Obama Administration’s Opposition to FOIA Reform Seen as Another Knock on Its Claim to Be the ‘Most Transparent’ in History | TheBlaze.com
"The Obama administration actively opposed bipartisan legislation to reform the Freedom of Information Act, which have forced the federal government to be more transparent and streamline the release of documents to the public.
That’s according to documents obtained by the Freedom of the Press Foundation, a transparency nonprofit advocacy group, that obtained 114 pages of documents between the Justice Department and members of Congress regarding the FOIA reform bill largely sought to codify President Barack Obama’s “presumption of openness” into law."

Americans Don’t Read… and that’s Affecting our Elections | Intellectual Takeout:
In 2013, the Nation’s Report Card showed that only 38% of high school seniors were proficient in reading.
...the following U.S. literacy statistics are even more alarming:
But so what, right? In our enlightened digital age, what harm does it really bring if American literacy is tanking?
A lot of harm, according to John Adams, particularly when it comes to elections. In 1761, he noted:
“The very Ground of our Liberties, is the freedom of Elections. Every Man has in Politicks as well as Religion, a Right to think and speak and Act for himself. No man either King or Subject, Clergyman or Layman has any Right to dictate to me the Person I shall choose for my Legislator and Ruler. I must judge for myself, but how can I judge, how can any Man judge, unless his Mind has been opened and enlarged by Reading. A Man who can read, will find in his Bible, in the common sermon Books that common People have by them and even in the Almanack and News Papers, Rules and observations, that will enlarge his Range of Thought, and enable him the better to judge who has and who has not that Integrity of Heart, and that Compass of Knowledge and Understanding, which form the Statesman.”
Considering the state of the 2016 election, would you say it’s high time for Americans to step up their literacy game?"

"In their “hottest year ever” press briefing, NOAA included this graph, which stated that they have a 58 year long radiosonde temperature record. But they only showed the last 37 years in the graph.
Here is why they are hiding the rest of the data. The earlier data showed as much pre-1979 cooling as the post-1979 warming.
I combined the two graphs at the same scale below, and put a horizontal red reference line in, which shows that the earth’s atmosphere has not warmed at all since the late 1950’s
The omission of this data from the NOAA report, is just their latest attempt to defraud the public.
NOAA’s best data shows no warming for 60 years.
But it gets worse.
The graph in the NOAA report shows about 0.5C warming from 1979 to 2010, but their original published data shows little warming during that period.

Iran's Cash for Murder: Why is the UK Silent?
Iran's Cash for Murder: Why is the UK Silent?:
- It is worth considering another recent Iranian development: the decision -- allegedly by a conglomeration of media outlets, but hardly able to be separated from the government in a country whose press is more "government" than "free" -- to increase the cash-bounty on the head of the British novelist Salman Rushdie.
- The British government has been strangely mute on the matter. The "normalised" relations with Iran were meant to lead to business opportunities for Britain and an increase in decent behavior from Tehran. Instead, the first major test of Iranian-British relations in several decades turns out to be precisely the same test that the late Ayatollah Khomeini drew up in 1989.

If Sweden and Germany Became US States, They Would be Among the Poorest States
If Sweden and Germany Became US States, They Would be Among the Poorest States | Mises Wire
The battle over the assumed success of European socialism continues.
Many European countries like Sweden have gained a reputation as being very wealthy in spite of their highly regulated and taxed economies.
From there, many assume that the rest of Europe is more or less similar, even if slightly poorer.
But if we look more closely at the data, a very different picture emerges, and we find that the median household in the US is better off (income-wise) than the median household in all but three European countries.
Worse than Mississippi?
Last year, a debate erupted over how Britain would compare to individual US states.
In the UK Spectator, Fraser Nelson explained "Why Britain is poorer than any US state, other than Mississippi."
A week later, TIME shot back with an article titled "No, Britain Is Not Poorer than Alabama."
The author of the TIME article, Dan Stewart, explained that, yes, Britain is poorer than many US states, but certainly not all of them. (See below to confirm that the UK is, in fact, poorer than every state.)
...The nationwide median income for the US is in red. To the left of the red column are other OECD countries, and to the right of the red bar are individual US states.
These national-level comparisons take into account taxes, and include social benefits (e.g., "welfare" and state-subsidized health care) as income.
Purchasing power is adjusted to take differences in the cost of living in different countries into account.
Since Sweden is held up as a sort of promised land by American socialists, let's compare it first.
We find that, if it were to join the US as a state, Sweden would be poorer than all but 12 states, with a median income of $27,167.
Median residents in states like Colorado ($35,830), Massachusetts ($37,626), Virginia ($39,291), Washington ($36,343), and Utah ($36,036) have considerably higher incomes than Sweden..."

