And our government does NOTHING to protect us!!!----The Threat to Melt the Electric Grid

The Threat to Melt the Electric Grid - WSJ:
The Pentagon is moving the headquarters for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad) back into Cheyenne Mountain near Colorado Springs, Colo., a decade after having largely vacated the site.
Why the return? Because the enormous bunker in the hollowed-out mountain, built to survive a Cold War-era nuclear conflict, can also resist an electromagnetic-pulse attack, or EMP. America’s military planners recognize the growing threat from an EMP attack by bad actors around the world, in particular North Korea and Iran.
An EMP strike, most likely from the detonation of a nuclear weapon in space, would destroy unprotected military and civilian electronics nationwide, blacking out the electric grid and other critical infrastructure for months or years. The staggering human cost of such a catastrophic attack is not difficult to imagine.
...At an April 7 Pentagon news conference, Norad Commander Adm. William Gortney noted that Norad is going back underground “because of the very nature of the way that Cheyenne Mountain’s built. It’s EMP-hardened.” He explained that North Korea now has mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles, the KN-08, armed with nuclear warheads, that can strike the U.S. While the KN-08 is inaccurate, it could be used to launch a high-altitude nuclear EMP attack.
...That is true as far as it goes—but only if an attack on the U.S. comes from the northern skies. Former senior Reagan administration officials warn that the U.S. is unprepared to cope with nuclear EMP strikes from North Korea and Iran if their missiles’ trajectory takes a southern route.
... Iran should be regarded as already having nuclear missiles capable of making an EMP attack against the U.S. Iran and North Korea have successfully orbited satellites on south-polar trajectories that appear to practice evading U.S. missile defenses, and at optimum altitudes to make a surprise EMP attack.
The U.S. has no ballistic-missile early-warning radars or ground-based interceptors facing south and would be blind to a nuclear warhead orbited as a satellite from a southern trajectory.
...The Pentagon was wise to move Norad communications back into Cheyenne Mountain and to take measures elsewhere to survive an EMP attack. But how are the American people to survive? In the event of a yearlong nationwide blackout, tens of millions of Americans would perish from starvation and societal chaos, according to members of the Congressional EMP Commission, which published its last unclassified report in 2008.
...When ancient Rome could no longer protect its empire from barbarians, cities tried to protect themselves by building walls. Now Washington, unable or unwilling to protect its people, is making it necessary for states to build their own defenses against the electromagnetic-pulse barbarians of the 21st century.

Dear Planned Parenthood CEO, Let Me Teach You About Compassion And Respect | TheBlaze.com

Dear Planned Parenthood CEO, Let Me Teach You About Compassion And Respect | TheBlaze.com: "Dear Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards,

Hello, my name is Matt Walsh, and I am a longtime financial contributor to your organization. Despite my frequent charitable giving, I have never received so much as a thank you card. I find this rather rude, and have been planning to write to you about this matter for some time.

But I now have a more urgent situation to address, as I just read with great interest your recent Twitter tantrum over the 20-week abortion ban passed by the House. In a series of tweets, you called it “dangerous,” “misguided,” and “backwards” to prevent doctors from executing 5-month-old babies who can feel pain and who are only three weeks (in some cases even less than that) from being viable outside the womb.

Dangerous, you said, to not kill babies."

New York City councilman seeks to dim skyline at night to save energy

New York City councilman seeks to dim skyline at night to save energy | Fox News:
"NEW YORK –  Bright lights, big city?
Not so much, if a New York City council member gets his way.
He's introduced a bill requiring most office high-rises to turn off the lights at night as a way to cut energy costs and help migratory birds.
And it might even give New Yorkers a chance to see some stars other than the celebrities walking down the street.
"We need to be doing everything we can to conserve energy," said Councilman Donovan Richards Jr. "This is a commonsense measure. It's not going to cost anybody a lot of money."
Seventy-one percent of New Yorkers like the idea, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday of 969 registered city voters.
But the bill, one of the first in the city focusing on what supporters call "light pollution," is causing concern among some residents who worry that dimming the lights could make the city less safe and dampen its signature sparkle."

