Democrats' ICE hysteria hides their deepest midterm fears - Victor Davis Hanson
Behind this stale Democrat boilerplate lies a deep fear that the Nietzschean Trump, just as he beat all their lawfare ambushes, will also do the impossible and avoid losing Congress in November.Their Trump obsessions result in three now well-worn strategies.
And they should fear.
- The first, of course, is still more chaos in America’s streets...
- Second, Democrats seize on every Trump art-of-the-deal excess or coarse putdown...
- Third, Democrats still rely on their ossified partnerships with the media, academia and popular culture to mouth the old talking points...
And they should fear.
- Trump’s catalysts for a booming 2026 economy are already in place.
- massive deregulation,
- new tax cuts and incentives,
- recalibrated tariffs,
- unprecedented foreign investment,
- record energy development and
- emerging technologies.
All that’s needed before the midterms is more focus on the
- current GDP boom,
- lower inflation and
- increased purchasing power — all in contrast to Biden’s economic disaster...

A leading employer in the Upper Peninsula fears significant economic harm from the mandate, as do lawmakers from the area. - Jamie A. Hope
The utility and its customers will be obligated to pay off the RICE generators until 2049, even if they are unusable.
Cleveland Cliffs, a large employer in the U.P., has said it may cease operations at its open-pit Tilden Mine (iron mine) south of Ishpeming if electricity prices soar, as CapCon previously reported.

Not to worry—Trump did not post a racist video about the Obamas
Having said that, the claim is going viral on the left, so you need to have your facts lined up to challenge your TDS-suffering friends and acquaintances. - Andrea Widburg
- The problem with the video Trump posted is that it’s a dead certainty that he reposted it without bothering to watch the whole thing.
- Had he watched it to the end, he would have known that there was a problem.
You see, the video is a screen recording captured by an unknown third party.
And what the unknown third party was also clearly unaware of (or, possibly, didn’t care about) was the automated beginning of another, entirely unrelated video.
So, what you get after 58 seconds of a serious video about a serious topic is two seconds of an automatically played video showing Michelle and Barack Obama’s heads attached to the cartoon bodies of simian creatures. (Apes? Chimps? I have no idea.)

You can see for yourself what happened:
As I can attest from my slow learning curve in making video-podcasts, failing to clip the end of a screen recording is a classic amateur mistake...

Sympathy Observes, Empathy Feels—Only Compassion Acts - Michael Smith

In thinking about the concept of “suicidal empathy,” I’ve found myself reflecting more broadly on the human condition.

In thinking about the concept of “suicidal empathy,” I’ve found myself reflecting more broadly on the human condition.
That reflection keeps circling back to three words we often treat as interchangeable, even though they require distinctly different levels of involvement and produce radically different outcomes:
sympathy, empathy, and compassion.
- Sympathy is feeling for someone. You recognize hardship from a safe distance and feel pity.
- Empathy goes further—it is feeling with someone. You step into their emotional experience and share their pain.
- Compassion is the synthesis of both. It combines understanding suffering with a willingness to relieve it.
Put simply: sympathy observes, empathy experiences, and compassion acts.
This is not merely semantic. It is a progression that any healthy civil society must complete if it hopes to solve real problems, moving from awareness, to emotion, to responsibility...

But at a time when families can barely afford to pay their power bills — and the price of Australian energy is contributing to a historic cost-of-living crisis — all of these precious values come under threat...

A special agent with the Department of Homeland Security revealed in court documents that leftists who disrupted services at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, made frightening comments to children in the congregation.
