Hillary Clinton's Scandals Are the Reason She'll Be an Effective President

Vox Editor: Hillary Clinton's Scandals Are the Reason She'll Be an Effective President: "Occasionally a member of the chattering classes writes something that is not just wrong, that is not just irritating, but that is genuinely dangerous.
Matthew Yglesias’s latest essay at Vox is just such a piece.
Writes Yglesias:
From her adventures in cattle trading to chairing a policymaking committee in her husband’s White House to running for Senate in a state she’d never lived in to her effort to use superdelegates to overturn 2008 primary results to her email servers, [Hillary] Clinton is clearly more comfortable than the average person with violating norms and operating in legal gray areas.
This is, for him, a point in her favor:
Committed Democrats and liberal-leaning interest groups are facing a reality in which any policy gains they achieve are going to come through the profligate use of executive authority, and Clinton is almost uniquely suited to deliver the goods.
More than almost anyone else around, she knows where the levers of power lie, and she is comfortable pulling them, procedural niceties be damned.
Conclusion:
She truly is the perfect leader for America’s moment of permanent constitutional crisis: a person who cares more about results than process, who cares more about winning the battle than being well-liked, and a person who believes in asking what she can get away with rather than what would look best.
...Furthermore, if the overriding aim of a political interest is simply to find someone who can “deliver the goods,” means-be-damned, then one should expect those deliverers to become more and more autocratic.
Obama did the legwork of making “profligate executive action” politically tenable; why shouldn’t like-minded successors push harder?
Most modern liberals are training-wheel tyrants, if you scratch.
But sometimes you don’t even need to scratch."

Calls For More Gun Control After Oregon Shooting Have Backfired In A HUGE Way

Calls For More Gun Control After Oregon Shooting Have Backfired In A HUGE Way:

"Gun sales in America, already heading for a record year, have increased in the wake of President Obama’s Friday call to restrict gun ownership.

Obama’s most recent attack on firearms came in the wake of last week’s shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon in which a gunman killed nine victims."

Worth a look-----Lawmaker Calls For Study On Links Between Pharmaceuticals And Mass Killers

Lawmaker Calls For Study On Links Between Pharmaceuticals And Mass Killers | Zero Hedge: "Following recent media reports of high-profile mass shootings, a Republican assemblywoman from Nevada is calling for an investigation into whether psychiatric pharmaceuticals commonly taken by mass murderers can cause side effects that may contribute to their mental health decline.
According to KSNV Las Vegas, GOP Assemblywoman Michele Fiore says that, rather than blaming mass shootings on the guns used by the perpetrators, studies should be done on the drugs that many of them have a history of having taken to treat mental health disorders.
“We have to look into what is being prescribed and what is in these meds just like clinical studies. Why don’t we do studies on the medication all of these shooters were taking and take that medication off the market? Obviously, medications can alter your mind just as alcohol can alter the mind,” said Fiore.
...In August of this year, a CBS46 Atlanta Reality Check report by Ben Swann raised questions about the possibility of a connection between mass murderers and pharmaceutical drugs used to treat mental health disorders, noting that 26 high-profile perpetrators had been taking psychiatric medication..."

How to Create a Gun-Free America in 5 Easy Steps

How to Create a Gun-Free America in 5 Easy Steps - Reason.com
Want to create a gun-free America in 5 easy steps?
Here's all there is to it:
Step 1: Elect. For a gun-free America, the first thing you'll need is two-thirds of Congress. So elect a minimum of 67 Senators and 290 Representatives who are on your side.
Step 2: Propose. Then, have them vote to propose an amendment to the Constitution which repeals Second Amendment gun rights for all Americans.
Step 3: Ratify. Then convince the legislators of 38 states to ratify that change.
At this point, the Second Amendment is history, but you've done nothing to decrease gun violence. All you've done is remove the barrier for Congress to act.
Step 4: Legislate. You need to enact "common sense" reform.
You can try to do what Australia did and...ban all guns? That's not at all what they did, but whatever, fuck it. Go big or go home, right?
It will have to be passed by Congress and signed by the president.
Great! The law is passed and guns are now illegal.  The only thing left to do is...

