"Are the manufacturers going to be compelled by the government to turn over lists of customers who legally acquired [products] that were declared by the regulatory authority to be legal? This could set the precedent for a gun grab if you're retroactively banning these things."

Current owners of newly prohibited accessories could go to prison for keeping them.

Vincent La Iacona Doesn't it violate the ex post facto clause of the Constitution? They can ban the manufacture perhaps (only because the courts set the precedent with regards to the 2nd Amendment). But banning an item obtained legally would be a different violation.

Jennifer Jurado It should in theory. I see the Constitution being stepped on a lot lately.

Dan Bongard No, it doesn't. The ex post facto issue arises when you are charged with something that wasn't a crime when you did it.

Charging someone with *having bought* a bump-stock would violate ex post facto. Charging them with posession wouldn't, because they
still possess the bump stock now.

The law SHOULD violate the 10th amendment, since Congress has no Constitutional authority to ban sale of anything... but that ship sailed long ago.

Interest in sexual harassment was suppressed to protect Bill Clinton: Is that part of why Harvey Weinstein got away with his abuses?
"...But in 1998, when the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, Democrats reversed the message.
In the biggest sellout of feminism I've seen in my lifetime, sexual harassment turned into just sex, and those who wanted to take it seriously were derided as prigs.
Image result for bill clinton womenNow, I'm reading the NYT article "Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Others Say Weinstein Harassed Them/'This way of treating women ends now,' Ms. Paltrow said as she and other actresses accused the producer of casting-couch abuses," and I'm wondering why only now?
Why not earlier?
What stood in your way?
My hypothesis is that liberals — including nearly everyone in the entertainment business — suppressed concern about sexual harassment to help Bill Clinton.
Giving him cover gave cover to other powerful men, and the cause of women's equality in the workplace was set back 20 years.
...Are these allegations coming out now because Hillary Clinton lost the election and the time for covering for Bill Clinton is over at long last?"

One in four government workers makes $100K thanks to overtime | New York Post:
"One out of every four New York City government workers pulled in pay of more than $100,000 last year — thanks largely to overtime, according to a new study.
Image result for city employees“New York City can be a hub of opportunity, and not just for aspiring Broadway stars. All sorts of city workers earn big bucks,” said Adam Andrzejewski, CEO of the government watchdog OpenTheBooks.com, which conducted the study.
About 37,000 of 295,455 full-time city workers receive a salary that tops $100,000.
But the number jumps to 76,166 when factoring in overtime and other extra pay, the group said.
The supplemental pay accounts for 12 percent of the workers’ total compensation, or more than three times the 3.5 percent rate in the private sector, according to the study.
Some career choices proved particularly lucrative.
Of the 775 school custodians, 694 cleared $100,000 or more.
And of those 694, 398 exceeded $150,000..."

I’m referring to the strange case of Imran Awan, the IT aide Rep. The Right to Bear Arms

By Tammy Derouin

Whenever a tragedy strikes there is always deep sadness for those who were affected and sympathy for those who lost loved ones. We wonder why? Why does an individual act out violently? Was there an agenda or did they snap? Facts need to be gathered and the truth, the whole truth, needs to be exposed. There is usually more to the story than what is on the surface.

Image result for Second 2nd AmendmentEvery time there is a tragedy the rights and freedoms of law abiding citizens become the target of those who believe the government knows best. That's not working out so well in Chicago, Baltimore or other locations where strict gun laws are in place. Do you want to live in a society where only criminals and the government have weapons?

It's the darnedest thing; history keeps telling the truth. Take a look back. Look what happens to the population when the government becomes too powerful. A dictator is put in place, guns are confiscated, a group of people become the scapegoat for all of society's problems and then people begin to die at the hand of their own government.

The founders knew what they were doing, which is why the right to bear arms landed in the number two spot in the Bill of Rights. Look what is happening in our country, the land of the supposed free. Our First Amendment rights have been under attack for years. The facts don't lie and they tell a very concerning story. Our freedom is disappearing.......

