Woman Punched, Robbed Of $1.70 During Broad Daylight In Central Park

Woman Punched, Robbed Of $1.70 During Broad Daylight In Central Park « CBS New York:
"NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A woman was attacked and robbed during a walk in Central Park — over a dollar and some change.
On Friday, police were searching for the suspect and warned all parkgoers to be on high alert.
CBS2’s Ilana Gold talked to the victim about her frightening experience.
The secluded path by 102nd Street and West Drive was the scene of a crime at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Police said the suspect, seen in a white T-shirt and jeans, targeted a woman walking alone from the Great Hill area.
She spoke to Gold by phone on Friday about the scary incident.
“I was afraid he would have a knife or something like that,” she said.
The 26-year-old woman said the man, believed to be in his late 30s, was walking in the opposite direction when he jumped right in front of her and demanded she hand over her purse.
But when she held onto it he punched her in the face repeatedly and she fell on the ground.
“My head is swollen. I hurt my knee. I hurt my wrist. I hurt another ankle,” she said.
The robber grabbed her belongings from the trail and took off.
The victim said he only got away with $1.70.
“I also had my computer and other things in it, but he threw it right back to me and took the wallet,” the woman said."

Canadian Climate Change Arctic Expedition Derailed Due to Heavy Ice

Canadian Climate Change Arctic Expedition Derailed Due to Heavy Ice:
So sad.
A Canadian arctic research expedition to study "climate change" (always meaning global warming) has been derailed.
Why?
Heavy ice.
However, readers of the CBC News account of the story are left in the dark as to the exact nature of the expedition that is not to be this year.
..."Obviously it has a large impact on us," says Martin Fortier, executive director of ArcticNet, which coordinates research on the vessel.
"It's a frustrating situation."
During the summer, the Amundsen operates as a floating research centre with experiments running 24 hours a day.
This year it was scheduled to reach North Baffin Bay.
But the icebreaker has been rerouted to escort commercial ships en route to resupply communities in Northern Quebec on the eastern side of Hudson Bay.
Johnny Leclair, assistant commissioner for the Coast Guard, said Tuesday conditions in the area are the worst he's seen in 20 years..."

Seniors Gambling for Toilet Paper? Thank Heavens the Government Is Here to Stop It!

Seniors Gambling for Toilet Paper? Thank Heavens the Government Is Here to Stop It! - Hit & Run : Reason.com:
"Consider this just another version of the regular “Officials Force Kids to Shut Down Lemonade Stand” story coming from other end of the life experiences spectrum.
Periodically government officials step in to screw with the older folks in small communities for the crime of having fun in unapproved fashions.
Typically this means low-stakes casual gambling.
How low?
This low:
Two or three days a week, 88-year-old Berylda Wilson and her friends get together to play euchre at the Delaware County Senior Citizens Center.
But because they pay a couple of bucks to play and take home prizes like packs of cookies or toilet paper, they're breaking Indiana law — and state officials have ordered an end to the illegal gambling.
The Indiana Gaming Commission last week contacted officials of the senior center — where the most common regular activities, besides euchre, include bridge and line dancing — and told them the pay-for-play must stop..."

After Crashing Ted Cruz Event, Protest Group’s Leader Gets Herself Locked in Iran Debate With the Texas Republican | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"When a group of Code Pink activists crashed a Ted Cruz event outside of the White House on Thursday, the Republican presidential candidate actually tried to engage in a thoughtful debate with them on Iran and the recently agreed to nuclear deal. After the protesters began shouting and holding up signs directly in front of him, Cruz quickly addressed the group.

“It is very interesting to see those who profess to believe in free speech are the ones afraid of speech,” Cruz said.

Rather than allowing the shoutfest to continue, the Republican senator actually invited one of the protesters to “come forward” and have a discussion on the issue. Eventually, Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin approached Cruz at the podium."

