. Escort services include, but are not limited to, assisting with: transferring physical custody of UAC from DHS to Health and Human Services (HHS) care via ground or air methods of transportation (charter or commercial carrier), property inventory, providing juveniles with meals, drafting reports, generating transport documents, maintaining/stocking daily supplies, providing and issuing clothing as needed, coordinating with DHS and HHS staff, travel coordination, limited stationary guard services to accommodate for trip disruptions due to inclement weather, faulty equipment, or other exigent circumstances. In emergency situations, the Contractor shall be called on to provide temporary shelter locations (such as trailers) with shower facilities for juveniles who are pending placement with HHS when bed space is unavailable nationwide for extended periods of time. The Contractor shall provide temporary guard services and other support as necessary during these emergencies.

"Using the term “acquis” – the European Union term for legally biding totality of all its laws and directives – Bromund wrote that the panel has an incrementalist agenda.
“The POA’s approach is brilliant, if perverse: claim to be the centerpiece of any UN program, institution, or treaty that has any relevance at all to small arms, build up the acquis, and then argue that even unrelated treaties have to be interpreted in light of that acquis,” Bromund added. "

New York Democrats Pushing Legislation To Give Illegal Immigrants Right To Vote… | Right Wing News: "(Reuters) – A New York lawmaker wants to grant many of the rights of citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants and non-citizen residents, including the right to vote in local and state elections, under a bill introduced on Monday.
The New York Is Home Act is the first bill in the United States that would provide such broad rights to non-citizens who can show they have lived and paid taxes in New York for at least three years, according to the bill’s sponsor, state Senator Gustavo Rivera.
“Nearly 3 million people in the state of New York currently reside here and make New York their home, but can’t fully participate in civic, political, and economic life,” Rivera, a Democrat who represents the Bronx in New York City, said in a telephone interview."

Come on Jesse, we know what you really mean. You racist!------Jesse Jackson To Sue City Over 'Racist' Non-Partisan Elections

Jesse Jackson To Sue City Over 'Racist' Non-Partisan Elections | Truth Revolt:
"Speaking to a the Greenville Baptist Church in South Carolina, Jesse Jackson said he planned on suing the city over their recent 4-3 vote to change its elections to non-partisan election because its racist.
“It costs more to run non-partisan elections.
It’s more difficult politically, and non-partisan elections make the process more difficult for minorities to win,” said Jackson.
The non-partisan elections would do away with party labels in municipal races.
Jackson claims that the new elections are nothing more than a “scheme” to destroy the minority votes.
“It’s nothing but an at-large scheme,” Jackson said.
“You’ll have an all-white City Council come November if this stands.”
But Brian Anderson from Downtrend.com points out that Jackson is correct about non-partisan elections hurting the minority candidates but ensures that Jackson is wrong about labeling the city racist.
“The same rules for everyone is never discriminatory," Anderson writes.
"And, in fact non-partisan elections make candidates work harder and require voters to get more involved in the process.”"

Communities throughout the U.S. and Canada are waking up to the dark side of North America’s energy boom: Trains hauling crude oil are crashing, exploding and spilling in record numbers as a fast-growing industry outpaces the federal government’s oversight.
In the 11 months since a runaway oil train derailed in the middle of a small town in Quebec,incinerating 47 people, the rolling virtual pipelines have unleashed crude oil into an Alabama swamp, forced more than 1,000 North Dakota residents to evacuatedangled from a bridge in Philadelphia and smashed into an industrial building near Pittsburgh.
