Michigan police big and small defend use of military gear

Michigan police big and small defend use of military gear | MLive.com
Grenade launchers - and snowshoes
...Across Michigan, departments secured $43.8 million in donated equipment since 1995, including 169 utility vehicles (the previously mentioned Humvees), the 17 mine-resistant vehicles, 9 grenade launchers and those thousands of rifles.
But the chiefs defend the gear ‒ including the snowshoes ‒ saying the program saves taxpayers from footing the bill for simple things like desks and cabinets.
"Anything I don't have to spend money on is worth it," said Robert Kenny, chief of the tiny Thetford Township police in Genesee County, north of Flint. There are two full-time officers, including the chief, and three part-time officers...

Obama Claims He Yanked the US Economy Out of Worst Recession Since Great Depression | SavingtheRepublic: Video News & Opinion:

"This is just one laughable clip from his majesty’s interview with Chris “Tingles” Matthews talking about Trans-Pacific Partnership. Once again he like many likes to make the comparison of being in the worst recession since the Great Depression yet fact remains the numbers today are worse than they were then.

Did people in the 1930’s have:
– 2 mortgages with payments at or over 50% of their Debt-to-Income ratio?
– have credit card debt or personal debt $10-15,000++?
– 1 or 2 car loans of at least $15-20,000++?"

"Bad news for the climate change crowd here.  "Researchers at Duke..." This is the Duke lacrosse case Duke.  This is the Duke where all those faculty signed on believing that the lacrosse team had mistreated the dancer.  I mean, Duke is a liberal institution from top to bottom.  "Researchers at Duke University say global warming is not progressing as fast as it would under the most severe scenarios outlined by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change."

In other words, the computer models are not correct.

Global warming isn't happening anywhere near like the models said that it would be happening by now."

‘Concerned 8-Year-Old Citizen’ Pens Blistering Letter to Michelle Obama — and Some Folks Don’t Like It One Teeny Bit | TheBlaze.com:

"His name is Peter. He’s a “concerned 8-year-old citizen.” And when it comes to expressing his concerns about the direction America is headed, he sugarcoats nothing.

Peter’s shoot-from-the-hip sentiments were on full display in a blistering handwritten letter he penned to first lady Michelle Obama, which appeared in the Weekly Standard.

So why wasn’t the letter addressed to the president? Apparently Peter initially got miffed over the first lady’s much-maligned school lunch calorie cutback —

Your license, please: Some Tennessee residents don't know student loan problems could cost them their jobs

Your license, please: Some Tennessee residents don't know student loan problems could cost them their jobs - Watchdog.org:
"NASHVILLE — If you work in Tennessee and hold a professional license, pay those student loans.
Default on your loans and the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation will find you and contact the respective state boards, which can suspend your license.
Some people with a lot to lose told us they didn’t realize this could happen.
We talked to some of these people Monday at Nashville’s Centennial Park.
James Philpot and Chad Broom, two Nashville paramedics, for instance, said they didn’t know about the provision, though they are current on their loans.
Tennessee law had never applied to Rebecca Lindeman, who is from Pennsylvania and now disabled. She doesn’t like the law.
“Given these times I think it’s unfair if you’re making an effort to pay them,” said Lindeman, who had to get a license from the federal government to work as a veterinary technician."

The Environmental Insane Asylum

The Environmental Insane Asylum | Somewhat Reasonable
Earth Day was declared in 1970 and for the past 45 years we have all been living in the Environmental Insane Asylum, being told over and over again to believe things that are the equivalent of Green hallucinations.
Now the entire month of April has been declared Earth Month, but in truth not a day goes by when we are not assailed with the bold-faced lies that comprise environmentalism.
Around the globe, the worst part of this is that we are being victimized by people we are told to respect from the President of the United States to the Pope of the Catholic Church.
Their environmentalism is pure socialism.
...The fact that the Earth is now into the nineteenth year of a natural planetary cooling cycle seems to never be acknowledged or reported.
“The problem here,” says Prof. Carter, “is not that of climate change per se, but rather that of the sophisticated scientific brainwashing that has been inflicted on the public, bureaucrats and politicians alike.”
...A look at the globe from either of its two poles to its equator and everything in between tells us with simple logic that being able to determine its “temperature” is impossible.
The Earth, however, has gone through numerous warming and cooling cycles, all of which were the result of more or less solar radiation.
...Here’s the simple truth that most people are not told: The Sun warms the Earth and the Earth warms the atmosphere.
As for carbon dioxide, the amount generated by human activity represents a miniscule percentage of the 0.04% in the Earth’s atmosphere.
There has been more carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere—well before humans existed—contributing to the growth of all manner of vegetation which in turn generated oxygen.
...Whether it is the President or the Pope, or the countless politicians and bureaucrats, along with multitudes of “environmental” organizations, as well as self-serving “scientists”, all aided by the media, a virtual Green Army has been deliberately deceiving and misleading the citizens of planet Earth for four and a half decades.
It won’t stop any time soon, but it must before the charade of environmentalism leaves us all enslaved by the quest for political control over our lives that hides behind it.
We must escape the Environmental Insane Asylum in which they want us to live.

