The Liberal Ideological Complex

The Liberal Ideological Complex | The Weekly Standard:
".  .  . vast bureaucracies of civil servants, no longer servants and no longer civil." (Winston Churchill)
In 1961 President Dwight Eisenhower warned of the danger of a military-industrial complex.
This powerful public-private collaboration, he said, had the potential to exert "unwarranted influence" over America's democratic processes.
A half-century later, there are still those on the left who cling to this fear.
Image result for big government ComplexBut it seems that Eisenhower's warning had its intended effect—and perhaps then some.
In 1961 defense spending constituted 9.1 percent of the gross domestic product, and there were 2,483,000 uniformed military personnel.
Today, defense spending is 3.2 percent of GDP and 1,390,000 men and women serve in the uniformed military.
If this behemoth is threatening America's democratic processes, it is not doing so very successfully.
There is, however, another interlocking public-private collaboration that is at once more insidious, more powerful, and more straightforwardly partisan: the liberal ideological complex.

  • We do not always see this collaboration so clearly, because we tend to view each aspect of it as unique and not part of a larger picture.
  • We look, for example, at public sector unions as a labor issue.
  • We look at funding for Planned Parenthood through the lens of abortion policy.
  • We look at EPA regulations and grants in terms of global warming and job destruction.
  • And so on and so forth, down to the smallest, most narrowly tailored grant awards of the federal government.

Yet in each of these cases, the complex functions in essentially the same way.
Federal funds are provided for organizations that carry out liberal policies.
In turn, these groups employ like-minded staff and both the leadership and the staff of these groups contribute money, time, and services to the politicians who favor this use of federal funds.
This creates a vicious circle in which campaign funds are indirectly skimmed off the top of taxpayer-funded organizations, all in the service of liberal ideology..."

Fox’s Judge Jeanine Pirro rips Michelle Obama: ‘Americans rejected you and everything you stand for’ – TheBlaze

Fox’s Judge Jeanine Pirro rips Michelle Obama: ‘Americans rejected you and everything you stand for’ – TheBlaze:

"Obama said during a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey that under her husband, President Barack Obama, the country faced a momentum of hope following his election in 2008 and 2012, but now that hope has run out.

“Since when does hope rise and fall with you and Barack in the White House?” Pirro questioned.

“This from a woman who, in 2008 at age 44, said ‘for the first time I’m proud of my country,'” Pirro added. “[Now] eight years later you’re out of hope?”"

Expert: Cash Transferred by Obama Admin to Tehran Led to Expansion of Iranian Military Budget by 39 Percent

Expert: Cash Transferred by Obama Admin to Tehran Led to Expansion of Iranian Military Budget by 39 Percent | Jewish & Israel News Algemeiner.com:
"The controversial transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars in cash to Tehran by the Obama administration a few months ago is likely being used to expand Iran’s defense budget, according to an analysis by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
Image result for obama iranAccording to former senior MEMRI analyst Dr. Nimrod Raphaeli, though “money is fungible,” and it cannot be established that the $1.7 billion (originally reported as $400 million) delivered in two tranches to the Islamic Republic in exchange for the release of American hostages has gone directly to Iran’s various military branches and operations,
...at a minimum, enabled the government to release an equal amount of money for defense purposes. It is noteworthy that the increase in the proposed defense budget for 2017 is approximately equal to the amount transferred by the US.
...Raphaeli wrote that since mid-2013, when Hassan Rouhani succeeded Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as president, the regime’s allocations to the military have continuously grown.
But ahead of the next fiscal year (March 2017-March 2018), the government submitted a draft budget that sees a sharp increase of 39 percent – amounting to a total of $10.3 billion – for defense, including a big increase in the budget of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)...

No outrage from the media here-----Detroit's election woes: 782 more votes than voters

Detroit's election woes: 782 more votes than voters:
"Another 382 Detroiters were listed as voting but their ballots never showed up in the count.
Whether the result of machine malfunction, human error or even fraud, the unexplained voting discrepancies in Detroit last month were not sizable enough to affect the outcome in Michigan of the presidential election, according to a new Free Press analysis of voting precinct records.
In 248 precincts, there were a total of 782 more votes tabulated by voting machines than the number of voters listed as picking up ballots in the precincts’ poll books.
...The Free Press analysis found there were 248 precincts in Detroit where voting machines tabulated more Election Day votes than people who were counted as checking in to vote.
The affected precincts represent 37% of the city's 662 precincts..."