Wind energy myths spun by lobbyists and salesmen

Wind energy myths spun by lobbyists and salesmen - Watchdog.org:
"A recent letter in my local paper by American Wind Energy Association representative Tom Vinson is typical of wind industry sales propaganda.
It deserves correction.
This is the reality: Industrial wind energy is a NET LOSER – economically, environmentally, technically and civilly.
Let’s examine how.
Economically.
New York State has some of the highest electricity rates in the United States – a whopping 53 percent above the national average.
This is due in large part to throwing hundreds of billions of our taxpayer and ratepayer dollars into the wind.
High electricity costs drive people and businesses out of the state, and ultimately hurt poor families the most.
A New York resident using 6,500 kWh of electricity annually will pay about $400 per year more for their electricity than if our electricity prices were at the national average.
That’s over $3.2 billion dollars annually that will not be spent in the rest of the state economy.
Why destroy entire towns, when just one single 450 MW gas-fired combined-cycle generating unit located near New York City – where the power is needed – operating at only 60 percent of its capacity, would provide more electricity than all of the states wind factories comb

PC is killing us!!----ASU students’ demand to rename ‘walk-only zones’ humorously mocked

ASU students’ demand to rename ‘walk-only zones’ humorously mocked:
"It’s one of those headlines that make you scratch your head and go – “Am I living in the Twilight Zone?”
Some Arizona State University students have demanded that the school rename its “walk-only zones” because the moniker – they claim with indignant determination – is offensive to disabled people.
Before I get in to some of the hilarious responses to that demand, let’s set the stage.
WOZ.1“Walk-only zones” were created in 2013 in some of the most heavily congested thoroughfares on campus, host to some 75,000 people.
Things banned from these zones from 8 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays include:  bikes, skateboards, Segways, golf carts, maintenance vehicles and the like.
Students must dismount wheeled vehicles within the boundaries, which offer fancy bike valet areas and bike skateboard parking racks.
The zones aim to reduce injuries, as students on bikes and skateboards were apparently crashing into people often as they hurried to class.
The zones have helped reduced accidents significantly, according to the State Press campus newspaper.
Basically the “walk-only zones” have nothing do with with making disabled people feel bad about themselves and everything to do with making sure students aren’t barreling through crowded pathways."

Why Charles Krauthammer Says America’s Gulf Allies ‘Should Be Terrified’ by Obama’s Camp David Announcement | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer strongly criticized President Barack Obama’s statements mean to calm anxious Persian Gulf allies at Camp David on Thursday, calling them a “sellout announcement.” In fact, he said, the gulf nations “should be terrified,” not relieved by what Obama said.

“This was absolutely pathetic. If this was meant to reassure the Gulf states, I’m sure their hair is still standing on end,” Krauthammer said on “Special Report” Thursday."

Holi crapoli!!!!----Feds Say That Banned Researcher Commandeered a Plane

Feds Say That Banned Researcher Commandeered a Plane | WIRED
A SECURITY RESEARCHER kicked off a United Airlines flight last month after tweeting about security vulnerabilities in its system had previously taken control of an airplane and caused it to briefly fly sideways, according to an application for a search warrant filed by an FBI agent.
Chris Roberts, a security researcher with One World Labs, told the FBI agent during an interview in February that he had hacked the in-flight entertainment system, or IFE, on an airplane and overwrote code on the plane’s Thrust Management Computer while aboard the flight
He was able to issue a climb command and make the plane briefly change course, the document states.
“He stated that he thereby caused one of the airplane engines to climb resulting in a lateral or sideways movement of the plane during one of these flights,” FBI Special Agent Mark Hurley wrote in his warrant application (.pdf).
“He also stated that he used Vortex software after comprising/exploiting or ‘hacking’ the airplane’s networks.
He used the software to monitor traffic from the cockpit system...”

"BEIRUT (TheBlaze/AP) — In a rare ground attack deep into Syria, U.S. Army commandos killed a man described as the Islamic State’s head of oil operations, captured his wife and rescued a woman whom American officials said was enslaved.

