18 Most Mortifying Media Moments of 2018 :: Grabien News
"In the second year of the Trump Administration, the media went all in.
This was the year when reporters, in the race to claim a scalp, began loosening the usual boundaries governing journalism.
It was the year “corroborating evidence” became the most hotly contested term in America,
...Whatever Trump was for, the media came out against.
...There was so much, in fact, that we had expand our normal custom of compiling the “Top 10 Most Mortifying Media Moments” and expand it to a more befitting “Top 18.”
So now, without any further ado, here are the 18 most mortifying media moments from 2018..."

Deer Are a Menace and We Need to Kill a Lot More of Them | RealClearScience

Deer Are a Menace and We Need to Kill a Lot More of Them | RealClearScience:
"In 2017, the total deer population in the United States was an estimated 33.5 million, down from 38.1 million in 2000.
Image result for deer car accidentsHunters should rejoice over their excellent shooting, and then get outside and kill millions more.
This macabre call to arms might unsettle anyone whose heart ached at viewing the plight of poor Bambi, but it's a prescription that's sorely needed, for at their current population, deer are ravaging ecosystems across the country.
This wasn't the case in the very early 1900s.
Then, after decades of wanton hunting, there may have been as few as 300,000 deer left roaming the wilds of America..."

'They Shall Not Grow Old': Peter Jackson's Masterpiece War Memorial | Rule of Law
"Our war memorials are usually made of brass or stone.
But Peter Jackson’s astonishing new film They Shall Not Grow Old is a war memorial for the big screen.
Jackson’s film has done the impossible:
He has created a time machine.
Jackson was given access to the sound and video archives of the Imperial War Museum and tasked with producing a documentary about World War I in time for the centenary commemoration of the armistice on November 11, 2018. (Link to trailer here.)
After playing to sold-out theaters across the United Kingdom in October, the film will show just one more day in the United States – December 27.
December 17, the only day the film has shown so far in the United States, saw packed theaters.
Jackson’s film portrays the World War I soldier as you have never seen him: in color, in high definition, and with sound.
They Shall Not Grow Old painstakingly cleans up the old jerky films of the Great War.
It removes the blemishes, turns them into clean high definition, and colorizes them with thorough, painstaking accuracy.
The film speed is even reset to natural motion, so no more unnatural gaits.
Jackson’s technical wizardry turns the landscapes of France into something vivid, expansive, and apocalyptic.
But it’s the faces of the young soldiers that will haunt you..."

The House on Thursday passed a stopgap funding bill that would keep the federal government running into early February and give President Trump the additional money he’s seeking for security along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The House voted 217-185, largely along party lines, to pass the bill.
“We have a president who ran on this issue,” said House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. “This is about getting back to rule of law. This is about keeping America safe.”

Reporter who broke news of Steele dossier used to surveil ex-Trump aide calls its claims largely 'false' | Fox News:

Image result for Christopher SteeleThe salacious and unverified opposition research dossier cited by the FBI as its main justification to surveil a top Trump aide contains many claims that are "likely false," according to the Yahoo News reporter who was among the first to break the news of the dossier's existence.
Michael Isikoff's statements on John Ziegler's Free Speech Broadcasting podcast came a day before Michael Cohen adviser Lanny Davis reiterated that Cohen has never been to Prague -- where, according to the dossier, he traveled to arrange a payment to Russian hackers during the 2016 presidential campaign.
The dossier was created by British ex-spy Christopher Steele and funded by the firm Fusion GPS -- which was retained by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

How the Liberal Press Shapes the News | Power Line
"We have been writing for years about how the liberal press drives narratives that proceed from its own political preferences, and then reports on those narratives as though they were news.
It has gotten to the point where what passes for news reporting is mostly spin and opinion, liberally laced with anonymous leaks.
This article describes the process as it relates to reporting on Elizabeth Warren.
What makes it entertaining is that it appears in Rolling Stone
Copious links are omitted:
Image result for liberal media
The headline in the New York Times reads: “Sanders and Warren Meet and Agree: They Both Are Probably Running.”
***
The gist of the new Times piece is that the Warren and Sanders, if they do run, “will not enjoy an easy path to the nomination.” Both are described as having political vulnerabilities that will force them to face questions or “concerns.” (This is code for, “they’ll get beat up by the media.”)
It’s way too early for this nonsense.
We’re 23 months away from Election Day. … In December 2014, news that Jeb Bush would “actively explore” a run for president put “the onus on all the other GOP candidates to get their ducks in a row — in a hurry,” according to the Washington Post. Bush ended up with three delegates, beaten soundly by one of the last candidates to declare.
When Donald Trump appeared on the board for British odds makers in early 2016, he was a 339-1 bet. George Clooney, meanwhile was a 53-1 bet heading into 2015.
Heh.
...Now comes the good part:
Common phrases used to camouflage invented narratives include “whispers abound,” “questions linger” and today’s golden oldie from the Times, “concerns” (as in, the prospect of Warren and Sanders running has “stirred concerns”)...
What’s funny about the Rolling Stone piece is that the author is a leftist who is annoyed that the liberal press deems Warren and Sanders losers, and is trying to block them from getting the Democratic Party nomination.
It may not have occurred to him that one could write a 1,000-page treatise on how the press has tried to destroy the Trump administration by “reporting” on its own “concerns” about that administration, to the exclusion of pretty much everything else."

