7-Year-Old Girl Schools NY Reporter on AR-15s

AWESOME: 7-Year-Old Girl Schools NY Reporter on AR-15s:
Last week New York Daily News reporter Gersh Kuntzman set out to prove just how dangerous the AR-15 really is.
Toward that end, he went to the range and fired one himself – but instead of scaring people, he invited ridicule upon himself.
Kuntzman said that firing the AR-15 was “terrifying and very loud”:
“The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions — loud like a bomb — gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.
Even in semi-automatic mode, it is very simple to squeeze off two dozen rounds before you even know what has happened. If illegally modified to fully automatic mode, it doesn’t take any imagination to see dozens of bodies falling in front of your barrel.”

In addition to those who pointed out the obvious flaws in his assessment:

  • he claimed to be distracted by brass flying in front of his face, but shells would have ejected away from his body
  • he claimed that “even in semi-automatic mode, it is very simple to squeeze off two dozen rounds before you even know what has happened,” but semi-automatic mode only allows for one bullet per trigger squeeze

He took a beating on Twitter:

For the "man" that refers to firing an AR as "horrifying, dangerous and very loud " O.o @GershKuntzman
@GershKuntzman it's fun, and perfectly safe in the conditions you were shooting. Don't be such a pussy.@NYDailyNews@NotesFromHeL
And then this little girl showed him just how easy – and not scary – it was to fire an AR-15 when one has been properly trained to do so. After she easily fired 5 rounds – one at a time – she confirmed that this was the first time she had ever fired an AR-15.
Kuntzman noted on Thursday that a number of people had sent him videos of young girls firing AR-15s, and rather than feeling shamed or corrected, he simply found it “horrifying.”

After Brexit: Roadmap for a leap in the dark

After Brexit: Roadmap for a leap in the dark | Reuters:
"Dawn, next Friday.
The votes are in.
The British have spoken in their EU membership referendum and they want out.
It is a scenario European leaders are planning for in earnest while praying it never happens.
Secret meetings in Brussels and across Europe reveal huge uncertainty, officials and diplomats familiar with the proceedings say, over what would follow a vote that British Prime Minister David Cameron calls a "leap in the dark" - and also no little concern about what happens if Britain stays on.
This is a rough roadmap to Europe after June 23, based on conversations with many diplomats and officials, few of whom speak of it in public for fear of inflaming debate in Britain:

Former UN Ambassador John Bolton Takes Off The Gloves...Calls Obama 'A Small Man' Because...: "But Bolton summed it up the best.

“This is a failure of presidential leadership,” said the former diplomat and Yale-educated lawyer. “The country wants to hear from the president what we’re going to do to prevent this from happening. Instead we get a lecture from one of the most narcissistic individuals ever to hold that job about what’s wrong with the rest of us, who don’t have the tolerance he does for people he thinks are being unfairly criticized."

Which Labor Market Data Should You Believe?

Which Labor Market Data Should You Believe? - The New York Times:
"When the unemployment rate falls below 5 percent, it usually means things are going pretty well. It was 4.7 percent in May, a level last seen in November 2007.
A different measure of the economy’s health, however, is beeping and flashing red.
It says that labor market conditions have deteriorated with each passing month this year.
In May, it fell to its lowest level in seven years.
Called the Labor Market Conditions Index, it has been billed as a more complete measurement than that old war horse, the unemployment rate.
There are two possible explanations for the index’s decline: one somewhat comforting, and the other scary.
...But there are also some pretty strong reasons for skepticism.
My personal favorite:

  • In 2007, about 88 percent of men between the ages of 25 and 54 were working. Now, roughly 85 percent of such men are working.

That’s a difference of about two million men, most of whom probably would like jobs.
The scary explanation?
Job growth is slowing because the economy is losing steam.
...The Federal Reserve introduced the new measure of labor market health a few months after Janet Yellen became the Fed’s chairwoman in 2014.
It created the index because the unemployment rate is too simple.
Even the name is too simple.
It doesn’t actually measure unemployment; it counts only people who are actively looking for work. Moreover, a low unemployment rate doesn’t tell you how many part-time workers would like full-time gigs.
It doesn’t tell you how many full-time workers would like a better job at higher pay..."

