"Big media have had plenty to be outraged over during the tough times they have been living through in the age of Trump the Terrible.  
When the New York Times writes its version of the history of Western civilization, today will be at the epicenter of what the paper will describe as the dark ages.

The media are outraged over the silly, like how President Trump gets two scoops of ice cream or doesn't have a pet dog in the White House.  

...There is no outrage over biased and malicious reporting, just the fake humility of acknowledging they were duped, again, then quickly moving on to the next outrage.  
This is exactly why Rush Limbaugh calls them the "drive-by media": they drive by a story, sputter fire and brimstone for a week or two, then quickly drive on after the story is debunked.

This week's outrage is from CNN itself over the fact that the network hired someone who worked in the Trump administration.

Here is the apparent problem.

CNN says it is hiring Sarah Isgur Flores, who most recently served in the Justice Department as Jeff Sessions' spokesman, to be a political editor in the Washington bureau. Flores is a longtime Republican political operative who previously worked for Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz and Mitt Romney.

CNN employees, led by one of their gadflies, Brian Stelter, are fit to be tied, "[q]uestioning whether her sudden leap from the Trump administration to the CNN newsroom is an ethical breach."  
Oh, the outrage of a "revolving door" between administrations and newsrooms.  And the family relationships between Democrat administrations and journalists.

How about these "ethical breaches"?

CNN's senior vice president of newsgathering, Virginia Moseley, is married to Thomas R. Nides, who was a deputy secretary of state in the Obama administration..."

"When not calling Trump supporters “Nazis” as a means to dehumanize us, the establishment media like to whine about the lack of civility in American politics, even as they cover up, ignore, downplay, or straight-up approve of the wave of violence and public harassment we are seeing against supporters of President Trump.

It is open season on Trump supporters, and the media is only fomenting, encouraging, excusing, and hoping for more… 
The media are now openly calling Trump supporters “Nazis” and are blaming Trump for a mass murder he had nothing to do with. 

This, of course, is a form of harassment because it incites and justifies mob violence.

Here is the list, so far, and remember that if any one of these things happened to a Democrat, the media would use the story to blot out the sun for weeks. 

Remember how crazy the media went over a nobody rodeo clown who wore an Obama mask, a GOP staffer who criticized Obama’s daughters? 

And yet, hundreds of Trump supporters are harassed and brutalized and the media only dutifully report them, if at all. 

That is because the media are desperate to normalize and justify violence and harassment against Trump and his supporters.

And while the media openly encourage this violence against us, the media also campaign to disarm us, to take away our Second Amendment right to defend ourselves.

The implication now is that laws are for little guys, like that Navy sailor who was prosecuted for carelessly taking a "hi, Mom"–type photo onboard a classified ship, but not for Madame Big.

"Some years ago I was introduced to one notion of how to tackle dishonest and insincere accusations of racism. 
The idea was not just that there should be a social cost to making a dishonest claim, but that the cost should equal that borne by somebody who is accurately and correctly identified as a racist. 
Without such a disincentive, there is no reason (other than decency and honesty, which may sometimes be in short supply) for people not to level such accusations insincerely.

Since Monday night I have been wondering, amid much else, whether some similar aspiration could be encouraged regarding hate crimes.

...It is possible it may now be added to the growing list of faked hate crimes in the US. 

The journalist Andy Ngohas provided a useful list of some such cases here, and it is just extraordinary. 

Cases like the pro-gay Episcopal church in Indiana which was vandalized with ‘Heil Trump’ graffiti after the election. 

Like the Smollett case, this too was leaped upon on this as a demonstration of the new fascist era, until it turned out that the culprit was in fact the gay organist at the church.

...But then something happens that is real and you realize an even greater bit of damage that such faked hate crimes cause. 

A damage which should mean we don’t just laugh them away.
