President Joe Biden on Tuesday called for a national assault weapons ban in the wake of two violent mass shooting incidents over the past week, arguing for targeted legislation to crack down on felons purchasing firearms. But one Republican senator is offering legislation he says will actually stop violent criminals from getting their hands on firearms.
He indicated that if a private business still wishes to limit its capacity or enforce other virus safety precautions, the business would be free to do so without a government mandate.
"It is their business, and they get to choose to operate their business the way they want to," Abbott said. "At this time, however, people and businesses don't need the state telling them how to operate."

A Republican congressman has proposed a bill to end coronavirus lockdowns nationwide and prevent the president of the United States from imposing a national lockdown or placing bans on interstate travel.

Petroleum is one of the greatest gifts that Divine Providence bestowed on this planet for our benefit. Petroleum provides us with everything from energy to clothing, from laundry detergent to eyeglasses. Almost everything we live with is based on petroleum in some way; it should be championed, not demonized.
Most so-called “green energy” is anything but green. While there are rare exceptions, wind power and solar power cost so much to manufacture, use, and eventual decommission, the fiction that they are cost-efficient requires both massive government subsidies and incredible self-denial about the environmental damage they do. From the birds they fry or shred, to the incredible landfill space they use when retired, to the huge acreage they require for operation, green energy can honestly be described as little more than a colossal scam.

Democrats say the components of the bill are widely popular with the American people. Which makes sense, because the American people have been struggling due to the government shutdowns. The bill is mostly known for the $1,400 checks being sent out. "Free" money is popular even if the economics behind it is a little illiterate.
And yes, the one-time $1,400 checks are in the bill. Unless you work for the government. In that case, you may be eligible to get $1,400 a WEEK in what some critics are calling a "personal bailout for bureaucrats."