Day of Reckoning for American Pensions Is Fast Approaching

Day of Reckoning for American Pensions Is Fast Approaching | The Daily Sheeple:
"For decades, local and state governments in the United States have made promises to their employees that they cannot keep.
They guaranteed a certain level of income to retirees at a time when America was its most prosperous, and when most people didn’t live as long as they do now.
Those lucrative pensions they promised are starting to catch up to them in a big way.
Earlier this week, Moody’s cut Chicago’s credit rating to “junk,” largely due to their $20 billion pension shortfall, and they put the City of Houston on notice.
Many of the major pension funds use the stock market to bolster their savings, but despite record profits on Wall Street, it doesn’t seem like any of them reached their revenue goals.
California’s Public Employees Retirement System only reached a third of the annual revenue they projected, and the state’s teacher fund failed to reach their goal.
Overall, Moody’s found that the 25 largest public pension funds in the US have a $2 trillion budget shortfall.
That means that many state and local governments may face credit rating cuts in the near future, which will leave them owing even more money.
Chicago for example, is now paying an exorbitant 8% yield on their bonds, which amounts to almost twice as much as a homeowner would pay for a 30 year mortgage.
If other cities have to deal with credit rating downgrades (which they soon will), paying off their liabilities will quickly turn into a Sisyphean task.
Widespread municipal bankruptcies will soon become a common feature in America’s financial landscape."

The Firesale Begins: Greece Is Selling off Its Assets

The Firesale Begins: Greece Is Selling off Its Assets | The Daily Sheeple:
"It’s never been more obvious that Greece has been sold out to the banks.
Like many countries before, their nation has been scheduled to endure poverty and chaos, followed by a firesale of their assets.
The latest evidence of their nation’s capture by the banks, is the selling of their numerous islands to wealthy buyers.
American business magnate, one of the world’s most successful investors, Warren Buffett has reportedly bought the Greek island of Agios Thomas for 15 mln euro, according to the website of the Greek newspaper Proto Thema and became yet another celebrity with his own piece of Greece.
The newspaper says the deal was made in partnership with Italian real estate magnate, millionaire Alessandro Proto.
The two men closed the deal for a reported 15 million euros last Thursday.
The businessmen released a joint statement saying that they intended to invest in the island of Agios Thomas, also referred to as St. Thomas, located on the northwestern side of the island of Egina in the Saronic Gulf.
They plan to “build property in an effort to help the wider region develop.”
The island, 300 acres in size, was earlier available for sale over the internet at 15 mln euro.
If confirmed, this is yet another purchase of a Greek island by a foreign celebrity.
Earlier this week Hollywood star Johnny Depp purchased an uninhabited Greek island of Stroggilo for 4.2 mln euro."

VIDEO: Gay Hillary supporters stunned during ‘Which Bigot Said It’ quiz

VIDEO: Gay Hillary supporters stunned during ‘Which Bigot Said It’ quiz | The American Mirror
San Diego talk radio host Mike Slater hit the streets over the weekend to quiz attendees of the gay pride parade and exposed their ignorance and knee-jerk reaction to conservatives.
Slater played “Which Bigot Said It” with a number people.
His quiz featured a series of quotes defending traditional marriage as participants were to match the statement with photos of Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Mike Huckabee or Rick Santorum.
The quotes Slater used include:
  • “Marriage has got historic, religious and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time.”
  • “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage.”
  • “I think marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman.”
  • “For me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.”
The dozen or so people interviewed were stunned to learn either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton had uttered those declarations in the past.
“I much more prefer Bernie Sanders,” a male-looking person wearing a rainbow-colored tutu said.
“I think if the devil had any humanly form, it would be in the shape of Rick Santorum.”
Slater also asked attendees what percentage of the male population they believed was gay.
He received some of the following answers:
  • 40%
  • 45%
  • 47%
  • 35%
  • 50%
  • 36%
  • 70% (!!)
Citing CDC statistics, Slater stunned his interviewees by telling them in fact, only 1.8% of the male population is gay.
A man wearing a purple Teletubbies costume declared, “Barack Obama is a great president” and that he supports Hillary because “she supports gays.”
He, too, was floored to learn just a few short years ago, the people he supports didn’t support him.

