'Diversity Educators' Suffer From B | The Daily Caller:
"So-called “Diversity Educators” are suffering from burnout due to the “emotional weight” of their jobs, according to a recent academic journal article published this week in the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice. The study, written by University of North Carolina-Charlotte professor Ryan Miller and six colleagues from the University of North Texas, interviewed seven interviewed diversity educators from a “predominantly white research institution” who claim that they suffer from “compassion fatigue,” “burnout,” and “racial battle fatigue” in their efforts to combat microaggressions on campus..."

There is a strong and justifiable suspicion that the dossier was the critical bit of evidence that persuaded the FISA Court to reverse itself and permit monitoring of American associates of Donald Trump.
The dossier was originally begun as an opposition research project for Republican rivals of Trump, then funded by Democrats, and allegedly finally funded by the FBI.
We already know that some of the wild accusations in it were demonstrably false.
The House Intelligence Committee long has been looking into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, and so far, it has come up with nothing.
As in zero specific evidence.
This was admitted by no less than Rep. Jackie Spier, a veteran Democrat member of the House of Representatives.
It is obviously worth investigating, then, how that dossier came to be created in the first place, and how it was used by various organs of the United States government, if there is interest in getting to the truth behind Russia's attempts to affect our elections.
Yet the FBI is refusing to hand over documents that have been subpoenaed by the House..."
Detroit firefighter fired for bringing watermelon to station - Story | WJBK: "DETROIT (WJBK) - Earlier this month, 41-year-old Robert Pattison went to introduce himself to his fellow firefighters at Engine 55 at Joy and Southfield in Detroit. Second Battallion Chief Shawn McCarty calls it a tradition for firefighters. "It's not mandatory, it's voluntary," he says. "You come in bearing gifts. The usual gift is doughnuts, but you are allowed to bring whatever you want to bring in."
And Pattison, a probationary firefighter, decided to bring a watermelon wrapped in a pink ribbon. We're told some African-American firefighters were instantly offended, since 90 percent of the people who work at Engine 55 are black.
...In a statement Jones says: "There is zero tolerance for discriminatory behavior inside the Detroit Fire Department. On Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Engine 55, a trial firefighter (probationary employee) engaged in unsatisfactory work behavior which was deemed offensive and racially insensitive to members of the Detroit Fire Department.
"After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the best course of action was to terminate the employment of this probationary employee."... Read on!

Michigan student performance lagging, but public unaware of trend | MLive.com
"Michigan voters support their local public school's performance but are split on whether the state's education system as a whole is doing an effective job, according to survey of likely voters conducted for Business Leaders for Michigan. The survey found that 64.5 percent of respondents strongly approve of the job their local public school is doing.
However, respondents were split - by a margin of 47 percent to 43.1 percent - on the performance of Michigan's school system as a whole.
..."Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be widespread public awareness that Michigan student performance lags that of other states resulting in three-fourths of our students graduating high school unprepared to enter the workforce or to continue their education."
According to results from the 2015 National Assessment of Educational Progress, which is given to a sample of students in each state, Michigan ranked 41st in the nation in fourth-grade reading and 37th in eighth grade math.
That's down from where the state ranked more than a decade ago..."
"In one of the fieriest speeches directed at Israel by Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, he called for the ethnic cleansing of all Jews in Israel, the destruction of the Jewish state and told Israelis to begin a “count down to death.”
The speech echoed recent rhetoric recently by the Iranian regime and its military officials, who said Tel Aviv would be “destroyed” if Israel made “a mistake,” and that Israel would not survive for more than 25 years.
“Israel should remain silent and count down the days to its death, because any minor mistake would lead to its demise as fast as lightning,” said Iranian army commander Maj.-Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi."
Knowingly exposing others to HIV will no longer be a felony in California - LA Times:

Ban Gas-Powered Cars? California Is Thinking About It | Power Line "It isn’t enough for California to contemplate its own state-run single payer health care system that would require, at a minimum, tripling the state budget. Now a lawmaker wants to have the state ban gasoline-powered cars by the year 2040. I certainly hope California follows through and tries this. If nothing else, it will provide wonderful black market opportunities. Think of all the meth labs that will convert to mini-refineries, not to mention the smuggling. It is doubtful we can legally confiscate existing cars, so look for California’s rolling stock to become the equivalent of all those 57 Chevys and Buicks we see on the streets of Havana.
Such a scheme assumes widespread availability of electric cars...
...Chaser, from Holman Jenkins’s column yesterday in the Wall Street Journal:
Fiat admits to losing $20,000 on every electric vehicle it sells in Europe. General Motors loses $9,000 on every Chevy Bolt. Even Tesla is partly sustained by selling zero-emissions credits to conventional car companies that actually make money (unlike Tesla).
Second Amendment & Armed Citizenry vs. Government Force: Historical Precedents | National Review "History shows that an armed citizenry can, in fact, challenge a government it sees as unjust. ...it falls to me to take on the assertion, made in the New York Times by Michael Schermer, that guns in the hands of citizens aren’t a bulwark against tyranny. But, of course, they are. ...Schermer writes: "Gun-rights advocates also make the grandiose claim that gun ownership is a deterrent against tyrannical governments. ...If you think stock piling firearms from the local Guns and Guitars store, where the Las Vegas shooter purchased some of his many weapons, and dressing up in camouflage and body armor is going to protect you from an American military capable of delivering tanks and armored vehicles full of Navy SEALs to your door, you’re delusional." ...But, Schermer has avoided the real argument. The “defense against tyranny” claim does not hold that any one individual, or a tiny group, can defend any claim against the government with the force of arms. And, of course, equal firepower was never the issue. Even in the 1770s, an American government could raise a larger and better-outfitted force than what was present at Ruby Ridge or Waco Texas. Civil society and good lawyers are all the defense you need against a non-tyrannical government. But a tyranny, an invader, or a pretender-government are more effectively resisted with guns. Sometimes people put Schermer’s argument more baldly. They ask something like this: “Do you really think Bubba in camo gear hiding in the forest is going to take on the U.S. military? The U.S. military has nuclear weapons!” Who exactly do you think has stymied the U.S. in Afghanistan for 16 years? The Taliban is made up of Afghan Bubbas... ...The British Empire controlled one quarter of the world’s territory and ruled one quarter of the earth’s population in 1922. In that very year, they were forced to make an effective exit from the main part of their oldest colony, Ireland. ...With just the moral support of the society they are living in, and a number of rifles, a small group of men can make it impossible for tyrants to rule."
Episode 12,“Monster Power,” teaches kids that a monster will eat them if they don’t use alternative clean energy sources. Albert, one of the students, has seen a movie in which the evil monster loves pollution and is “coming for us next for what we’ve done to this planet!” With the class camping in the woods, Miss Frizzle and the other students help him come up with clean energy alternatives (wind, water, etc) so they won’t be eaten.

CDC Reports Rise in Obesity Related Cancers | PerfScience:
"Obesity-related cancers have witnessed a spike in the United States in the recent years as per the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report.

The overall cancer rate has declined across the United States.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer associates 13 cancers with overweight and obesity. As obesity rate has been rising in the United States and other regions across the world, health experts have witnessed a rise in cancer rate.