Fox News Producer Asks Earth Day Attendees Which Is a Bigger Threat, Climate Change or Terrorism? | Video | TheBlaze.com:

“I’m not a big recycler, but I feel that’s the steps to take towards if you want to make the world a better place,” one man told Watters.

“You don’t recycle, but you’re here on Earth Day?” the Fox News producer pressed.

“True,” the man replied.

Another man said he signed a petition on Earth Day.

“What was the petition for?” Watters asked.

“Um,” the man responded, seemingly unaware of what he signed."

Propaganda Works: A Significant Majority Of Americans Think The Economy Is Good... And Only Getting Better

Propaganda Works: A Significant Majority Of Americans Think The Economy Is Good... And Only Getting Better:
Americans’ perception of President Obama’s economic policies are on the mend according to a new report from CNN.
“For the first time since President Obama took office,” says journalist Matt Egan, “a significant majority of Americans give the economy two thumbs up.”
The findings are based on a poll conducted by CNN/ORC...
On top of that, Americans think the sunny economy will keep going. Over two-thirds of those polled believe the economy will be in good shape a year from now, compared with 38% who say it will be in poor shape.
The findings are the result of several factors including more jobs, healthier economic growth and cheap gas.
But what if, for the sake of argument, the factors CNN cites are complete conjecture?
Jobs, jobs, jobs: It’s no secret that people feel better about the economy when they’re confident they can get a job.

After years of sluggishness, more than 2.95 million jobs were created last year, making it the best year of employment growth since 1999.
Michael Snyder recently noted that the unemployment numbers are a massive lie.
One cannot cite job creation as a measure of economic health without also mentioning job losses and population growth rates.
Since 2008, according to Snyder, our population has grown by 16.8 million people but there has been a net loss of 140,000 jobs.
It’s also important to note that the jobs which have been created are most part-time or low wage.
Moreover, the reason the official unemployment rate is going down is because the government considers millions of long-term unemployed workers to “no longer be in the labor force.”
Currently a record 101.6 million working age Americans are not working.
Finally, if we look specifically at last year, net job gains are nowhere near what CNN says they were.
Last year’s entire net gain, when we include all the data and not just the cherry-picked statistics, is about 218,000 jobs.
Now, that is a “significant” difference in what CNN claims actually happened...
shadowstats-GDP-2014q4Healthier growth: The U.S. economy is growing again… Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of growth, rose 2.4% in 2014.
The government’s official statistics say the U.S. economy is growing again, but let’s get real.
There is no growth when you account for inflation.
This is made clear by the following real GDP chart from John Williams at ShadowStats.
CNN cites 2.4%, but when you account for inflation you end up with a negative growth rate.
That means our economy is not growing, but rather, has been shrinking for over a decade.
CNN goes on to cite other factors like improved consumer confidence and rising stock markets.
But as we know, consumer confidence has only improved because literal trillions of dollars have been injected into the marketplace in the form of credit for things like electronics, houses, cars and education.
That tap is starting to run dry.
And when the credit locks up, so too will any remaining momentum in the economy.
Further, should the Federal Reserve stop injecting money into the economy we would very quickly see a reversal in stock markets.
So, while a “significant majority” of Americans think the economy is doing good and even more people think it’ll be better next year, the stark reality is more than likely the exact opposite.
The end game is close and a lot of very influential people are warning that the economy is in serious trouble. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, who has been credited as the architect of America’s modern day monetary policy, says that we will soon experience a significant market event and that something bigis going to happen...

