"The Czech Republic last week joined other Central European nations in withdrawing from the European Union’s 2015 migrant resettlement program. The program sought to resettle 160,000 refugees across EU states, but the C.R. is bailing over the "dysfunctionality" of the program, Gateway Pundit reports."

Yup, everything they control is a financial disaster-----Michigan Universities Also Socked by Massively Underfunded School Pensions [Michigan Capitol Confidential]

Michigan Universities Also Socked by Massively Underfunded School Pensions [Michigan Capitol Confidential]:
"Michigan’s public school districts are not the only educational institutions grappling with the financial burdens of a massively underfunded pension system.
Seven of the state’s 15 public universities are also having to pay large sums to catch up on the public school system’s debt, which since just 2009 has risen from $12.0 billion to $29.1 billion.
The schools are paying these costs even though no new university employees have been enrolled in the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System since 1995.
Image result for Pension TsunamiBut all those who were hired before then remained in the pension system and continue to accrue pension credits from it.
...According to Michigan Technological University Vice President Ellen Horsch, roughly 250 of MTU’s current 1,300 employees are covered by the traditional pension system.
Michigan Tech spent an average of $28,607 for each employee in MPSERS, of which $17,513 goes towards the underfunding in the system between July 1, 2014, and June 30, 2016, according to data provided by the university.
“The fact that we got out of this system is helpful, because we have that light at the end of the tunnel in 2038 [when MTU’s unfunded liabilities are projected to be met],” Horsch added.
But she also said that MTU and the other universities in the system still need financial relief from the burdens it imposes..."

Corruption and Collusion: Obama, Comey, and the Press | Klavan On The Culture:

Image result for flickr commons images Obama"It now seems clear that Barack Obama was a corrupt machine politician in the worst Chicago mold. He used the IRS to silence his enemies, and the Justice Department to protect his friends. His two major "achievements" — a health care law that doesn't work and a deal that increased the power and prestige of the terrorist state of Iran — were built on lies to the public and manipulation of the press. And that's according to his own allies! Only the leftist bias and racial pathology of the media kept his administration from being destroyed by scandal, as it surely would have been had he been a white Republican.

I don't mention this to bring up old grudges, but for what it says about the current moment and the week just passed. Here's some of what we recently learned:"

Large Anti-Sharia Rallies at San Bernardino Terror Site, LAX - Breitbart:

"Protest rallies sponsored by ACT for America — Bridgette Gabriel’s anti-jihadist group — were held nationwide.

Image result for flickr commons images QuaranAs the Los Angeles Times noted, a diverse group of over 500 demonstrators gathered at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino to protest what they described as the spread of sharia law in the United States.

They were met by smaller groups of counter-demonstrators, many from so-called “Antifa” groups. San Bernardino Police Officers handled security without any major incidents, except a few scuffles on the Anitfa side.

The San Bernardino protest was organized by Latinos for Trump co-founders Marco Gutierrez and Denise Ruiz.

Marco, who grew up in Mexico, became a US citizen in 2003, married his high school sweetheart in California, and founded Latinos For Trump in 2016."

"The New York Times is uncertain whether to break out the champagne or don the sackcloth and ashes over Jeremy Corbyn's electoral gains.
Ordinarily "progressives" would be celebrating a success by Labor.
Unfortunately the British Labor party no longer clearly represents the "working class" any more, so it's hard to keep score.
Image result for democrats election nightIt's as if someone tore up the program to an old familiar play and scrambled the characters onstage.
Consequently the Gray Lady is unable to say with confidence Who's on First.
...Just how confusing things have become was shown by Van Jones, who speaking at the People's Summit in Chicago, denounced Hillary Clinton for wasting a billion dollars on a big nothing-burger of an election campaign.
The Hill recounted Jones' tirade.
"The Hillary Clinton campaign did not spend their money on white workers, and they did not spend it on people of color. They spent it on themselves," Jones told a packed house at McCormick Place in Chicago. "They spent it on themselves, let's be honest."
"Let's be honest," Jones continued. "They took a billion dollars, a billion dollars, a billion dollars, and set it on fire, and called it a campaign!"...
How could a billion dollars worth of consultants and polling be wrong?
How could the old certainties so radically collapse?
Max Fisher and Max Taub of the NYT, baffled, conclude that uncertainty, more than populism, is the new normal in Western politics.
But merely declaring that "leaders must now govern societies reshaped by forces that are barely understood" explains nothing."