Refugee reality: Germany admits 75% face long-term unemployment | World | News | Express.co.uk
"THREE quarters of Germany’s refugees will be long-term unemployed and claiming benefits for years, it was admitted today.
MigrantsAydan Özoğuz, commissioner for immigration, refugees and integration, told the Financial Times that only a quarter to a third of the newcomers would enter the labour market over the next five years, and “for many others we will need up to 10”.
The Institute for Employment Research (IAB) found only 45 per cent of Syrian refugees in Germany have a school-leaving certificate and 23 per cent a college degree.
Statistics from the Federal Labour Agency show the employment rate among refugees stands at just 17 per cent.
Figures show 75 per cent of German migrants face long-term unemployment..."

The financial collapse of Illinois is accelerating

The financial collapse of Illinois is accelerating:
"John O'Connor of the AP has just broken the news that the unpaid bills of the Great State of Illinois have reached the awe-inspiring sum of $16.5 billion.
Image result for financial collapse of IllinoisIllinois is chasing a moving target as it tries to dig out of the nation's worst budget crisis, and a review obtained by The Associated Press shows $7.5 billion worth of unpaid bills – as much as half the total – hadn't been sent to the official who writes the checks by the end of June.
Although many of those IOUs have since been paid, a similar amount in unprocessed bills has replaced them in the last three months, Comptroller Susana Mendoza's office said Monday.
That's in addition to $9 billion worth of checks that are at the office but being delayed because the state lacks the money to pay them.
Various bureaucratic tricks are being performed to slow down payment, but they all amount to stiffing the vendors, borrowing their capital at no immediate cost..."

The Scattering Rats, Phony Denials and Smearing The Victims

Facebook:
"The Scattering Rats, Phony Denials and Smearing The Victims
...We all knew that Hollywood’s virtue-signaling was a façade.
That’s not a surprise at all.
But what’s shocking is how quickly the façade crumbled away and we got to see the true face of our so-called social betters.
With the exposure of Harvey Weinstein’s truly despicable deeds, the response from these “courageous” celebrities falls into two categories...
There are the scattering rats fleeing the sinking SS Weinstein while issuing phony denials.
And then there are the opportunistic parasites who are smearing Weinstein’s victims.
Neither is noble or “courageous.” But neither is a surprise either.
Many of the same celebrities who accused Betsy DeVos of shielding and excusing rapists when she restored due-process rights to college campuses are now shielding and excusing the rapist in their midst.http://reason.com/blog/2017/07/18/betsy-devos-isnt-enabling-rape-deniers-b
...In the end, their goal is always the same: doing what benefits them.
And there’s no better example of this than their idol Hillary Rodham Clinton.
When Bill’s victim’s threatened her advancement, they were fair game.
...And here's the irony... Weinstein Was A Donor To Bill Clinton’s Legal Defense Fund In Sex Assault Case

Home Depot Panics Over Millennials; Forced To Host Tutorials On Using Tape Measures, Hammering Nails | Zero Hedge

Home Depot Panics Over Millennials; Forced To Host Tutorials On Using Tape Measures, Hammering Nails | Zero Hedge:
"As wall street analysts celebrate the coming of age of the millennial generation, a group of young people who were supposed to lead another revolutionary wave of consumerism if only they could work long enough to escape their parents' basement, retailers like Home Depot are panicked about selling into what will soon be America's largest demographic...but not for the reasons you might think.
...Home Depot is in full-on panic mode after realizing that an entire generation of Americans have absolutely no clue how to use their products.
As the Wall Street Journal points out, the company has been forced to spend millions to create video tutorials and host in-store classes on how to do everything from using a tape measure to mopping a floor and hammering a nail.
Home Depot's VP of marketing admits she was originally hesitant because she thought some of their videos might be a bit too "condescending" but she quickly learned they were very necessary for our pampered millennials.
In June the company introduced a series of online workshops, including videos on how to use a tape measure and how to hide cords, that were so basic some executives worried they were condescending. “You have to start somewhere,” Mr. Decker says.

Lisa DeStefano, Home Depot vice president of marketing, initially hesitated looking over the list of proposed video lessons, chosen based on high-frequency online search queries. Were we selling people short? Were these just too obvious?” she says she asked her team. On the tape-measure tutorial, “I said ‘come on, how many things can you say about it?’ ” Ms. DeStefano says.
And just in case you think we're joking and/or exaggerating, here is Home Depot's tape measure tutorial in all its glory:
