Incompetence + Arrogance = Woke

Incompetence + Arrogance = Woke
  • Politically correct ideology is masking and contributing to the widespread failure of our institutions.--By Victor Davis Hanson
"...And we know, too, how such insanity—from the Salem witch trials to Jacobinism to McCarthyism—can spread, despite alienating most of the population, through fear and the threat of personal ruin or worse.
...But does wokeism serve another purpose as well?
Specifically, does it either hide preexisting incompetence or fuel it?
...Yet in their zeal to rectify society in general and sermonize, virtue signal, pontificate, and perform to the public, many institutions are increasingly failing at what they were established to do.
  • Of course, public servants have long suffered the “Bloomberg effect”—focusing on misdemeanors to virtue signal competence as penance for failing to solve the existential crises. If you cannot clear New York City of snow in a timely manner, then lecture the trapped on everything from global warming to the dangers of super-sized soft drinks.
Yet wokeism is a bit different since it now pervades our societies as a pandemic of its own.
Take Delta Airline CEO Ed Bastian. He earns $17 million in annual compensation, and lectures the state of Georgia and the nation at large on our supposedly racist voting laws...Read all.

Australia Has Fallen

Simone Biles is no hero. She is a quitter. - Washington Times

No one should be surprised in an era where men are allowed to dress as women and compete with the ladies, all while claiming to be women, that the USA Gymnastics women’s program vice-president called Ms. Biles‘ act “incredibly selfless.” Up is down. Down is up.

It wasn’t selfless. It was incredibly self-centered and selfish. The list of those Simone Biles let down includes much more than just her teammates.  Corporate sponsors including Athleta, Nabisco, Uber Eats, United Airlines provided Biles income in seven figures. The pressure wasn’t too great for her to cash the checks. The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee puts millions into training facilities, coaches and more to make these athletes the most competitive they can be. That time, money, and effort were all wasted. Why? Because Ms. Simone didn’t feel like it in Tokyo.

They never have a clue. Never will!-----ESPN Writer Wonders Why People Don't Like Megan Rapinoe and I Have Thoughts

ESPN Writer Wonders Why People Don't Like Megan Rapinoe and I Have Thoughts

"...The dislike of Rapinoe is so widespread and apparent that it had ESPN feature writer Katie Barnes asking why people “hated” her so much:

Before I get into my specific thoughts on the subject of Megan Rapinoe, let’s dissect the tweet a little bit.

While it’s true that most people (whether they like her or not) will “likely never” get to meet Megan Rapinoe, insinuating they have no reason to dislike her because she “has no bearing on their lives” is more than a little bit off.

Whether she’d admit to it or not, Rapinoe has appointed herself as a spokesperson of sorts not just for women but also for the LGBTQ community. She advocates policy positions and has even become a pal of the Biden administration. So yes, being in the powerful position she is, Rapinoe has the ability to impact the lives of every American by way of her advocacy. The dislike of her isn’t just because she’s an annoying person; it’s because her critics don’t want her ill-informed opinions on issues like “equal pay” and “transgender rights” to become more pervasive in the American/political psyche than they already are.

Beyond that, there is a lot to dislike about Rapinoe...Read all.

I Know Exactly Who Is To Blame for This New Wave of COVID-19, and I Know Who Is Making a Fortune on It, by Wayne Allyn Root | Creators Syndicate

I Know Exactly Who Is To Blame for This New Wave of COVID-19, and I Know Who Is Making a Fortune on It, by Wayne Allyn Root | Creators Syndicate
"...I've uncovered the fraud. On May 1, the CDC stopped counting cases of COVID-19 among vaccinated Americans.
That's what allowed them to say this new wave was 100% due to the unvaccinated.
They just stopped counting anyone sick who damaged their sales pitch.
That's fraud on a massive scale. But why?
It's all about the Benjamins.
Let's follow the money trail.
  • CULPRIT NO. 1: BIG PHARMA. Biden, Fauci and the CDC are clearly shilling for Big Pharma and the vaccine manufacturers. Those vaccine companies are making a killing (excuse the pun). You don't think Big Pharma is handing out payola (i.e., bribes) to politicians, the media and CDC and FDA bureaucrats to scare the hell out of Americans, thereby convincing them to get vaccinated, even though they all know the vaccines aren't working?
  • CULPRIT NO. 2: CHINA. China is to blame. Blaming "unvaccinated Americans" is a weapon of mass distraction. China sent this bioweapon our way. This is China's pandemic. China is pure evil. China is guilty of mass murder. China is on the hook for $10 trillion or more in damages. China caused a worldwide economic depression. And it isn't over yet. Biden is itching to announce a national lockdown that will destroy our economy. Who benefits? China. Is Biden on China's payroll? How much is China paying into offshore accounts?
  • CULPRIT NO. 3: BIDEN HIMSELF. If COVID-19 is so bad, so dangerous, so deadly, why did Biden open the borders and invite 1.1 million refugees into America since January?...Read all!!

Squires: A family trip reminded me it takes a nation of BLM villages to hold us back - TheBlaze

For those who don't remember, BLM listed its 13 Guiding Principles online for four years before they removed them after public criticism in 2020. Here is the text of the "Black Villages" principle: "We are committed to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and 'villages' that collectively care for one another, and especially 'our' children to the degree that mothers, parents and children are comfortable."

Yet blacks are more likely to avoid the poke.

CNP: Removing photos from promotion boards has hurt diversity

CNP: Removing photos from promotion boards has hurt diversity
"Removing photos from promotion and selection boards has had adverse effects on diversity, according to Vice Adm. John Nowell Jr., the chief of naval personnel.
“I think we should consider reinstating photos in selection boards,” Nowell said Tuesday at The Navy League’s 2021 Sea-Air-Space Exposition.
...The comments come a little more than a year after the Department of Defense moved to eliminate photos from promotion and selection boards.
“It’s a meritocracy. We’re only going to pick the best of the best, but we’re very clear with our language … that we want them to consider diversity across all areas. Right?” Nowell said...Read all.

News Rigging Has Arrived! Astroturf and Manipulation of Media Messages

"This is a great video and if you read at the Medical Quack, news rigging has been a somewhat frequent content. To a degree, everyone is really becoming more skeptical of what’s in the news.  Here’s a post from a couple of years ago, from Quant Cathy O’Neill, “On Being a Skeptic”.  Who knows better than those who model as once it’s designed you have to use the darn thing, right?  Of course you do.

You Can't Censor Away Extremism (or Any Other Problem) - by Freddie deBoer - Freddie deBoer
  • Should we stop hate speech? What makes you think we can?
"When I was in grad school at Purdue these anti-abortion protesters would show up about once a semester.
...But I remember talking to someone I didn’t know about it, someone from another department.
At one point he said “we’re going to no-platform them,” as casually as he might have informed me that he was stopping at Jimmy John’s on the way home.
I thought, but did not say, what seemed like the obvious response: that we attended a university run by a pro-life president in a pro-life state with a pro-life governor and a pro-life legislature and a pro-life citizenry and that we were a bunch of powerless disorganized outsider academics who the local population didn’t much like and that if anyone was going to be “no-platformed” it was going to be us.
But the thought had apparently not occurred to him, marinated in academia and I’m guessing very online. He was a progressive living in 21st century America and he assumed that those he chose to censor were those he could.
This confidence is shared by many left-leaning people today, and it is typical of contemporary liberalism in its combination of arrogance and folly...Read all.

Of Course, *This* Would Happen to the Recent COVID Death Toll Figures by Matt Vespa
There’s a reason why the media focuses on percentages instead of figures. You can make a slight uptick in deaths into something more horrifying by adding a percentage to it. Deaths from COVID remain low and the survival rate remains above 90+ percent. Nearly 100 million probably already had and recovered from COVID. Another 164 million have been fully vaccinated. We’re in an era of localized outbreaks. But back to the death rate—it’s trash. The figures released last week were grounded in old data (via NY Post):