The doctored science of global warming
EDITORIAL: The doctored science of global warming - Washington Times
"Pure science undertaken for science’s own sake is as rare as a rainbow.
It’s certainly scarce in Washington, where the quest for knowledge is vulnerable to the bias of politics.
Skeptics of President Obama’s climate change agenda say they see new evidence of fraud.
If administration officials are colluding with scientists to cook the evidence, such as it might be, to demonstrate that the planet is warming, the skeptics deserve everyone’s thanks.
Whistleblowers within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) complained last year that a major study by agency researcher Thomas Karl, refuting evidence of a pause in global warming, had been rushed to publication.
The implication was that the study was coordinated with Obama administration officials to add to the urgency of the president’s climate change agenda in advance of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.
...Data consist of facts, and facts can be cherry-picked to yield a desired effect.
In the NOAA study, researchers found that ocean temperatures measured by ships were warmer than those recorded by buoys anchored in place, and scientists “developed a method to correct the difference between ship and buoy measurements.”
Ship’s engines, however, can heat nearby water and produce false readings.
...The argument was the basis for the Paris climate change agreement, endorsed by nearly 200 nations. If documents were to emerge suggesting temperature data was doctored to reach an expedient conclusion in the NOAA study, and if White House officials were part of such a scheme, that would be proof that science had been recruited to serve politics.
...EPA officials quietly schemed with environmentalists to write regulations reinforcing their shared climate change agenda.
The agency has denied the accusations..."

6 Time Felon Killed In Shootout By 13 Year Old During Home Invasion
"A brave 13-year-old Ladson boy fended off two hardened felons who were attempting to break into his house by using his mother’s gun to protect himself while home alone.
The boy saw the men breaking into the back of his home, “at which time he feared for his safety” and grabbed his mother’s gun, the document states.
He began firing at them, and the Sheriff’s office reported that they returned fire.
In a heated shootout, he shot Brown three times, and Bennett drove him to the hospital where he later died.

LIBERTY REVIEW:

Hate, racism and phobias of all types imaginable are being
created to cause chaos. Using the phrase
“political correctness” is a default excuse.
It’s used by our enemies, both foreign and domestic, to gain control of
a once independent thinking people.
What kind of society have we become? We have allowed one person, one
administration, to put us on a suicidal path. People are beginning to following
the example of the administration by acting on their own to promote unrest.....

Striking A Match
By Tammy Derouin
The level to which our country has sunk is appalling. We embrace hate, death and deceit. Those who break the laws, disregard rules,
assist those who want to destroy us and spend more time lying than breathing,
are elevated to higher positions in our government. The people they deceive are the very people
who reward them. Many have allowed themselves to be conned into
believing that wrong is now right. How
else do you explain such backwards behavior?
Civil disorder is being encouraged and fueled from the
highest levels of our government.
Problems that either didn’t exist, or only existed on a small scale,
have been repackaged and sold to strike a nerve. But, it doesn’t end there. Striking a nerve leads to striking a
match.