A team of Delta Force commandos slipped across the border from Iraq under cover of darkness Saturday aboard Black Hawk helicopters and V-22 Osprey aircraft, according to a U.S. defense official knowledgeable about details of the raid. The official was not authorized to discuss the operation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity."

Girl Scouts Welcome Cross-Dressing Boys into their Ranks

Girl Scouts Welcome Cross-Dressing Boys into their Ranks
The Girl Scouts of America (GSA) is the latest organization to cave to pressure from the LGBTIQA lobby, adapting its policies to extend membership to boys who identify as girls.
Penny Nance from Concerned Women for America called the decision “just one more slap in the face to Christian parents.”
On the GSA website, the association states: “If the child is recognized by the family and school/community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, then Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe.”
Girls paricipating in the scouts will now be obliged to recognize transgenderism as a normal lifestyle, critics say.
“...Boys in skirts, boys in make-up and boys in tents will become a part of the program
This change will put young innocent girls at risk,” the group said.
This isn’t the first time that the issue of transgender boys wanting to join the Girl Scouts has come up, though such cases are fairly uncommon.
In early 2012, seven-year old Bobby Montoya, who was living as a girl, was allowed to join his local Girl Scout troop in Colorado..."

Republicans Kill Plan to Consider Illegal Immigrants as U.S. Military Recruits | TheBlaze.com:

"House Republicans on Thursday slammed the door shut on a proposal to consider whether illegal immigrants who have been spared from deportation should be considered as candidates for the U.S. military.

Members of the House were debating dozens of amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act, a bill authorizing defense activities for the next fiscal year. Inside that huge bill is “sense of the Congress” language that calls for an evaluation of whether “undocumented immigrants” now living in the United States could join the U.S. military."

Thanks, taxpayers! Matthew McConaughey's $165k Houston commencement address

Thanks, taxpayers! Matthew McConaughey's $165k Houston commencement address - Watchdog.org:
When Matthew McConaughey takes the stage Friday to address this year’s University of Houston grads in their gleaming new sports stadium, you can bet he’ll give them great advice. You can hope he’ll give them a discount on his speaker’s fee:
He’s wealthy and wildly successful. He grew up in Texas. And his father was on the school’s football team.
The school says no taxpayer or tuition funds are being used to secure the services of the actor who took home an Oscar for “Dallas Buyers Club.” Yet the actor billed the school $135,000 – on top of $9,500 for a private jet.
At first, a university spokesperson told Watchdog.org that the cash to pay McConaughey came from the school’s continuing education program. She later said continuing education is “is simply a ledger line item. Money is not being pulled from resources designated for educational purposes....”

Bush's fault!----40 Volcanoes Are Erupting Right Now, And 34 Of Them Are Along The Ring Of Fire

40 Volcanoes Are Erupting Right Now, And 34 Of Them Are Along The Ring Of Fire
You may not have noticed, but our planet is becoming increasingly unstable.
According toVolcano Discovery, 40 volcanoes around the globe are erupting right now, and only 6 of them are not along the Ring of Fire.
If that sounds like a very high number to you, that is because it is a very high number.
As I have written about previously, there were a total of 3,542 volcanic eruptions during the entire 20th century.
When you divide that number by 100, that gives you an average of about 35 volcanic eruptions per year.
So the number of volcanoes that are erupting right now is well above the 20th century’s average for an entire calendar year.
And of course we are witnessing a tremendous amount of earthquake activity as well.
Nepal was just hit by the worst earthquake that it had seen in 80 years, and scientists are telling us that the Himalayas actually droppedby an astounding 3 feet as a result of that one earthquake.
How much more does our planet have to shake before people start paying attention?
Of course the things that we have been seeing lately are part of a much larger long-term trend.  Seismic activity appears to have been getting stronger over the past few decades, and now things really seem to be accelerating.
The following is how one news source recently summarized what we have been witnessing…
If it seems like earthquakes and erupting volcanoes are happening more frequently, that’s because they are. Looking at global magnitude six (M6) or greater from 1980 to 1989 there was an average of 108.5 earthquakes per year, from 2000 to 2009 the planet averaged 160.9 earthquakes per year: that is a 38.9% increase of M6+ earthquakes in recent years. Unrest also seems to be growing among the world’s super-volcanoes. Iceland (which is home to some of the most dangerous volcanoes on the planet), Santorini in Greece, Uturuncu in Bolivia, the Yellowstone and Long Valley calderas in the U.S., Laguna del Maule in Chile, Italy’s Campi Flegrei – almost all of the world’s active super-volcanic systems are now exhibiting some signs of inflation, an early indication that pressure is building in these volcanic systems.
But of course most Americans are never going to care about any of this until it starts affecting them personally."