Secret Experiment in Alabama Senate Race Imitated Russian Tactics - The New York Times
Image result for democrat dirty tricks"As Russia’s online election machinations came to light last year, a group of Democratic tech experts decided to try out similarly deceptive tactics in the fiercely contested Alabama Senate race, according to people familiar with the effort and a report on its results.
The secret project, carried out on Facebook and Twitter, was likely too small to have a significant effect on the race, in which the Democratic candidate it was designed to help, Doug Jones, edged out the Republican, Roy S. Moore.
...The project’s operators created a Facebook page on which they posed as conservative Alabamians, using it to try to divide Republicans and even to endorse a write-in candidate to draw votes from Mr. Moore.
It involved a scheme to link the Moore campaign to thousands of Russian accounts that suddenly began following the Republican candidate on Twitter, a development that drew national media attention..."

A government shutdown never hurts a damn soul, and every year at this time, “The government might shut down! It might shut down! It might shut down!” Trump should not sign this bill and leave for Mar-a-Lago, and tell them it’s not gonna get signed and their precious government’s not gonna get back up and running ’til there’s $5 billion. What are they gonna do? Impeach him? Huh?

"The actress recollected Moonves saying: “Be my girlfriend and I’ll put you on any show.”

...Saturday, April 28, 2018, was Marv Dauer’s 75th birthday.

After more than three decades as a Hollywood talent manager, Dauer, tanned and silver-haired, had the aura of success, but in reality, his client list had dwindled to a few B-list actors.
Casting directors ignored his emails. His finances were precarious. He had nearly lost his home to foreclosure.
But now Dauer had coaxed to his party someone who could change all that.
More than 100 friends, sports figures, casting directors, actors, golf and bridge partners had gathered to celebrate at a friend’s Los Angeles home.
Then, about 8 pm, a star arrived: Leslie Moonves, the chief executive of CBS and one of Hollywood’s most powerful people.
Moonves’ presence sent a powerful message: Marv Dauer was back.
Moonves had never attended Dauer’s previous parties.
So what was he doing there?..."

It's Beginning to Look Like Mueller Has Been Destroying Evidence

It's Beginning to Look Like Mueller Has Been Destroying Evidence:

Image result for flickr commons images Michael FlynnWithout going into a full account of what happened there, what’s important is that when Flynn’s sentencing documents were released, the date on the 302 document was Aug. 22, 2017, according to a column posted by The Federalist last week by senior contributor Margot Cleveland. That’s nearly seven whole months after the interview happened.
This is important for two reasons, both having to do with testimony by former FBI Director James Comey. The first is that during the interview, according to the testimony by Comey while he was still with the FBI, the agents thought that they “saw nothing that led them to believe (Flynn was) lying.” The second is that Comey says that he’s actually seen the 302 or talked with someone who has.

Hall of shame: Advertisers sign up for boycott of Tucker Carlson for telling the truth on illegal immigration

Hall of shame: Advertisers sign up for boycott of Tucker Carlson for telling the truth on illegal immigration
"Tucker Carlson has been peerless in his coverage of the issues raised by the caravan of Central Americans that announced its plan to storm the border and demand amnesty from within our territory, gaining automatic freedom to be released for a hearing sometime in the future, thanks to current law.
Thanks to his reporting and interviews with local officials in Tijuana, we learn that locals sound distinctly Trump-like in their anger over being besieged by:
... people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us.  They're bringing drugs.  They're bringing crime.  They're rapists.  And some, I assume, are good people."
These words, spoken by candidate Trump, are very similar to the laments in Tijuana over the crime, garbage, drug use, and other problems brought by the caravan.
...For generating such a powerful argument, Carlson is now being mau-maued himself, with an advertiser boycott underway.
On his program Monday, he spoke of his intent to soldier on:
Meanwhile, the people profiting from the policy don't want the rest of us to think about it too much.  Those who won't shut up get silenced.  You have seen it a million times, it happens all the time.  The enforcers scream, 'racist!' on Twitter, until everyone gets intimidated and changes the subject to the Russia investigation or some other distraction.  It's a tactic, a well-worn one.  Nobody thinks it's real.  And it won't work with this show, we are not intimidated.  We plan to say what's true until the last day.  And the truth is, unregulated mass immigration has badly hurt this country's natural landscape.  Take a trip to or southwestern deserts if you don't believe it.  Thanks to illegal immigration, huge swaths of the region are covered with garbage and waste that degrade the soil and kill wildlife.
Update: Fox News has provided us a statement on the boycott..."