Why we need the Electoral College

Why we need the Electoral College - Personal Liberty®:
"...The Founding Fathers feared two things above all else: a democracy and an overly powerful executive.
The Electoral College was designed to prevent both.
Image result for democracy sheep wolvesFor a good history of the Electoral College and its evolution over the years, read “Origins of the Electoral College,” by Randall G. Holcombe.
...The election process has drifted far from where the Founders intended.
Still, the Electoral College is essential for preventing the U.S. from becoming a democracy with the president elected by popular vote.
Democracies are mob rule or groupism, as I explained in “How the anti-Trump crowd clamors for its own slavery.”
Democracy is anathema to individual liberty. Democracy is tyranny with a pretty face.
Without the Electoral College a presidential candidate would merely have to win a big majority of the population in the five or six of the most populace states to carry the election – say California, New York, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.
As it is, Democrats hold a decisive advantage in the Electoral College math because they advocate for socialism, minorities love socialism, and minorities tend to congregate in the urban areas.
As a result, Democrats can win only about 20-30 percent of the counties of the America and still win the election, even with the Electoral College.
Look at the map* below.
It shows the counties won by Hillary Clinton (blue) and Donald Trump (red)."

BREAKING: Senate Delivers Epic, Veto-Proof Defense Bill to Obama

BREAKING: Senate Delivers Epic, Veto-Proof Defense Bill to Obama:

"According to Fox News, the Senate voted 92-7 on Thursday to pass the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act, a spending bill of about $611 billion that will fund the military for fiscal year 2017.

The veto-proof bill, which has already passed the House by an extremely wide margin, will increase defense spending over the amount President Barack Obama had requested, halt the draw-down of active-duty Army troops, forestall planned base closings, prohibit the closure of the military detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and give troops a long-awaited pay raise."

Facebook Is Relying on Liberal Fact-Checkers
"Facebook doesn’t think you know what’s “fake news” and what’s not.
Image result for fake news checkersIn an announcement Thursday, the social media giant said it was going to crack down on fake news through a variety of ways, including letting users report what they deem to be fake news.
But one item on Facebook’s list of methods to crack down was particularly concerning:
We’ve started a program to work with third-party fact-checking organizations that are signatories of Poynter’s International Fact-Checking Code of Principles. We’ll use the reports from our community, along with other signals, to send stories to these organizations. If the fact-checking organizations identify a story as fake, it will get flagged as disputed and there will be a link to the corresponding article explaining why.
When you look at the signatories on the Poynter list, you’ll find seven from the United States: ABC News, The Washington Post, Snopes, Associated Press, FactCheck.org, Climate Feedback, and Politifact.
Aha.
Talk about the devil being in the details. These are hardly unbiased fact-checkers—conservatives have raised alarms about several of them. Let’s go through some examples:..."

For What It's Worth

For What It's Worth :: SteynOnline:
"Over the summer, I met a lady from southern Germany who had found herself on the receiving end of some vibrant multicultural outreach from one of Mutti Merkel's boy charmers.
As a result, she no longer goes out after dark.
She had also decided - with reluctance, because she enjoyed it - to cancel her participation in a local Christmas market, where she'd sung carols every year - in broad daylight.
"Why would you do that?" I asked.
"Because it's Christmas," she said, "and I'm worried Christmas will be a target."
Image result for german muslimsAnd so it's proved.
From another Yuletide market in southern Germany, not far from my friend:
A young boy tried to set off a nail bomb at a Christmas market in Ludwigshafen, but the device failed to detonate, prosecutors have confirmed.
The boy, a German citizen of Iraqi heritage, attempted to blow up the device at the Ludwigshafen Christmas market on November 26th. When the device failed to detonate he gave up, before trying again on December 5th, prosecutors said on Friday.
This time he took the explosive device, hidden in a rucksack filled with nails, and placed it in a bush near the town hall.
Fortunately a pedestrian spotted the bag and alerted police, who then had specialists carry out a controlled explosion, Focus magazine reported on Thursday, citing security sources.
Christmas markets are a grand German tradition, but probably not for much longer.
I wake up to stories like this every morning, and I can't write about them all..."

In A Battle Of Wits Against Kellyanne Conway, Josh Earnest Is Unarmed | The Daily Caller

In A Battle Of Wits Against Kellyanne Conway, Josh Earnest Is Unarmed | The Daily Caller:

"It’s one thing when the usual suspects of far-left activists and media propagandists spout such irresponsible and dangerous rhetoric. It’s quite another when it is done by the Press Secretary to President Obama from a podium in the White House.

In this particular case, Presidential press secretary Josh Earnest has decided to engage in a battle of wits with former Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway. Unfortunately for him, as the joke goes, in a battle of wits with Conway, he entered the fray an unarmed man."