BLM plan to close over 1,000 public routes riles western Colorado

BLM plan to close over 1,000 public routes riles western Colorado - Watchdog.org
MESA, Colo.—A plan that will close nearly 2,000 miles of public roads that have previously been open for use by the people of Mesa County is creating a public backlash against the Grand Junction field office of the federal Bureau of Land Management.
...But the most recent RMP in Mesa County indicates the BLM’s intent to limit access to public roads which have traditionally been open to motorized, horse, and foot traffic.
Accessible routes will decrease from the current 3,469 miles to just 1,777.
The BLM has not offered a clear justification for its planned road closures, which has left many in Mesa County frustrated and baffled.
...The BLM, not unlike other federal agencies, is not required to collaborate with local governments when formulating RMP for a given area.
The planned closure of roads, most of which were established decades ago, will effectively close off tens of thousands of acres of public lands to human access...

Fox News Poll: Voters believe White House incompetent, US still in recession and ISIS has moved next door | Fox News

Fox News Poll: Voters believe White House incompetent, US still in recession and ISIS has moved next door | Fox News:

"Majorities of voters feel the country is still in recession, think terrorists are living in their hometown and rate the Obama White House handling of the government as incompetent.

Those are some of the findings from the latest Fox News poll released Thursday.

Six in 10 voters think it is likely terrorists are living in their hometown (60 percent). That’s up from 48 percent who felt that way in 2007, the last time the question was asked, and back to about what it was nine months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In June 2002, 58 percent thought terrorists were in their community."

Watch the painstaking work to pick asparagus in Oceana County | MLive.com:
"HART, MI -- Asparagus harvesting is in full swing in Oceana County, where about 2/3 of the Michigan crop is produced each year.

Over the course of the next seven weeks, workers will spend countless hours riding pickers gathering as many asparagus stalks as possible.
The work is physically taxing, and that is one factor in a labor shortage, growers say.
Tim Tubbs of Hart said it is challenging to find quality workers who are willing to work long hours in the heat.

A religion of pieces----Generous Islamic state: Wedding certificate states jihadi brides can carry out bombings without husband’s permission

Generous Islamic state: Wedding certificate states jihadi brides can carry out bombings without husband’s permission | The Muslim Issue:
"The emergence of an ISIS wedding certificate – which allows jihadi brides to carry out suicide mission without the husband’s permission – suggests the terror group will use more women to carry out their twisted attacks, a counter-terrorism expert has told MailOnline.
Bomber: Terror groups have abstained from using female bombers in the past and one of the very rare examples is Sajida al-Rishawi failed to explode a bomb strapped to her chest during an Al Qaeda plot to destroy a hotel in the Jordanian capital AmmanWritten in Arabic and signed by both husband and wife, the chilling document states the final decision over her life – and death – rests with Islamic State’s leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.
Under ‘conditions of wife’ it says: ‘If the Prince of believers [Baghdadi] consents to her carrying out a suicide mission, then her husband should not prohibit her.’
This is Islamic State’s desperate attempt to force women to the battle-front to replace the countless male soldiers being slain in bloody battles across Iraq and Syria, experts have told MailOnline.
The document emerges amid the shocking reports that three teenage girls have fled ISIS from their stronghold in Mosul, Iraq, and are currently being hunted down the by the militants."