Step 5: Enforce.
Guns won't just disappear because you passed a law. You need to confiscate some 350 million guns scattered among 330 Million Americans.
Sure, you can try a buy-back program like Australia, but like Australia that will still leave behind anywhere from 60 percent to 80 percent of privately owned firearms.
The rest you have to take.
You'll need the police, the FBI, the ATF or the National Guard—all known for their nuanced approach to potentially dangerous situations—to go door-to-door, through 3.8 million square milesof this country and take guns, by force, from thousands, if not, millions of well-armed individuals. Many of whom would rather start a civil war than acquiesce.
So inevitably gun violence, which is currently at a historic low, will skyrocket.
But that is how you get a gun-free America in five easy steps.

A Democrat Just Made A Huge Move In Congress To Try And Destroy Trey Gowdy:

"Florida Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson has Reps. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., and Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., in his crosshairs after the latter implied one of the primary reasons the Select Committee on Benghazi was established was to damage Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid.

Grayson, who is running for the U.S. Senate, filed a three-page ethics complaint Wednesday, alleging that both Gowdy and McCarthy violated federal law by using funds allocated to the Select Committee for political or campaign purposes."

School District Overspending for Last Nine Years Keeps Getting More Funding Per Pupil [Michigan Capitol Confidential]

School District Overspending for Last Nine Years Keeps Getting More Funding Per Pupil [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
"Clintondale Community Schools has been in continuous deficit-spending mode dating back to 2005-06.
The Macomb County district was not contrite in explaining nine consecutive years of being unable to balance its budget.
On a form required by Michigan Department of Education, the school district’s administration defiantly gives this reason for its failure: “Inadequate funding and declining enrollment.”
And in a recent Detroit News story, Ken Austin, the president of the district’s teachers union local said, “We would likely not be in the current position if it were not for the many huge cuts to school funding that districts have been forced to endure for many years.”
That’s their story, but the facts don’t support it.
The declining enrollment part is true enough, but last year the district got more money per student than nine years ago, not less.
...However, like many districts, skyrocketing pension costs have eaten up much of the increase. In 2007-08, Clintondale had 488 employees on its payroll.
The district’s required annual contribution to the state-run school employee retirement system was $2.8 million..."

Obama Willing to Toss America to Wolves

Obama Willing to Toss America to Wolves:

"President Obama, once again showing his contempt for the military and for Congress, warned this week that he will veto a national defense bill unless Congress removes funding for Guantanamo Bay, where the U.S. has been holding terrorists for years.

Congress can't gather its spine to defund Planned Parenthood, but our president is willing to defund the military for the sake of a pet project on his leftist to-do list."

Obama’s U.N. plan: Globalize cops against ‘violent extremists’:

"President Obama’s new “Strong Cities Network,” announced with little fanfare last week at the United Nations, appears to be another effort to strip authority from local police departments and to demonize conservative Christians, say advocates of civil and religious liberties.

The stated goal of the program is to connect local police departments with their peers around the world in an effort to combat “violent extremism,” according to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who announced the program to the U.N. on Sept. 30.

Lynch, with New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio by her side, told world leaders that the time has come for a more globalized and comprehensive effort to combat violent extremism. She said:"

ACLU sues Ferguson school district because black voters aren’t electing black candidates

ACLU sues Ferguson school district because black voters aren’t electing black candidates | BizPac Review:
"Voting rights lawyers with the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit last year challenging the Ferguson-Florissant school district’s use of an “at-large” voting system, alleging that not enough blacks were being voted into office.
On Wednesday, the school district filed new documents urging the judge to drop the lawsuit, arguing that the district was not engaged in any sort of scheme to keep minorities from holding office.
Although African Americans make up roughly 77 percent of the students in the district, only one of the seven members of the school board was black when the case was filed last year.
Since then, one additional black member has been elected.
The ACLU claims the at-large voting system – where all candidates are elected by the entire district rather than small geographical areas – is to blame for the low number of minority members, according to MSNBC."