Huma vs. the “Night Stalkers”

Huma vs. the “Night Stalkers” | Vanity Fair:
"Maybe I’m just pissed off, but I really don’t give a shit about what happens to Huma to be honest with you,” one close adviser to Hillary Clinton told me recently.
Image result for abedin long knovesHe was irked, in particular, at Abedin’s seemingly superfluous breach of decorum during a post-election event.
On the day after Hillary Clinton’s stunning loss to Donald Trump, this person said, Abedin appeared within the rope line while Clinton greeted her morose and woebegone supporters.
“You’re staff, O.K.?” this adviser continued. “Staff is staff. You’re not a principal.”
(A spokesperson for the Clinton campaign notes that Abedin was seated alongside the rest of the campaign’s senior leadership team that morning. Abedin declined an interview request.)
In the bizarre month since Clinton’s loss, few people besides the candidate herself have seen their fortunes overturned as significantly as has Abedin, 40, the glamorous and charismatic former vice-chair of the campaign.
For two decades, Abedin has been a fixture inside Clinton’s inner circle; she began her career as a college-aged White House intern and rose to become Clinton’s deputy chief of staff at the State Department.
As a former adviser to Bill Clinton once put it to me, over time Abedin morphed into “a mini Hillary” herself.
She wasn’t merely an aide, but rather an amalgamation of adviser, best friend, confidante, and perhaps even surrogate daughter. Abedin “inspires loyalty, and she’s loyal back,” one Clinton aide told Amy Chozick in her widely read dissection of Clintonworld for The New York Times Magazine, in 2014..."

At present rate, almost 14,000 Syrians would enter US this fiscal year, 98% Muslim

At present rate, almost 14,000 Syrians would enter US this fiscal year, 98% Muslim « Refugee Resettlement Watch:
"Two days ago, I reported on the total number of refugees being rushed in to the US right now presumably to beat an expected cut-off of resettlement from at least some countries (terror-producing) of the world after Donald Trump becomes President on January 20th.
And, although we reported new proposed sites have been placed on hold (see Bloomington, IN), there are still plenty of existing sites where refugees are being placed at the highest rate in recent memory.
Here is a map from Wrapsnet.org showing the numbers and placement of Syrians admitted to the US in the first ten weeks of this fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2016 to Dec. 10, 2016).
2,671 have been placed, and at this rate we would expect 13,889 by September 30th, 2017, if Donald Trump doesn’t do what he promised.
screenshot-92
This map is for the first 10 weeks of FY17. Florida is 132 (couldn’t fit whole map in shot) and Alaska and Hawaii are zero.
Here are the top ten states so far in FY2017 receiving Syrians.
Data from Wrapsnet puts the percentage of Muslims at 98% and the vast majority of those are Sunnis (remember it is the UN choosing our refugees!).

Just a reminder, this is only data for resettled refugees and does not take in to account Syrians getting in to the US through other means.

Mollie Hemingway Speaks Truth to Facebook: 'PolitiFact Is a Joke'

Mollie Hemingway Speaks Truth to Facebook: 'PolitiFact Is a Joke':

""5 Major Problems With Facebook’s Attempt To Limit ‘Fake News’." The most passionate argument was with PolitiFact.

The second problem listed was "PolitiFact is a joke. They should be trusted with nothing. They are the worst candidates to adjudicate fakery in the entire media establishment. Even among the disreputable 'fact' 'checking' class, they are noteworthy for their awfulness." They cannot be trusted with hard facts on Planned Parenthood."

Sorry, Not Sorry: Neither the Media Nor Their Owners are Going to Change

Sorry, Not Sorry: Neither the Media Nor Their Owners are Going to Change:
"...the “supreme religion of the U.S. press corps is reverence for power.”
Their priesthood is a cabal of anonymous sources; their catechism is war everlasting.
And so, the vulgar philistines on the plains, who foolishly prefer peaceful relations, steady work, and free healthcare to profiteering wars abroad, must be endlessly misled.
Don’t expect this to change...
Image result for the media liesMostly because 90 percent of the MSM is owned and operated by six conglomerates that have little interest in changing the system that profits them, or in changing the editorial narratives that support the system.
And most probably, like Barack Obama and Madame Secretary, because the media believes Trump voters are “a basket of deplorables” that are too unfixably ignorant to understand why Hillary was the right choice.
...Yet now, pundits unironically tell us, we live in a post-factual era.
...Then, fast forward to this fall, and witness the MSM spending the entirety of 2016 labeling all Trump supporters as white supremacist racist xenophobes clustered around their gun cabinets in landlocked flyover states.
To be fair, they also spent a fair amount of time tediously whitewashing Hillary’s bloodbath in Benghazi so the liberal intelligentsia could reaffirm their sagacious tropes about the moral universe being “…not black and white, but shades of gray.”
...Both the EU and the U.S. efforts are transparent acts of attempted thought control.
More than anything else, they tell us that if the press hasn’t learned its lesson, neither has the ruling class.
...For every unnamed source, we should attach a burden of proof.
For every piece of patriotic jingoism, a Dickensian qualifier.
And for every article of false faith, a bill of indictment."

