1669 - Mount Etna in Sicily erupted destroying Nicolosi. 20,000 people were killed.


1900 - The U.S. Socialist Party was formed in Indianapolis.


1901 - The Mercedes was introduced by Daimler at the five-day "Week of Nice" in Nice, France.


1911 - In New York City, 146 women were killed in fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Company in New York City. The owners of the company were indicted on manslaughter charges because some of the employees had been behind locked doors in the factory. The owners were later acquitted and in 1914 they were ordered to pay damages to each of the twenty-three families that had sued.


1954 - RCA manufactured its first color TV set and began mass production.


1971 - The Boston Patriots became the New England Patriots.

"...Here’s the latest chapter in scary school silliness.
In deep southern Illinois this week, Kristy Jackson went to pick up her four-year-old son Hunter from pre-school. She was greeted by an extremely unhappy teacher who said the little boy had brought to school a dangerous “shotgun bullet.”
Never mind there’s no such thing. Jackson was shocked, but also puzzled because her son had just spent a bonding afternoon learning the beginnings of gun safety from his grandfather, a police officer.
The stern teacher led Hunter’s Mom to the principal’s office.
There, she was handed the evidence that had condemned her son, a tiny empty .22 shell casing.
According to Jackson’s reasoned account on Facebook, she was also silently handed a piece of paper.
It explained that Hunter’s behavior warranted a sentence of a seven-day suspension from school. 
“I still was expected to pay tuition, of course. And a threat that if his enthusiasm for guns continued, he’d be permanently expelled.”...

Once again “Progressive” Canadians are calling out other Canadians for not being appropriately accommodating, tolerant, and inclusive of Islam as they, the self-appointed righteous ones.
The Muslim students also wanted the right to pray not only on Fridays, but every day of the week, if it is convenient for them.
Student Shahmir Durrani explained “’The board should not be policing religion’ and that the policy is unjust because it specifically targets Islam.”
Well, he’s right.
The board is targeting Islam because only Islam has had the audacity to demand that their religion, ...be allowed in the public sphere while Christianity which was part of the secular curriculum has been removed.
...“On Fridays, the noon congregational prayer (Jummah) substitutes for the regular noon prayer, and it includes the Khutba, or the Friday sermon, by the imam (religious leader) who gives the congregants guidance in Islamic teachings.
The purpose of the prayer is to demonstrate a total submission to Allah and a commitment to follow his path unconditionally.
This mandatory prayer attacks all Christians and Jews.

Cook County, Ill., where Chicago is the county seat, had the largest population loss of any county in the country from 2015 and 2016.

...Even while it was experiencing the largest net population loss of any county in the country, Cook Count was seeing an influx of migrants from foreign countries and more births than deaths.

...Wayne County, where Detroit is the county seat, had the second largest population loss of any county in the nation; and Baltimore, Md., an independent city that the Census Bureau counts as a county, had the third largest population loss.

"A teenage boy was told by school leaders that he had to “tolerate” undressing in front of a female student and to make it as “natural” as possible, according to a blockbuster lawsuit filed in a Pennsylvania federal district court.
...Last Fall, the teen boy was standing in his underwear inside a locker room at Boyertown Area High School preparing to change for a physical education class.
“He suddenly realized there was a member of the opposite sex changing with him in the locker room, who was at the time, wearing nothing but shorts and a bra,” the lawsuit states.
The boy, along with several of his classmates reported the incident to Assistant Principal, named as a defendant.
“Dr. Foley indicated that the legality was up in the air but that students who mentally identify themselves with the opposite sex could choose the locker room and bathroom to use, and physical sex did not matter,” the lawsuit states.
The teenage boy asked the assistant principal if there was anything that could be done to protect him from the situation.
“Dr. Foley told Joel Doe to ‘tolerate’ it and to make it as ‘natural’ as he possibly can,” the lawsuit states..."
