Will the United States Disintegrate? | National Review

Will the United States Disintegrate? | National Review

"... the cultural chasm separating the two Americas has grown wider still.
The condition that increasingly obtains in American society is that those who disagree no longer have anything to say to one another: Fact-based argument has been replaced by the knee-jerk contempt of identity politics.
This is why I have come to believe that I will live to see Red and Blue America negotiate what I call a “soft disunion.”
...Even in the biggest and reddest of states, there are deep-blue enclaves that have no wish to be absorbed into the whole.
Perhaps they will be the West Berlins of the 21st century, tiny islands of dissent in vast seas of concord. But if the desire to separate is strong enough, then the problem will surely be solved in one way or another...Read all.

WaPo Publishes Cartoon Depicting Republican Lawmakers As Rats Who Tried To ‘Subvert The Constitution’
"The Washington Post printed a cartoon on Sunday depicting various Republicans as rats.
The cartoon, drawn by The Post’s editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes and titled “All the Republican rats,” includes well over 100 named “state attorneys general and U.S. Congress members” accused of allowing President Donald Trump to attempt to stay in office...

Using rats as a means to depict one’s enemy is a longstanding tradition among cartoonists.
Nazi Germany depicted the Jewish community as rats in propaganda pieces, Fox News contributor Steve Milloy noted...Read all!

After Trying to Defund Police, Minneapolis City Council Asks: 'Where Are the Police?'

After Trying to Defund Police, Minneapolis City Council Asks: 'Where Are the Police?'

"Now that Al Sharpton has lost interest in Minneapolis — after all, there are no more televised funerals of criminal suspects who died in police custody for him to hijack — the rest of his comrades in the national media have moved on as well.

The vultures got what they needed from George Floyd’s corpse and flew away, so now the people of Minneapolis are left to their own devices.

Their riot-ravaged neighborhoods and crime-ridden streets don’t fit the preferred narrative, so they’re being ignored.

But the residents still have to live there. They’re still trying to go about their daily lives. The people who can afford to move away from Minneapolis are fleeing in droves, but what about the people who are stuck there? What can they expect from their local leaders, who have spent months trying to #DefundThePolice because it was trending on Twitter?

Minneapolitans can expect what we can always expect from politicians: whining, blame-shifting, and cowardly ass-covering.

Brandt Williams, Minnesota Public Radio:

The meeting was slated as a Minneapolis City Council study session on police reform.
But for much of the two-hour meeting, council members told police Chief Medaria Arradondo that their constituents are
  • seeing and hearing street racing which sometimes results in crashes,
  • brazen daylight carjackings,
  • robberies, assaults and
  •  shootings.
And they asked Arradondo what the department is doing about it.
“Residents
are asking, ‘Where are the police’?” said Jamal Osman, newly elected council member of Ward 6Read all.

The down side to wind power

The down side to wind power
  • Wind farms will cause more environmental impact than previously thought
"When it comes to energy production, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, unfortunately.
As the world begins its large-scale transition toward low-carbon energy sources, it is vital that the pros and cons of each type are well understood and the environmental impacts of renewable energy, small as they may be in comparison to coal and gas, are considered.
In two papers — published today in the journals Environmental Research Letters and Joule — Harvard University researchers find that the transition to wind or solar power in the U.S. would require five to 20 times more land than previously thought, and, if such large-scale wind farms were built, would warm average surface temperatures over the continental U.S. by 0.24 degrees Celsius...Read all.

Gov. Tom Wolf Threatens to Fine PA Restaurants for Operating Despite Shutdown Orders

“They’re worried about paying their rent or buying their children Christmas gifts,” Al’s Cafe owner Rod Ambrogi said, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “So we made the decision and the restaurant employees want to stay open, so that’s what I’m doing. I’m standing up for what I believe is right.”

Such establishments operating outside of the governor’s edicts face “fines or temporary closure”:

"INTRODUCTION
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, People will eventually come to believe it.”
~Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s Nazi Minister of Propaganda
Billions of people seem to be paralyzed by confusion, fear and helplessness.
We’re hearing in the mainstream media that the predicted second wave is here and that record case numbers are being reported.
Europe is shutting down again.
Joe Biden is touting national mask mandates and more lockdowns.
Mainstream media is avoiding any discussion of contrary evidence to their narrative, alternate opinions from experts who disagree, or acknowledgment of Sweden, South Dakota, Russia, and others, who didn’t do lockdowns, and were apparently better off for it.
Mainstream media tells us to resist conspiracy theories and that good people obey, while the number of supposed cases, our economy, our relations and our options just keep getting worse.
But what if the media is itself an arm of a very real and dangerous conspiracy they are telling us to avoid?
Whether or not we trust these mainstream sources is at the heart of the great divide we are experiencing. Even a cursory look at who pays for the ads on mainstream news unveils a bias to support pharmaceutical interests.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Eleven months of dedicated research have led me to the inescapable conclusion that most of us are unsuspecting targets of the greatest crime in history. ...Much here, read all!

