NLRB Upholds Racist Speech as Protected Activity Under Labor Relations Act

NLRB Upholds Racist Speech as Protected Activity Under Labor Relations Act | The National Law Review:
"In a ruling which was a bit of a surprise to some in the employer community, a Judge of the National Labor Relations Board recently concluded that racist speech made during picketing of an employer qualified as protected activity under Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act (the “Act”).
In Cooper Tire & Rubber Company v. United Steel, union workers were locked out by Cooper Tire after the union members failed to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement.
Thereafter, those members began to picket Cooper Tire in protest of the lockout.
During the lockout, Cooper Tire brought in replacement workers to the plant – many of whom were African-American.
One day, after a van full of replacement workers passed the picket line in front of the plant, one of the union members, Anthony Runion, yelled towards the van, “Hey, did you bring enough KFC for everyone?”
After Mr. Runion’s statement, an unidentified individual yelled “Go back to Africa, you bunch of f***ing losers.”
Shortly following that statement, Mr. Runion stated “Hey, anybody smell that? I smell fried chicken and watermelon,” which resulted in laughter by the picketers.
All of these remarks were recorded on video.
After the union and Cooper Tire agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement, Mr. Runion was terminated for violating Cooper Tire’s harassment policy.
In response to Mr. Runion’s termination, the union filed a grievance alleging that Cooper Tire violated their CBA.
...The Judge determined in this case that, although the statements made by Mr. Runion were “racist, offensive, and reprehensible,” they did not amount to a threat since they were not violent in nature nor did they contain explicit or implicit threats to workers or their property...

FLASHBACK: Hillary Clinton Opposed Gay Marriage Forever... Until, Like, Yesterday:

"With the gay marriage ruling, Hillary Clinton wasted no time in wrapping herself in rainbow colored everything, while of course attacking the GOP for disagreeing with the decision. Also, still no word on whether she’s a lesbian. We’re digging so you don’t have to.

Hey, remember when Hillary Clinton opposed gay marriage? You know, her whole life all the way up until she decided to run for president?"

Police boss McCarthy on child's death: 'This has got to stop'

Police boss McCarthy on child's death: 'This has got to stop' - Chicago Tribune:
"Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told reporters Sunday that a 7-year-old boy fatally shot on the West Side during the July Fourth holiday was "the unintended victim of a bullet meant for his father."
Antonio Brown, who police say is a ranking member of the Four Corner Hustlers street gang, has been arrested 45 times on charges ranging from gun possession to burglary, and is not cooperating with detectives in their investigation into the slaying of his son, Amari Brown, police said.
McCarthy said that the elder Brown's last arrest was in April for gun possession after leading police on a vehicle pursuit.
Brown was later released on bail in that case, Cook County court records show.
Amari Brown was among nine people fatally shot throughout the city since Thursday afternoon. Forty-six others were wounded by gunfire."

“You know what? It takes a certain kind of racist to decide that black people can’t have their own opinion,” she said.

“I’m allowed to have conservative opinions,” she continued. “I’m allowed to believe that gay marriage is wrong. I’m allowed to believe that abortion is not OK.”

She added that the “problem with the left” is that “they think that they own African Americans. They think that they own our thoughts and that is not true.”

“These liberals need to check their privilege...”

HHS Offers Obamacare Talking Points for Your July 4th BBQ

HHS Offers Obamacare Talking Points for Your July 4th BBQ - Breitbart
“Tips for Talking to Your Family about the Affordable Care Act this Fourth of July.”
This Fourth of July, families across the nation will gather around hot dogs (or their favorite vegetarian alternative) and potato salad to spend some quality time together, watch fireworks and reflect on the holiday’s meaning.
So far, so good. But if you guessed that there’s a ‘but’ coming, you’re correct.
But as much as we love our families – and we do, seriously –we don’t always agree when it comes to current events, like last week’s Supreme Court decision upholding tax credits that help make insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) more affordable for millions of people.
The Cadillac tax. Yes, there was lots of misinformation out there. As for the ads criticizing Obamacare, that figure is accurate but omits the fact that $700 billion was spent by state and federal governments to promote the law.
Not surprisingly, many Americans still don’t know how changes the law made to insurance and the health care system can help improve their lives. You should be prepared when Aunt Janine says something like, “Obamacare hasn’t helped anyone!” So here are a few points to remember during this long holiday weekend:
...
Situation: Uncle Ted claims Obamacare is a train wreck and has cost jobs.
You say: Uncle Ted, you’ve gotten ahold of some old talking points. With greater access to affordable, quality health insurance, the Affordable Care Act is helping individuals and strengthening our economy!
Think about the phrase “you say” for a moment. The Obama administration is not only telling you to upbraid your uncle Ted, they assume you’re too dumb to do it on your own. They need to give you the words to say. This is a script for insecure zealots who need their lines spoon-fed to them...