OBAMA’S AMERICA: 30% of Millennial men aren’t working

OBAMA’S AMERICA: 30% of Millennial men aren’t working | The American Mirror:
"The Millennial generation is the most highly educated one and yet the percentage of those not working is staggering.
According to a Pew Research Center study, 30 percent of Millennial men between the ages of 18 and 33 have no job.
About 8 percent are unemployed and 22 percent are not engaged in the workforce at all.
Pew’s analysis does not take into account those that consider themselves “underemployed.
Knox News notes previous generations of men at the same point in their lives, including Generation X and Baby Boomers, maintained a steady 20 percent jobless rate, so the 50 percent spike is significant.
Millennials lived through the “Great Recession,” and unlike previous recessions, when the unemployment rate decreased, job growth was slow.
” … the amount of people not participating in the labor force at all is unusually high,” according to the news service.
The Millennial generation may represent a fundamental shift in American culture beyond just employment rates.
Millennials were also recently dubbed the “Gayest Generation.”
A study from the Public Religion Research Institute finds 7 percent claim LGBT status, compared to 3.5 percent of the adult population."

Record 51 million immigrants in 8 years, will account for 82% of U.S. growth

Census: Record 51 million immigrants in 8 years, will account for 82% of U.S. growth | WashingtonExaminer.com
Legal and illegal immigrants will hit a record high of 51 million in just eight years and eventually account for an astounding 82 percent of all population growth in America, according to new U.S. Census figures.
A report from the Center for Immigration Studies that analyzed the statistics said that by 2023, one in seven U.S. residents will be an immigrant, rising to one in five by 2060 when the immigrant population totals 78 million.
But even more, the CIS report said that the surge in mostly legal immigrants will have a huge impact on the nation and taxpayers.
"These numbers have important implications for workers, schools, infrastructure, congestion and the environment," said Steven Camarota, the center's director of research.
"They also may have implications for our ability to successfully assimilate and integrate immigrants.
Yet there has been almost no national debate about bringing in so many people legally each year, which is the primary factor driving these numbers."

Obama Lied to Us for Years About How Close Iran Is to a Nuclear Bomb - The Rush Limbaugh Show:

"Now, of course Obama was just saying that about it taking a year for domestic consumption.  This is a huge admission.  Netanyahu comes to the United States, makes a speech criticizing the existing Iranian deal as he understands it before a joint session of Congress, and he's routinely lambasted by the Democrats and by the Drive-By Media.  One of the things he claimed was that Iran is within months of a bomb.

They have more centrifuges than anybody knows that they have, and they are continuing to use them, and they're ramping up.  They're not years away.  They're not 10 years away, they're not 13 years away, they are months away from being able to make a bomb."

Earth Day is over but the lies continue---18 spectacularly wrong apocalyptic predictions made around the time of the first Earth Day in 1970, expect more this year

18 spectacularly wrong apocalyptic predictions made around the time of the first Earth Day in 1970, expect more this year - AEI | Carpe Diem Blog » AEIdeas:
In the May 2000 issue of Reason Magazine, award-winning science correspondent Ronald Bailey wrote an excellent article titled “Earth Day, Then and Now” to provide some historical perspective on the 30th anniversary of Earth Day.
In that article, Bailey noted that around the time of the first Earth Day, and in the years following, there was a “torrent of apocalyptic predictions” and many of those predictions were featured in his Reason article.
Well, it’s now the 45th anniversary of  Earth Day, and a good time to ask the question again that Bailey asked 15 years ago:
How accurate were the predictions made around the time of the first Earth Day in 1970?
The answer: “The prophets of doom were not simply wrong, but spectacularly wrong,” according to Bailey.
Here are 18 examples of the spectacularly wrong predictions made around 1970 when the “green holy day” (aka Earth Day) started:
1. Harvard biologist George Wald estimated that “civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”
2. “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation,” wrote Washington University biologist Barry Commoner in the Earth Day issue of the scholarly journal Environment.
3. The day after the first Earth Day, the New York Times editorial page warned, “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.”
4. “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich confidently declared in the April 1970 Mademoiselle. “The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”

Sticks and Stones

By Tammy Derouin

Words are powerful.  They can be used for good and they can be used for evil.  Those who wish to control use them to instill fear and dependency.   Words, by themselves, are not physically harmful.  They may cause hurt feelings but they cannot cause broken bones or death simply because they passed through our ears.

An individual with a nefarious agenda will use words to cause a reaction to achieve a desired outcome. His choice of words will plant seeds; seeds he hopes others will nurture and cultivate.  Your reaction puts the control back into your hands.  Reacting without thought or investigation, allows bad seeds to grow.  If you refuse to blindly accept the words and investigate prior to reacting, you can kill evil seed before they take root.

I grew up prior to the invention of bubble wrap.  I also grew up with the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me.”  We now live in a bubble-wrap society.  Apparently, the powers that be wish to protect sensitive Americans from hearing and therefore using, certain words.

Isn’t it funny how words, which can only be seen or heard, are being targeted and banned?  Individuals who defy the political correct jargon of the New Word Order have themselves become targets....