The Dalton Gang Shoots Itself | The American Conservative
"The Dalton School is an elite school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan that has long prided itself on its “progressive” values. Progress comes at a price: tuition for its K-12 program is over $54,000 a year...

A hundred Dalton teachers are revolting over the school’s plan to reopen, and have issued a set of demands to the school. Some students are joining. What do they want? Gosh, what don’t they want? Excerpts:

Here is a link to the original text of the ransom note, which most of the Dalton faculty have signed...Read all.

The Coronavirus Is Mutating. What Does That Mean for Us? - The New York Times
"Officials in Britain and South Africa claim new variants are more easily transmitted.
  • There’s a lot more to the story, scientists say.
Just as vaccines begin to offer hope for a path out of the pandemic, officials in Britain on Saturday sounded an urgent alarm about what they called a highly contagious new variant of the coronavirus circulating in England.
  • ...In South Africa, a similar version of the virus has emerged, which seems to share some of the mutations seen in the British variant.
That virus has been found in 90 percent of the samples whose genetic sequences have been analyzed in South Africa...Read all.

Jill Biden: I Worked Really Hard on My Misspelled, Mathematically-Incorrect, Dissertation | Frontpagemag

"In the victimhood olympics, some players start off more privileged than others, by being born a minority, or choosing to become a sexual minority. While others have nothing going for them except being the mediocre trophy wife of a creepy old man.

...Really, really hard.

Mrs. Biden’s only original research consists of interviews with two — that’s right, two — ex-students and a few colleagues at Delaware Technical Community College, where she used to teach, plus the results of a vacuous questionnaire

Super-super hard.

Here is how its second sentence reads: "The needs of the student population are often undeserved, resulting in a student drop-out rate of almost one third."

I think Dr. Biden meant "underserved," not "undeserved." I know.

Dr. Biden's math is as suspect as her logic and her word choice. Consider the following gem: "Three quarters of the class will be Caucasian; one quarter of the class will be African American; and the remaining seats will be filled with students of Asian descent or non-resident aliens."

More to the point, critics have correctly pointed out that Dr. Jill's dissertation strings along a bunch of cliches. It's a typical enough student paper in a lot of settings, but it's not a dissertation. And its author insisting that she worked hard on it is sad if true, and makes her insistence on being called "Dr" even more pathetic.

But this is the hand that Dr. Kiddo has been dealt and she's gotta play it by insisting she's the victim of sexism because people won't call her "Dr."...Read all.

Adam Carolla Supports Gavin Newsom Recall, Challenges Californians: 'Stop Being Sheep ...' - Louder With Crowder

California seems like a horrible place to spend a pandemic. I say that as a New Yorker whose governor invented tyrannical lockdown mandates. Commiefornia looks like a su-diddly-ucky place to live. And that's just talking about the COVID tyranny! That's not getting into all the homeless and poop. I will however give California credit for one thing. When the voters finally get fed up, they aren't afraid to recall their governor. There's a Recall Newsom effort under way, which is already halfway to having the necessary signatures. Count at least one celebrity endorser: Adam Carolla.

Why have more people been forced out of work than at any time since records began?
For what purpose?
To what end?
I hear the phrase Build Back Better.
And today there was a new one: Build Back Fairer.
And I realize to build back, you must first completely destroy.
I may still hold a grudge for the wars Germany started, but at least in a time of war there are shots fired and bombs dropped.
You can witness destruction by an enemy and use it to fuel your determination to fight back.
This time the enemy is the leadership we elected to represent us.
Fighting back in this invisible war of attrition will be a far more bloody affair...Read all!

Michael Flynn Drops ANOTHER Bombshell - The GOP Times

In an interview on Fox News, General Michael Flynn said that counterintelligence officials should be investigating connections between a Chinese spy and Democrat Representative Eric Swalwell, instead of wasting resources investigating him and President Trump. A recent report from Axios showed a link between Swalwell and a woman named Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese spy linked to several Democrat political figures.

“Your whole family is dead,” they told him.
