Congratulations on making it this far, hopefully with some optimism toward the future. What follows is a small sampling of Inside the Beltway items which appeared throughout 2019, reflecting the current political landscape — with 2020 just around the corner.

Forbes elaborated, "The brain on 'smartphone' is the same as the brain on cocaine: we get an instant high every time our screen lights up with a new notification. It's all thanks to dopamine, the feel-good chemical that gets released every time you do something you enjoy, like eating your favorite meal or getting a hundred likes on your latest Instagram post. Dopamine reinforces (and motivates) behavior that makes us feel good and, in turn, can create addiction."

PRAGER: Why The Left Doesn't Like Christmas | The Daily Wire

PRAGER: Why The Left Doesn't Like Christmas | The Daily Wire:

Image result for Custom Made Christmas OrnamentsThe left understands that the more people believe in Christianity (and Judaism), the less chance the left has to gain power. The left doesn’t concern itself with Islam, because it perceives Islam as an ally in its war against Western civilization, and because leftists do not have the courage to confront Islam. They know that confronting religious Muslims can be fatal, whereas confronting religious Christians entails no risks.
Second, the left regards Christianity in America as an intrinsic part of American national identity — an identity it wishes to erode in favor of a “world citizen” identity. The left has not only warred against Christmas; it has sought to undermine other national identity holidays.

"On Dec. 17, 2017, the Detroit Public Schools Community District sent the staff of its Office of Strategy to a

  • six-day conference in Los Angeles at a cost of $286,596.
...Other travel expense reports from the Detroit school district mention
  • $250,000 in spending for staffers to attend a May 2019 conference in Italy and
  • $240,000 for a six-day conference in Los Angeles in December 2018.

Michigan’s second largest school district is Utica Community Schools, and it has reported nothing comparable to the Detroit school for travel expenses. That district’s highest expense for out-of-state conferences in 2018-19 was $2,609..."

The Murder of Tessa Majors Raises Questions About Criminal Responsibility and Punishment For Adolescents.

"The brutal murder of Tessa Majors, an 18-year-old college student, attacked as she walked through Morningside Park in Manhattan, has chilled New Yorkers.
According to news accounts, Majors was robbed and stabbed by three youths who accosted her, put her in a headlock, and emptied her pockets, then slashed her repeatedly with a four-inch knife blade.
Found by police, she was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she died.
The prime suspects are three teenage boys, ages 13 and 14—the third hasn’t yet been apprehended—who confessed to seeking robbery victims in the park.
From comments:
  • Steve Gregg You’re ignoring the aspect of race in violent crime. Here in New York, blacks and Hispanics compose 25% of the population, yet commit 90% of all violent crime. In this case, the perpetrators are three black boys, of course. Everyone sees through the euphimisms of “teens” or “youths” used by the media. We all know you mean “black punks.” It appears even journalists, themselves, are sick of this deception because they make an effort to include photos or videos of the perpetrators that illustrate their race, subverting the politically correct rules within which they must write their stories, which demand they exclude descriptions of the criminals, for fear they will be too often black. The real answer to such crime is for the government to stop subsidizing the dysfunctional lifestyles which produce crime. Too many black women are taking Uncle Sam for their husband. Sam is a terrible father who raises feral children. Show me a criminal and I’ll show you someone raised on welfare to a single mother, if there is any mother at all. We will have fewer criminals and fewer heinous crimes if we change the government so that it rewards healthy, intact families instead of unhealthy, broken families.
  • Meretricious -- Steve Gregg • 2 days ago--absolutely correct--these black "mothers" are really coconspirators in this case.."

Ya wonder why Dingell is likely in HELL?-----The Hellish Legacy of the Dingell Family | Frontpagemag

  • If you’re going to drain the swamp, you’ve gotta call it out.