Unbeknownst to Clinton, IT firm had emails stored on cloud; now in FBI’s hands | McClatchy DC

Unbeknownst to Clinton, IT firm had emails stored on cloud; now in FBI’s hands | McClatchy DC:

A Connecticut company, which backed up Hillary Clinton‘s emails at the request of a Colorado firm, apparently surprised her aides by storing the emails on a “cloud” storage system designed to optimize data recovery.
Hillary Clinton speaks at a Human Rights Campaign gathering in Washington on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015.
The firm, Datto Inc., said Wednesday that it turned over the contents of its storage to the FBI on Tuesday.
A Republican Senate committee chairman, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, also has asked the firm to provide the committee copies of any data from Clinton’s account still in its possession.
There were conflicting accounts as to whether the developments could lead to retrieval of any of Clinton’s more than 31,000 personal emails, which she said she deleted from her private server upon turning over her work-related emails to the State Department, at its request, in December 2014.

Ted Cruz Repeatedly Grills Sierra Club President With One Simple Question — Watch the Answer He Gets | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) repeatedly grilled Sierra Club President Aaron Mair Tuesday, asking whether his organization would issue a formal retraction if evidence contrary to his global warming testimony were provided to the environmental group.

Muir had testified during a Senate hearing that “our planet is cooking and heating up and warming.”

Cruz, who said that recent satellite data did not show a warming trend, asked Muir whether he would retreat his statement if the data were given to him."

The truth about gun deaths: numbers and actual solutions « Hot Air
When the President went on television after the Oregon college mass shooting he issued a challenge to the media. He asked them to show America the number of gun deaths as compared to the number of terrorism related deaths since the 9/11 attacks. The media dutifully complied and soon every network, newspaper and magazine was putting up startling graphics, such as this one tweeted by CNN.
GunDeaths1
These graphics and figures were almost uniformly followed by comments about the mass shooting and the “pressing need” for background checks and other gun control laws. Unfortunately, all of these numbers flashing around were dishonestly offered up with no context or details.
As it turns out, however, the real numbers are available from a variety of sources including the FBI and the CDC, among others, so let’s take a look at them.
It takes federal agencies a long time to compile and publish their statistics, so the last full set of data we have is from 2011 and the figures can shed a lot of light on exactly how mendacious gun control advocates are being with these studies.
First of all, look at the number of gun deaths on that chart from 2011. It’s 32,351. That’s a lot of gun deaths to be sure. So that’s the total number of murders by gun owners, right? The answer is not only Hell No, but it’s not even remotely close. It’s true that this figure is close to the total number of human lives ended in incidents involving a gun, but that’s all incidents. So how did those deaths happen?
Straight from the CDC where most of the media is drawing their numbers (while not as good of a source as the FBI or the Justice Department) we can find out that of those 32,352 gun deaths,21,175 of them were suicides. That leaves us with 11,177 deaths to account for.
But as it turns out, the FBI records that 8,583 deaths were murders of various sorts involving guns of all types.
The remaining roughly 2,500 were accounted for by accidents and unintentional injuries
These include hunting accidents, toddlers getting hold of unsecured weapons and shooting somebody or just plain idiots who proved Darwin right.
Before we move on, those FBI numbers deserve a closer look for a moment since we’re on the subject.
What sorts of guns are used in actual crimes?
I bring this up because each mass shooting elicits renewed calls for an “assault weapons” ban on guns like the AR-15 style rifle.
Are those popular in crimes?
Check out the figures from the FBI report.
GunDeaths2
Take a good look at those numbers. Of the actual 8,583 gun murders committed in 2011, 323 were committed with “rifles.”
And that’s all rifles, including bolt action, deer hunting rifles and all the rest. The number committed with so called “assault rifles” were a fraction of that. When you ask how dangerous those rifles are, compare that to nearly 1,700 who were stabbed as well as nearly 500 murdered with blunt objects and and more than 700 beaten to death by somebody with their bare hands
Enough said on that topic.
So we’re down to 8,583 intentional killings using guns.
That’s still one heck of a lot of bodies, and surely enough to justify new background checks and other restrictions on legal gun purchases, right? Again… not even close. The Justice Department has been studying the question of legal vs. illegal sources of guns used in crimes for decades, going back to this study issued in the early nineties. They admit that the numbers are simply too hard to track for us to pin down exact figures, but the trends are steady over the years. The vast majority of guns used in crimes were gotten through illegal means outside the legal purchase regimen followed by law abiding gun owners. Roughly one quarter of inmates convicted of gun crimes admitted to having stolen a gun in that study. For the ones that weren’t stolen directly, another 2004 studyshowed that 40% of convicts bought their guns on the black market and another 37% got them through the “gray market” in various illegal methods.
In fact, one study after another has shown that legally purchased weapons which followed all the normal firearms transfer rules accounted for somewhere between six and eight percent of all murders. And the majority of those were domestic violence incidents, violence between family members, crimes of passion and, yes… murders committed by the insane. But let’s give the gun grabbers the benefit of the doubt, round it up and say that ten percent were committed with legally purchases guns. That works out to around 850.
850 is too many people, but it’s a far cry from more than 32,000 per year.
So what do you want to do about it?
Now that we’ve discovered who is being killed by guns and how it’s happening, let’s put some actual solutions on the table. First of all, as we saw above, the vast majority of gun deaths are suicides. That’s not a gun control issue. Suicides largely fall into two groups: the depressed, hopeless and mentally ill or those suffering from terminal illness looking for a fast way out. For the former we definitely need to be providing more help and counseling to the hopeless and the depressed, allowing them to find a better way to deal with their problems than a terminal exit. And the mentally ill remain a major – but not gun control related – challenge for our legislators to deal with. For the terminally ill, as toxic of a subject as it may be, assisted suicide laws such as are already in place in a couple of states might at least offer those on their way out of this world a more peaceful and medically sound path than putting a barrel in their mouth.
Accidents account for too many deaths and that’s a place where responsible gun owners must always strive to improve in terms of educating the public. The NRA does some great work in this area, but there are still too many people making careless, stupid mistakes which wind up costing somebody their life. Also, the number of stolen guns can be cut down if more owners take the necessary precautions to make it harder for thieves to steal their weapons from their homes and automobiles..."