Murray: postmodernism, Trump to blame for left's campus anger
  • Murray says he is identified as a "person of the right" on campus, which allows students to transfer their anti-Trump anger onto him.
Charles Murray spoke about the causes of the recent rise of violent mob protesters during a speech delivered at an Intellectual Takeout gala late last week.
Earlier this year, Middlebury students hijacked Murray’s planned speech by using mob rule, followed him outside of the building to attack his getaway car, and at least one person, Professor Allison Stanger, ended up in the hospital with a concussion.
...He lamented that what happened at Middlebury wasn’t an isolated incident and that those types of protests have begun to spread, not just at his own lectures, but at other speeches, too.
“What is going on there?he inquired.
Murray theorized that there are two major causes of the recent campus hysteria, “both a proximate reason, and a deeper reason” —
Image result for Angry College Professor mussle
  • the election of Donald Trump, and
  • the tide of postmodernism throughout academe.
"The election of Donald Trump aroused a great deal of anger throughout the left, and especially in academia,” said Murray.
"If I'm on campus, I'm the way that [students’] anger against Trump's election could be vented,” he said, noting that he “did not run into that kind of protest right up until the election...”

But not before a hearing laced with comedy and profanity.
Representatives from some of the groups planning large-scale protests during the DNC this month said the ordinance was unnecessary and accused city officials of fear mongering.
"The intent of this ordinance is to try to smear protesters and make them look as if they are somehow criminal or somehow going to engage in some kind of gross conduct," said Glenn Spagnuolo, an organizer with the Re- create 68 Alliance.
The ordinance makes it illegal to carry certain items, such as chains, padlocks, carabiners and other locking devices.
It also prohibits the possession of noxious substances.
Two of the most frequently used examples of a noxious substance are a bucket of urine and a "feces bomb..."

Image result for Deep State"In my Sunday column I wrote of the similarity of the Comey - Mueller investigation of purported "Russian collusion" with the Trump campaign to the confected search for who leaked Valerie Plame's name.
This was a scheme against Vice President Cheney that ended in the conviction of his aide, Lewis Libby, for a weakly-proven process crime.
I had missed that Comey and Mueller may well have honed their deep state purge of political opponents then, something clearly at the bottom of this nonsensical investigation into "Russian collusion" with the Trump campaign.
According to Michael Isikoff, writing in 2006, the FBI (then headed by Mueller) and an unnamed "senior Department of Justice official" were advised in October 2003 that Armitage was the man who leaked Plame's identity -- and yet two months later upon his appointment to be Deputy Attorney General, James Comey appointed his friend Patrick  Fitzgerald to investigate the leak.
It's hard to believe that he didn't at the time know full well who the leaker had been..."

No bias? Trump isn't "fixing" EVERY lib dream at once?-----Trump Backs Paid Leave For New Parents, But Ignores Those Caring For The Elderly

Trump Backs Paid Leave For New Parents, But Ignores Those Caring For The Elderly:
"The Trump Administration believes that caring for babies is so important that employers should give their parents up to six weeks of paid leave.
Image result for never satisfiedIt apparently doesn’t believe it is as important, or as disruptive to work life, to care for aging parents or other relatives in need of personal assistance.
That, at least, is the message it is sending in Trump’s 2018 budget.
In a fiscal plan otherwise filled with cuts to government-funded social supports, the president proposed allowing states to use their unemployment insurance systems to fund paid family leave.  The U.S. is the only developed country in the world without a paid leave program.
But if we are going to recognize the need to give workers time off to tend to the needs of their families, why limit that support to parents of new-borns or new adoptees?..."

Why Trump Wins: Will Robert Mueller investigate intelligence agencies for playing in domestic politics?
Image result for trump winsThe FBI, CIA and NSA are eager to pose as scrupulous, disinterested arbiters of Russian meddling. They are not eager to be seen as victims and patsies of Russian meddling. To use Mr. Comey’s phrase, the performance of our national intelligence directorate is the one rock that hasn’t been turned over.

So here’s a question for Special Counsel Robert Mueller, a former FBI chief himself. Will he accept the current framing that his Russia investigation is about everything except whether his former agency was semi-wittingly duped into some of its interventions by Kremlin danglings—there’s nothing to see here, move along.

Or will he have the courage to ask the requisite questions the FBI, CIA and NSA don’t want asked about their own, perhaps, gullibility and overeagerness to play in domestic politics because of their dislike of Mr. Trump?

Washington’s desire to get to the bottom of Russian meddling is probably less than you imagine. If not, the places to start are the Trump dossier and the role of Russian disinformation in promoting Mr. Comey’s intervention in the Hillary Clinton email matter.
I don’t think Mueller can be objective here.
He should resign — or be replaced by someone without his conflicts of interest."
