If we built a new coal electricity generator with a capacity equal to Australia’s biggest coal generator of 2880MW and it was allowed to operate at 90% max capacity 24/7...

...long term it would take around 2,900 3MW wind turbines with an Australian average capacity factor of 30% to equal the electricity output of the coal station. - Climate Change Debate
  • To sum up ….1 coal generator of 2880MW with a capacity factor of 90% equals the output of 2900 3MW wind turbines with a capacity factor of 30%.
The wind turbines would require 1.3 million tonnes of steel, 4.3 million tonnes of concrete and 43,000 tonnes of copper.
The coal generator would require around 10% of those amounts.
  • Imagine the huge amount of emissions required to build and install 2900 wind generators!