High School Principal CANCELS AMERICA DAY

High School Principal CANCELS AMERICA DAY | The Daily Caller
"High School Students Revolt After Principal CANCELS ‘AMERICA PRIDE DAY’
Students at a Wyoming high school took matters into their own hands last week by festooning themselves in the colors of the American flag after the principal and an assistant principal canceled “America Pride Day” over concerns that some immigrant students could feel sad and left out.
The scene of the red, white and blue brouhaha was Jackson Hole High School in Jackson, Wyo., reports the Jackson Hole News&Guide.
In response to a decision by school officials to replace a previously-held “America Pride Day” with “College Day” as part of this year’s homecoming festivities, a large group of senior students and some juniors protested by bedecking themselves with American flag capes, American flag headbands, American flag shorts and all manner of beautifully and garishly patriotic American flag ornamentation.
After school, one kid also drove a diesel truck around the parking lot with a bunch of American flags waving in the breeze."

Criticism of Islam Could Soon be a Crime in America

Criticism of Islam Could Soon be a Crime in America:
When President Obama delivered his much-anticipated speech to the Muslim world at Cairo University in June 2009, the free world trembled while the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) gushed with praise and begged  for a meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The OIC is the largest head of state organization in the world after the United Nations (UN) itself and comprises 56 Muslim countries plus the Palestinians.
It claims  to be the “collective voice of the Muslim world,” i.e., the ummah, and speaks on its behalf in effect as the seat of the next Islamic Caliphate.
In 1990, the OIC membership adopted the “Cairo Declaration ,” which officially exempted all Muslim countries from compliance with the UN Universal Declaration on Human Rights and replaced it with Islamic law (shariah).
One of the fundamental laws of Islam deals with “slander ,” which is defined in shariah as saying “anything concerning a person [a Muslim] that he would dislike.”
At the OIC’s Third Extraordinary Session, held in Mecca, Saudi Arabia in December 2005, the organization adopted a “Ten-Year Programme of Action  to Meet the Challenges Facing the Muslim Ummah in the 21st Century.”
A key agenda  item of that meeting was “the need to counter Islamophobia” by seeking to have the UN “…adopt an international resolution to counter Islamophobia, and call upon all States to enact laws to counter it, including deterrent punishments...”

