Republican California Rep. Devin Nunes took direct aim at House Democrats as he delivered his opening statement in Thursday’s impeachment hearing on Capitol Hill.
The House Intelligence Committee’s ranking member argued that, even as Democrats continued to insist that President Donald Trump had been “caught” either executing or attempting to execute some nefarious scheme, “it’s the Democrats who got caught.”

Pretty much every news organization in the world jumped on the story: the Associated Press, Reuters, NBC News, NPR, the Huffington Post, all the usual suspects.

But then a funny thing happened. 

The U.N. guy explained that his number for children detained in the U.S. was not current, but dated from 2015. 
That is, during the Obama administration. 

So news organizations were faced with a dilemma. 

What to do? 

As Ed Driscoll notes, some, like AFP and Reuters, simply deleted their articles.

Actually, there is still a story here, and a rather interesting one at that.

The reason this is so important is that if there was a 30 year cooling trend of the globe recorded back in 1978, which there was; there is plenty of documentation and fortunately people that remember it , then it must have been warmer before that 30 year stretch.

Even more important, all of the so-called science behind anthropogenic warming started to pick up political momentum around 1989 and used satellite data from 1980 onwards. 
This is very convenient due to the fact that the 30-year cooling period ended around 1979.

This is why, in order to lend credence 2 they're wackadoo hypothesis, alarmist must rely on eliminating that 30 year cooling stretch or the warming we have seen since then is nothing but a normal cycle back warmer, just a little bit warmer at that....

Note that he's not stating that he's against tearing down the system and remaking it — only that he understands that the American people aren't prepared to "fundamentally change" the American system.  "How we approach [fundamentally changing] our system I think will be important."

Obama is in effect advancing the Joy Behar Doctrine.  Recall that last month, in response to Beto O'Rourke's messaging that he was going to go door to door to confiscate guns, Joy Behar, agreeing with his agenda, noted that he should conceal said agenda until elected.

...Obama knows what political savant Joy Behar knows — the American people aren't hard leftists.  

By packaging their hard-left agenda as "sensible," "fair," and "just," they can fool the American people into electing them.