Big headline.... little facts------El Niño intensifying, could rival strongest in recorded history

El Niño intensifying, could rival strongest in recorded history - The Washington Post:
"...“[El Niño] is growing and the prediction models say it’s going to get stronger,” Barnston said. “And that’s our prediction, that it will become a strong event, most likely.
A few models, notably the European model and the National Weather Service CFS model, point to the possibility of a near-record event in which a very strong or “super” El Niño develops.
The only two super (or very strong) El Ninos in the historic record occurred in 1982-83 and 1997-98.
Perhaps hinting at an El Niño rivaling history, models have been trending stronger with their forecast month after month after month — as they absorb more data reflecting the true state of the current event and how it’s evolving:
While some models show El Niño possibly maxing out in record territory, NOAA climate analyst Michelle L’Heureux expressed some skepticism about such projections in an interview with Mashable’s Andrew Freedman.
“L’Heureux noted that none of the major forecasting centers responsible for monitoring El Nino are predicting a record event at this time,”Freedman reported.
NOAA says the “forecaster consensus” is for a strong event but doesn’t specify how strong.
Its forecast calls for El Niño to persist through the winter (90 percent chance) and early spring (80 percent chance)."

"During the hearing, Cruz also stated that of the 88,000 convictions against illegal immigrants released in 2013, 193 had homicide convictions, 426 had sexual assault convictions and over 16,000 had drunk or drugged driving convictions.

He delivered a passionate statement about the victims who have been murdered by illegal immigrants in the U.S., including Kate Steinle.

“There are too many politicians in Washington that talk a good game but don’t act. If you want to honor Josh [Wilkerson], if you want to honor Kate Steinle, start enforcing the law and stop releasing murderers, and rapists, and drunk drivers,”

CBS’S CHARLIE ROSE PRETENDS TO BE SHOCKED WHEN LINDSEY GRAHAM COMPARES OBAMA TO NEVILLE CHAMBERLAI…

CBS’S CHARLIE ROSE PRETENDS TO BE SHOCKED WHEN LINDSEY GRAHAM COMPARES OBAMA TO NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN OVER IRAN DEAL:
I’m not sure which is more “shocking:” that Rose needs a fainting couch after hearing Graham’s comparison
Or, that on the eve of the 2008 election, Rose was pretending “I don’t know what Barack Obama’s worldview is.”
Or that such a comparison is actually insulting to Chamberlain.
Yes, “The British Prime Minister got the biggest issue of the day wrong.
But no one ever doubted that he loved his country,” as Mark Steyn wrote earlier this year:

So please don’t insult Neville Chamberlain by comparing him to Obama. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, because conspiracies are generally a comforting illusion: the real problem with Obama is that the citizens of the global superpower twice elected him to office. Yet one way to look at the current “leader of the free world” is this: If he were working for the other side, what exactly would he be doing differently?
Over to you, Charlie.

Russian Bombers Flew Within 40 Miles of N. California Coast

Russian Bombers Flew Within 40 Miles of N. California Coast | Washington Free Beacon:
"Two Russian nuclear bombers flew within 40 miles of the California coast and one of the pilots relayed a veiled threat during the Fourth of July aerial incident, defense officials said.
“Good morning American pilots, we are here to greet you on your Fourth of July Independence Day,” a Russian Tu-95 Bear bomber crew member stated over the emergency aircraft channel.
Meanwhile, Russia’s across-the-board buildup of nuclear forces and revised doctrine are increasing the danger of a nuclear war, according to a think tank report on nuclear threats.
Defense officials and the Colorado-based U.S. Northern Command said this week that two U.S. F-15 jets intercepted the Russian bombers on July 4 as they flew as close as 39 miles from the coast of Mendocino County, north of San Francisco.
During the intercept, a crew member on one of the bombers issued a warning in a radio message, according to defense officials familiar with the incident this week."

Drag queens banned from Pride event 'because they may offend transgender people'

Drag queens banned from Pride event 'because they may offend transgender people' - News - London Evening Standard:
"Drag queens have been banned from performing at a Pride event in case they offend transgender people.
Organisers of Free Pride Glasgow, which bills itself as an 'anti-commercialist' alternative to the Scottish city's main Pride event, have announced the controversial ban.
Despite the fact that drag queens have been closely associated with Pride celebrations for most of their history, they will not be allowed to appear at the event next month in case they cause offence.
A statement from the organisers said: “After much discussion, the trans and non binary caucus decided not to have drag acts perform at the event.
“This does not mean that people of any gender can’t wear what they want to the event, we simply won’t be having any self-described drag acts perform at our Free Pride Event on August 22. ""