Here’s What The Media Is Ignoring While Blaming Russia For Hillary Losing

Here’s What The Media Is Ignoring While Blaming Russia For Hillary Losing | The Daily Sheeple:
"According to a “secret CIA assessment,” Russia intervened in the U.S. election to undermine confidence in the electoral system and boost support for Donald Trump.
The president-elect has already rejected this notion, though the implications of claims regarding Russian involvement are still unclear.
Once again, this kind of pro-Clinton/anti-Russian-based narrative has already been completely debunked.
For example, in his recent article, “Anonymous Leaks to the WashPost About the CIA’s Russia Beliefs Are No Substitute for Evidence,” Glenn Greenwald brilliantly explains why this story does not merit our attention.
He astutely notes:
“There is still no such evidence for any of these claims. What we have instead are assertions, disseminated by anonymous people, completely unaccompanied by any evidence, let alone proof. As a result, none of the purported evidence — still — can be publicly seen, reviewed, or discussed. Anonymous claims leaked to newspapers about what the CIA believes do not constitute proof, and certainly do not constitute reliable evidence that substitutes for actual evidence that can be reviewed.”
Until such evidence is produced, rather than wasting time speculating on the extent of Russia’s involvement in the U.S. elections, we could instead turn to the real issue at play here.
The CIA, an entity that has interfered in sovereign governments across the geopolitical chessboard for decades, has accused another country of doing exactly what the agency does best without offering any physical evidence for their claims.
Let’s say Russia did intervene in the U.S. elections; it would be the most fitting example of “chickens coming home to roost.”
No entity should ever interfere in any sovereign elections, but clearly, if one is going to accuse others of doing so and cry wolf when they feel aggrieved, perhaps they should take a step back to reconsider what they have done to the rest of the world countless times.
As even the Washington Post — an establishment mouthpiece — points out, the United States has a long history of interfering in other countries’ elections.
According to Foreign Policy, the U.S. has gone beyond interfering with elections — it has overthrown seven governments since World War II..."

When morons have control of your "free money"-----Muskegon takes risk to revive downtown

Remember this "uplifting" story back in June, 2015?
Most Americans pay more in state and local taxes than in federal taxes.
Most of what affects your everyday life is determined by the decisions of local officials.
The feds do NOT provide your police, fire protection, courts, jails, water, sewer.

Educate your children, maintain your roads, parks public buildings.
Setting spending and taxes.
Here, in my community, is another example of citizens allowing (encouraging?) total idiots to waste money on personal quests.

This story
had wide, glowing TV and newspaper coverage last year.
Not so much these days.

Muskegon takes risk to revive downtown | Fox17:
"MUSKEGON, Mich.--  After waiting more than a decade for private investors, the city of Muskegon is now taking the fate of its downtown into its own hands.
They’re moving forward with a unique plan to revitalize and rebuild downtown despite the risks.
The city is stepping outside the box by buying up properties and land to develop homes and sell them. They purchased a plot of land south of downtown by 4th and Houston.
They built nine houses that they are planning to sell for $160,000-$180,000.
“I think people have been expecting us to have some sort of leadership in moving the city forward,” said the City Manager Frank Peterson.
Peterson said they are sick of waiting around for the private sector to invest, so they are taking matters into their own hands..."
And who did the city buy the properties from?
And what did they pay the owners?
This is now.
Only one of the nine currently occupied.
Sold? Rented? City quiet on that.

Not Fake News: ObamaCare Subsidy Costs Will Jump 30% Next Year

Not Fake News: ObamaCare Subsidy Costs Will Jump 30% Next Year | Stock News & Stock Market Analysis - IBD:
"The Center for Health and Economy finds that, even if enrollment for next year is relatively flat — they predict the number getting subsidies will go from 9.4 million this year to 9.7 million, which given current enrollment trends seems reasonable — ObamaCare's subsidy costs will still climb from $32.8 billion this year to $42.6 billion next year. That's an increase of 30%.
In case you're wondering, the Center for Health and Economy is not an Obama-hating right-wing, fake-news outfit.
It's a nonpartisan research group founded two years ago by many of the leading health care economists in the nation."