Zero correlation between state homicide rate and state gun laws

Zero correlation between state homicide rate and state gun laws - The Washington Post
There’s been much talk recently — including from President Obama — about there being a substantial correlation between state-level gun death rates and state gun laws.
Now correlation obviously doesn’t equal causation; there may be lots of other factors that are the true causes of both of the things that are being measured.
But if we do look for now at correlation, it seems to me that the key question should focus on state total homicide rates, or perhaps (for reasons I describe below) total intentional homicide plus accidental gun death rates.
And it turns out that there is essentially zero correlation between these numbers and state gun laws.
To begin with, here’s why I focus on total homicide,
rather than gun homicide or all gun deaths.
First, few people care much about whether they are stabbed to death or shot to death.
And even if gun restrictions do decrease gun homicides, that effect may well be offset (or more than offset) by an increase in other homicides:
Some killers would kill with knives or other weapons instead of guns.
To the extent that today some attempted killings are stopped by defenders who have guns, those attempts might succeed if the guns become harder enough for defenders to get.
...But since people have been talking about simple two-variable correlations between gun laws and crime, I thought it would be helpful to note this correlation — or, rather, absence of correlation.

Well done, feminism. Now man are afraid to help women at work

Well done, feminism. Now man are afraid to help women at work - Telegraph:
"And the author should know about tough working environments: she’s a former equities trader at Morgan Stanley.
Tellingly, Elsesser adds that companies themselves are contributing to this mess, as they are now so terrified of legal action they send staff on sexual harassment training courses, and are duty-bound to follow up on any allegation, however minor.
Ludicrously, Elsesser cites examples of men who have been dragged in by their HR departments for simply opening a door for a female colleague or complimenting her on a new suit.
“Stories like these spread around workplaces, instilling a fear that innocent remarks will be misinterpreted,” she says.
...Of course, despite the fact that it is men who are getting the rough end of the pineapple here, this is all being painted as Officially Bad For Women, as they are failing to get on.
But how are men meant to react when we’re informed that, despite decades of being told women don’t need or even want men’s help, now they’re falling behind because we’re not helping them?
A phrase involving “cake and eat it” leaps to mind – although don’t repeat it at work, as you’ll probably be frogmarched to HR for “fat shaming”.
Elsesser’s book echoes an insightful New York Post article from earlier this year called ‘Powerful Men Now Hide Behind Open Doors’."

THOUSANDS OF FEDERAL DRUG INMATES SET FOR EARLY RELEASE

News from The Associated Press:
"WASHINGTON (AP) -- Thousands of federal inmates serving sentences for drug crimes are set for early release next month under a cost-cutting measure intended to reduce the nation's prison population.
The more than 5,500 inmates set to go free in November are among the first of what could eventually be tens of thousands eligible for release.
The U.S. Sentencing Commission voted last year to retroactively apply substantially lower recommended sentences for those convicted of drug-related felonies.
The commission, an independent panel that sets federal sentencing policy, estimated the prison terms would be cut by an average of 25 months.
Under the program, a judge reviews each prisoner's case to decide if his or her release would jeopardize public safety.
Most of those eligible for consideration have already served 10 years or more.
The Justice Department estimates that roughly 40,000 prisoners could benefit from the program in the coming years..."

Why is Socialism Making a Comeback? Because People are Stupid - Eagle Rising

Why is Socialism Making a Comeback? Because People are Stupid - Eagle Rising:

"Now is the only time when socialism makes any sense. When there is still wealth enough to go around, but it’s not going around quite like you’d like. That’s when socialism makes the most sense. But give into it, and it pulls its bait and switch. The reality of socialism fully unfurled is greater injustice, totalitarianism, and abject poverty. Ask anyone who has lived through it. Ask Boris Yeltsin. All it took for him to abandon socialism was a trip to an American grocery store. What’s our excuse?"
