Colleges bend the rules for more students, give them extra help
"As many as 1 in 4 students at some elite U.S. colleges are now classified as disabled, largely because of mental-health issues, entitling them to a widening array of special accommodations like longer time to take exams.
Under federal law, students can be considered disabled if they have a note from a doctor. 

That label requires schools to offer accommodations depending on the student’s needs. 
A blind student, for example, would have access to specialized software or a reader for an exam.
The rise in disabilities for mental-health issues such as depression and anxiety has led to a surge in the number of students who take their exams in low-distraction testing centers, are allowed to get up and walk around during class or bring a comfort animal to school, among other measures.
...At Pomona, 22% of students were considered disabled this year, up from 5% in 2014. 
Other elite schools have also seen a startling jump in disabilities...
The most common accommodations come during testing. 
Students who receive extended time may get twice as long as their classmates to take an exam..."

The restaurant’s (now-defunct) Facebook page was flooded with complaints from patrons angry at its slow service. 
Patrons hungry for a sandwich would find the café shuttered at odd times, thanks to opening hours set by employee group decision.

Sorely vexed.
Our European partners feel that Trump “delight[s] in smashing transatlantic bonds.”
The situation is so dire that, according to Josef Janning of the European Council on Foreign Relations, the post-World War ties that provided the basis for Western strength and peace for 70-plus years are probably gone forever.
...But what actual policies and controversies support this European pessimism? 
The Post’s article, by Griff Witte and Michael Birnbaum, cites three.

• First, and apparently foremost, is Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. 
• Second, Witte and Birnbaum point to “the bloodshed in the Gaza strip,” referring to it as a “Trump-ignited brushfire.”

...By treating these two decisions by the Trump administration as serious affronts to the transatlantic alliance, Europe’s leaders seek, in effect, a veto over American foreign policy decisions that don’t directly affect Europe. 
If that’s their demand, then the Post is right; the alliance isn’t viable.
But that’s not President Trump’s fault. Blame it on European overreach — and arrogance...

The Voluntary Retired Return to Active Duty program is being expanded to all pilots and maximum tour lengths are being more than doubled to help ease a serious shortage of qualified aviators, Air Force officials said.

During the 60's they looked for anything other than Christianity or Judaism because those two told them things about themselves and their actions they didn't want to hear.
 These forbade them to do the the things they wanted to do..
So, folks on the left have landed on a toxic mixture of statism, politics, mysticism and atheism rolled up into a loose ball called as "progressivism" as a substitute for Judeo-Christian theology. Progressivism is as much a religion as Catholicism, it just replaces a Pope with government, counting on the senior leadership of the Democrat party to be their High Priests.
...Progressives find pleasure in their self-inflicted pain but really enjoy dosing it out to non-progressives as well.
The problem is that no one knows the rules of this new religion because they change to fit the need of the moment. 
What you can say or think and who you can say or think it about changes every minute and what was acceptable yesterday is not acceptable today.
You can be right and wrong at the same time..."

"Editor’s Note: Outstanding student debt reached $1.521 trillion in the first quarter of 2018.

Rising college tuition and meritless loaning practices by the federal government has led to a massive increase in the number of student borrowers with super-sized student debt.

There are 101 borrowers who owe at least $1 million in federal student, a 621-percent increase from just five years ago when 14 borrowers owed that much, according to Department of Education data obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

Orthodontist Mike Meru, 37, is one of those borrowers. 

...After 25 years, Meru’s remaining balance will be forgiven at taxpayers’ expense.

...The federal government divvies out billions of dollars in loans to students without considering a student’s chosen area of study or their ability to pay back the loan, leading to high rates of default. (RELATED: Students Pursuing Risky Degrees Draw Over $25 Billion In Yearly Federal Loans)

The Department of Education loaned $25.9 billion in 2016 alone to students who chose degrees under the umbrella of the liberal arts and humanities, majors that have higher rates of default than business, vocational and STEM majors, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