IRS Spent $11 Million On Guns, Ammo In The Past Ten Years

IRS Spent $11 Million On Guns, Ammo In The Past Ten Years | The Daily Caller:
"The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) seems to be building an army.
The IRS spent nearly $11 million on guns, ammunition and “military-style equipment” between 2006 and 2014, according to a new report.
IRS investment in heavy firearms and tactical gear is a new trend for the agency, but it follows a pattern of militarization repeated throughout the executive branch of the government.
...The report shows that the IRS and other non-law enforcement agencies rapidly increased purchases of military gear in the past decade.
The amount the IRS spends on weapons and equipment has risen since 2006 from around half a million to $1,070,456 in 2014.
Purchases of guns and ammunition spiked in 2011 to more than $2 million, according to the report. Over the same period, the number of special agents the IRS employed declined from more than 3,000 to just about 2,000 in 2014.
...While the number of IRS special agents has declined, the number of total federal agents has increased sharply.
“The number of non-Defense Department federal officers authorized to make arrests and carry firearms (200,000) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000),” former Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn and OpenTheBooks founder and CEO Adam Andrzejewski said in a Wall Street Journal column..."

Amarillo, TX being destroyed by refugee overload

Amarillo, TX being destroyed by refugee overload « Refugee Resettlement Watch:
"Small ghettos” of competing ethnic groups have developed!
We have been writing about Amarillo, Texas (a ‘pocket of resistance’) for a couple of years (see our complete archive by clicking here).
Like so many meatpacking towns in America, federal refugee resettlement contractors got a foot hold there years ago (mostly working as ‘head hunters’ for the meatpacking industry) and have continued to pour third-worlders into Amarillo despite pleas by elected officials to STOP!
From Watchdog.org (hat tip: Robin):
As Texas officials spar with Obama administration lawyers over refugee resettlement, Amarillo is building Muslim “ghettos.”
Under federal refugee programs, the North Texas town has become home to more than 1,000 Mideast migrants – giving Amarillo the highest refugee ratio in the country.
“Our education system is overloaded with kids who can’t speak English.
We have something like 22 languages spoken in our schools,” said William Sumerford, a local taxpayer activist.
City Commissioner Randy Burkett is considering a plan to halt further refugee settlements.
Burkett could not be reached, but Mayor Paul Harpole isn’t optimistic about the city’s authority to push back.
“We’ve been a giving community, and it’s a huge disservice to bring in refugees in numbers that we’re not able to handle.
We create small ghettos,” Harpole told Watchdog.org.

Why do Somalis need their own government within American cities?
It is about Sharia Law!
This is how it begins!
“A group of Somalis came in to say they had elected a mayor of their community,” Harpole related. “Then another faction claimed they had their own leader.
We come to find out that rival tribes — slaves and masters — were being settled together....”

3 Key Democratic Claims on Guns Get Fact-Checked by WaPo — Here’s What They Found | TheBlaze.com:

"In the week following the worst mass shooting in American history, politicians in Washington, D.C., particularly Democrats, have made numerous claims related to gun violence. But is any of what they’re saying actually true, or just more talking points?

The Washington Post fact-checked three specific claims made by two Democratic senators, and found that, at least in these instances, there’s more political rhetoric being stated than veracity"

GARRISON KEILLOR IS RETIRING FROM NPR’S THE PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION

Instapundit » Blog Archive » GARRISON KEILLOR IS RETIRING FROM NPR’S THE PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION: “Public radio always wondere…:
As with many on the left, in the wake of 9/11, Keillor emerged as a vicious partisan, describing President Bush’s supporters thusly in 2004:
The party of Lincoln and Liberty was transmogrified into the party of hairy-backed swamp developers and corporate shills, faith-based economists, fundamentalist bullies with Bibles, Christians of convenience, freelance racists, misanthropic frat boys, shrieking midgets of AM radio, tax cheats, nihilists in golf pants, brownshirts in pinstripes, sweatshop tycoons, hacks, fakirs, aggressive dorks, Lamborghini libertarians, people who believe Neil Armstrong’s moonwalk was filmed in Roswell, New Mexico, little honkers out to diminish the rest of us, Newt’s evil spawn and their Etch-A-Sketch president, a dull and rigid man suspicious of the free flow of information and of secular institutions, whose philosophy is a jumble of badly sutured body parts trying to walk.
As Christopher Caldwell memorably put it that same year:  “At some point, Democrats became the party of small-town people who think they’re too big for their small towns
For these people, liberalism is not a belief at all. No, it’s something more important: a badge of certain social aspirations.
That is why the laments of the small-town leftists get voiced with such intemperance and desperation.
As if those who voice them are fighting off the nagging thoughtIf the Republicans aren’t particularly evil, then maybe I’m not particularly special.”

AG Lynch Announces Global Police Force Partnership with UN | Truth Revolt
"During her speech at the United Nations Wednesday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced that the Department of Justice is launching a global police force in order to combat "violent extremism" in the United States.
A proposal such as this, with all of its various implications of an overreach of power, should be front-page news everywhere, but unfortunately, not many noticed. And that's a concern to constitutional attorney KrisAnne Hall who released a video to make the rallying call.
"Something happened yesterday that I'm afraid will go completely unnoticed," Hall began.
"Yesterday, the Department of Justice, several cities within the United States, several municipalities, linked up with the United Nations to form a global police initiative. It is called the Strong Cities Network."
...Helping her get this message out is noted fighter against the Islamization of America, Pamela Geller.
In her latest piece for Breitbart, she sends out a similar warning:
The groundwork is being laid for federal and international interference down to the local level. “The Strong Cities Network,” Lynch declared, “will serve as a vital tool to strengthen capacity-building and improve collaboration” – i.e., local dependence on federal and international authorities.
Lynch made the global (that is, United Nations) involvement clear when she added: “As we continue to counter a range of domestic and global terror threats, this innovative platform will enable cities to learn from one another, to develop best practices and to build social cohesion and community resilience here at home and around the world.”...

Former Starbucks CEO Slams Seattle For Scheduling Rule

Former Starbucks CEO Slams Seattle For Scheduling Rule | The Daily Caller:
"Former Starbucks President Howard Behar denounced a proposed scheduling rule Thursday for putting unnecessary stress on Seattle business owners.
Behar worked as president of the famed coffee shop for 21 years before eventually retiring in 2007. Starbucks started as a small coffee shop in Seattle but under his tenure it expanded into an international operation.
Behar warned on The Dori Monson Show that the very city in which his company started is about to put undue pressure on business owners because of a proposed scheduling rule.
“It’s the opposite of flexible; they are making it inflexible,” Behar told Monson.
“They are making it so there are so many rules that if you wanted to hire an extra person from your staff, you’d have to get permission from your employees first.
So you couldn’t even hire anybody without offering the hours to those people.”
Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and some city council members announced the new rule Feb. 4 with the aims to overhaul workplace scheduling laws.
Employers would be required to provide advance notice before schedule changes and give their workers at least 11 hours off between shifts.
It would also require employers to ask if their current workers want more hours before hiring any additional staff..."

Philadelphia Passes Soda Tax, But Not Without Some Slamming the ‘Regressive’ Tariff | Video | TheBlaze.com:

"Philadelphia became the first major American city with a soda tax Thursday, despite much criticism for the resolution and a multi-million campaign by the beverage industry to block it.

In a final 13-4 vote, the Philadelphia City Council passed a 1.5-cents-per-ounce tax on all sugar-added and artificially-sweetened soft drinks, according to WPVI-TV. The tax would add 18 cents to the cost of a can of soda, $1.08 to the cost of a six-pack and $1.02 to the cost a two-liter bottle."