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Announces City Jobs, Internships Will Go to Illegal Aliens

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Announces City Jobs, Internships Will Go to Illegal Aliens - Breitbart
In a recent proclamation, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced that he intends to give city jobs and internships to so-called “DREAMers,” youngsters in the country illegally.
In the announcement, Emanuel proudly stated that “for the first time” Chicago is “opening up nearly 23,000 City-funded internship, volunteer, and job opportunities for undocumented students, or ‘DREAMers.'”
“DREAMers and DACA recipients are assets that we need to nurture and develop like precious natural resources for the benefit of the entire community,” Congressman Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-IL) says in the announcement.
“They are an integral part of Chicago’s workforce of tomorrow. Once again, the City of Chicago and Mayor Rahm Emanuel are leading the way on the inclusion of our immigrant communities.”

Hold on folks, these guys are going for ALL the money!-----To rename or not? Institutions reconsider honors for racists

My Way News - To rename or not? Institutions reconsider honors for racists:
"HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The massacre at a predominantly black South Carolina church has institutions from Alaska to Connecticut evaluating whether they should continue enshrining the names of historical figures linked to slavery and the Confederacy.
...A petition is calling for Yale University in Connecticut to change the name of its residential Calhoun College, which honors 1804 alumnus John C. Calhoun, a prominent advocate of the slave plantation system who became a vice president and U.S. senator from South Carolina.
The petition says the name, in place since the 1930s, represents "an indifference to centuries of pain and suffering among the black population."
...Other campaigns around the country include efforts to change the names of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis and New York City's General Lee Avenue in Brooklyn, named after Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.
In Helena, Montana, officials will meet Wednesday to discuss whether anything should be done with a downtown memorial to fallen Confederate soldiers.
The foundation was built in 1916 by the Daughters of the Confederacy.
...Temple University professor Christopher Rabb, a black 1992 Yale graduate who lived in Calhoun College when it still had a stained glass window depicting Calhoun standing over an enslaved black man, said he would rather see a deeper reckoning with issues of race and the role of white supremacists in building American institutions, such as Yale and other schools.
"Removing a name, removing a symbol is easy and we can say, 'problem solved,'" Rabb said.
"But we're dealing with a symbol and we're not dealing with the root cause.
And the root cause is systemic racism...."

SHOCK: Arizona Paper Decries Border Fence as Too High for Mexicans to Safely Jump

SHOCK: Arizona Paper Decries Border Fence as Too High for Mexicans to Safely Jump
A mainstream Arizona newspaper is decrying the small section of the Arizona-Mexico border that has a 14-foot-high primary fence because it is too high for illegal immigrants to safely cross.
The article, “Border Fence Jumpers Breaking Bones,” includes the claim that sections of the border with a 14-foot-high fence are “as tall as a two or three-story house” and tells the stories of several women who broke bones and were treated extensively to healthcare and surgeries at the expense of U.S. taxpayers.
The writer never mentions any lives directly lost as a result of there not being a border fence in most sections, such as when Mexican nationals crossed into the U.S. and murdered father and husband Robert Rosas, a U.S. Border Patrol agent.
The article in question was written by Perla Trevizo for the Arizona Daily Star.

Blog: The fake and real reasons Obamacare premiums are increasing 40% or more

Blog: The fake and real reasons Obamacare premiums are increasing 40% or more
"Health insurance companies are requesting rate increases of 40% or more.
I'm old enough to remember when businesses didn't have to request the government's permission to increase prices.
They just raised prices as they wished, without getting the approval of a political commissar or a five-year planning board!
However, in those days, we had more of a free market, so if a company raised prices too high, its sales went down as customers went to lower-priced competitors.
There actually was a natural check on higher prices that didn't involve government intervention.
The free market setting prices – that sounds so weird and old-fashioned now, doesn't it?
But anyway, insurers are requesting increases of up to 40% or more..."