"A decade ago, Time Magazine unveiled an in-depth article on the death of Detroit.
One of the politicians whom the article blamed for Detroit’s woes was Rep. John Dingell.
The Dingell clan has held a congressional seat outside Detroit since 1932.
Their 87-year tenure has not coincidentally coincided with the decline of a thriving industrial city into a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
Image may contain: textBut it’s been good for the Dingells, three of whom have sat in their congressional seat since the days of Herbert Hoover, the rise of Hitler, and the radio age, and fattened their pockets on its sinecures.
No photo description available.Dingell Sr. was the son of Polish immigrants who started out in politics as a union boss, jumped into a newly created seat, and kept it through eleven elections before passing it on to his son.
Dingell Jr, outdid daddy by becoming the longest serving member of Congress in American history.
Before he died, he passed on the seat to his second wife, whom he married when she was 28 and he was 55 years old.
She was a GM lobbyist who married the Congressman from GM. What was good for GM was good for the Dingells.
Image may contain: textBy 2014, Dingell Jr. was listed as the third richest member of Congress from Michigan with a net worth of $3.5 million
When Debbie took over for him next year, her net worth was up to $3.6 million
The salary for House members was $174,000. The median household income is $57,000 in the 12th.
Not bad for a family whose business was and is the 12th district from western Detroit through Ann Arbor.
Much of the Dingell money came through GM.
And Rep. John Dingell had vocally fought for the GM bailout. The GM couple, which had millions in GM stock, had a lot riding on taxpayers bailing them out..."

Judicial Watch Sues Adam Schiff for Phone Snooping Records | Breitbart

Judicial Watch Sues Adam Schiff for Phone Snooping Records | Breitbart:

Image result for flickr commons images adam schiffJudicial Watch has sued the House Intelligence Committee and its chairman, Adam Schiff (D-CA), on Friday for records relating to Schiff’s phone snooping on his Republican counterpart, a journalist, and the president’s lawyer.
Schiff included phone logs purporting to document communications between Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA), journalist John Solomon, and presidential lawyer Rudy Giuliani, among others, attempting to implicate them in a plot to smear the reputation of then-U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, whom President Donald Trump had constitutional authority to fire for any reason, regardless.

Chemophobia: Nearly 40% of Europeans Want a Chemical-Free World | American Council on Science and Health

  • A new study reveals that nearly 40% of Europeans want to "live in a world where chemical substances don't exist."
  • Another 82% didn't know that table salt is table salt, whether it is extracted from the ocean or made synthetically.
It's not a secret that the average person is scientifically illiterate.
The question is, "Just how scientifically illiterate?"
The answer is appalling.
Researchers Michael Siegrist and Angela Bearth report in the journal Nature Chemistry on a survey they conducted to gauge Europeans' attitudes toward chemicals. They had about 700 respondents from each of eight countries: Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom, for a total of 5,631 participants.
The first series of questions was designed to measure chemophobia, the irrational fear of chemicals. As shown below, 30% of Europeans report being "scared" of chemicals, and about 40% try to "avoid contact with chemical substances" and want to "live in a world where chemical substances don't exist." Obviously, this is impossible. Everything -- water, food, your smartphone -- is a chemical or a combination of chemicals.

Driven by greed: Alliance of FCA, UAW leaders fuels corruption scandal
  • A four-year federal probe has revealed allegations about UAW leaders wasting the auto industry bailout’s historic second chance by embezzling member dues, shaking down union contractors and scheming with auto executives.
"...The $85 billion government bailout that 10 years ago rescued GM, delivered Chrysler Group to Marchionne's Fiat SpA for no cash down and gave the United Auto Workers large stakes in both automakers also fueled a decade-long corruption conspiracy that has tarnished FCA's revival, undermined the UAW's credibility and exposed the labor union to federal takeover..."

Watch -- Ted Cruz: Democrats' Mark First Time in History President Impeached Without 'A Single Article Alleging Any Criminal Conduct' | Breitbart:

Image result for flickr commons images u.s. constitutionSenator Ted Cruz (R-TX) told Breitbart News on Friday that the House Democrats’ unprecedented impeachment of President Donald Trump marks the first time in U.S. history in which a president has been impeached “without even a single article alleging any criminal conduct.”
“Never before in history has a president been impeached without even a single article alleging any criminal conduct — without an article alleging even any federal law was violated,” said Cruz.