Diversity chief says Spike Lee-endorsed protest is ‘unfair’
Concerned Student 1950 is wearing down everyone who comes into contact with the University of Missouri racial-protest group—even the hunger-striker who brought it to fame.
Mizzou’s new leaders are denouncing the group for a protest it held Monday, joined by film director Spike Lee, against the very diversity program in which the group is participating.
Jonathan Butler, the grad student whose hunger strike prompted the Mizzou football team to go on strike, also announced he’s exited the group partly for the sake of his health.
First smart thing he’s done all year
Although “The Working Group” racial task force conceived by Mizzou’s new diversity chief has met just three times since its February launch, Concerned Student 1950 is writing it off completely.
The group met on campus shortly before noon Monday with director Lee to protest the new committee, but it had trouble finding administrators willing to hear the activists.
...“A lot of people don’t see that we are trying to reach out, and they shut the door on us all the time,” Imani Simmons-Elloie, a member of the group, told Columbia Daily Tribune after the demonstration. “We’re the black kids that are crying wolf to everybody else.”...

This is a story from late last month that should be nothing new to readers who have followed this blog since 2007. We probably have 100 posts on this same subject, namely meatpackers working with the help of refugee resettlement contractors to spread Islam throughout the heartland. LOL! Someone could write a book!

We probably have 100 posts on this same subject, namely meatpackers working with the help of refugee resettlement contractors to spread Islam throughout the heartland. LOL! Someone could write a book!

Meatpackers changing the face of the American heartland, here in Lexington, Nebraska.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexington,_Nebraska
The story about a clash in Lexington, Nebraska about the location of a new Somali mosque is the subject of this lengthy report from the Omaha World-Herald late last month. (Sorry, just getting around to it now!).
Reporter Paul Hammel begins with this:
LEXINGTON, Neb. — The old Longhorn Laundry is an unlikely place for a showdown over the First Amendment.
You could easily miss the nondescript concrete building on a quiet downtown corner of this old cow town.
But ever since a group of Somali workers from the local meatpacking plant spread out a sea of Persian rugs in the expansive former laundry and began holding Muslim prayer services five times a day, there has been controversy.
City officials maintain that mosque leaders are ignoring local zoning laws and thumbing their noses at requirements for building permits and fire-code inspections.
They insist that the flap is about a lack of parking, not a denial of religious freedom, and that it wasn’t spurred by “Islamophobia.”
The attraction is employment at Tyson Foods:
African Muslims, mostly from war-torn Somalia, started arriving in the mid-2000s. Census estimates put the number of Somalis in Lexington at 769 in 2014 — a 40 percent increase from 2000. Local Somalis and those who work with them say there actually may be 1,500 or more living in the community.
Across Nebraska, census estimates show 2,100 Somali-born residents clustered in Omaha and Lincoln, and near meatpacking plants in Grand Island and Madison, as well as Lexington.
Read the whole thing, it is well worth it. Hammel interviewed many of the players in the drama, including the Lutheran resettlement contractor out of Omaha.
We also have many posts here at RRW about the controversy with Somalis in Grand Island, NE over the years. https://refugeeresettlementwatch.wordpress.com/?s=Grand+Island+Nebraska
What do the numbers look like?
To get an idea of what has been going on in Nebraska and because I wanted to know if Lexington’s Somalis are so-called ‘secondary migrants,’ I had a look at the US State Department data base and learned that since Obama was elected, Nebraska has ‘welcomed’ 6,716 refugees and the numbers have been increasing each of those years.
Most of the refugees (seeded in Nebraska by federal ‘church’ contractors) are Burmese or Iraqis, but of course Somalis have been resettled as well. (There are small numbers of Muslim Burmese and the largest group of Iraqis we admit to the US are Muslims. Somalis are virtually all Muslim.)
The largest numbers went to Lincoln and Omaha, but I was surprised to see that the Lutheran agencies operating in the state placed 33 Somalis directly in Lexington which is well over a hundred miles from any resettlement office (unless one of the federal contractors has set up a subsidiary office way out Interstate 80 in Lexington). The larger numbers of Somalis reported are indeed ‘secondary migrants’ (resettled in another state who then moved to Nebraska for meatpacking work.) I’ll look into this further…..
See what we have reported about Nebraska over the last few years by clicking here."
