Politico reporter Mike Allen on Monday downplayed his attempt to offer Chelsea Clinton a "relaxed" interview, and instead chalked it up to a "clumsy" email he wrote.
A 2013 email trail showed that Allen told Clinton aide Philippe Reines that if Chelsea Clinton agreed to an interview, the questions would be pre-screened. Allen said his offer amounted to a "no risk" interview opportunity for Clinton.
Allen didn't offer an explicit apology for the email, but did tell his readers "My bad!" in his Monday morning email.
He then implied that he never really offered cushy interview terms to Clinton, since his employer doesn't allow him to make that offer.
"You may have missed a Gawker post last week that rightly took me to task for something clumsy I wrote in an email to Philippe Reines in 2013, seeking an interview with Chelsea Clinton at a Politico brunch," he said, referring to the site that first published the emails.
"In the email, I said I'd agree to the questions in advance."
"I have never done that, and would never do that," he wrote.
"The email makes me cringe, because I should never have suggested we would," he added.
"We retain full, unambiguous editorial control over our events and questioning.
My bond with readers and newsmakers is built on knowing I don't pull punches."
Allen said Politico's policy is never to promise editorial control to an interview subject, and defended his past interviews as "spontaneous, conversational and news-driven."
The interview never took place.
But in the 2013 email conversation between Allen and Reines, Allen said, "I would work with you on topics [for the interview with Chelsea], and would start with anything she wants to cover or make news on.
Quicker than a network hit, and reaching an audience you care about with no risk."
It's not unusual for a journalist to discuss the terms of a potential interview in advance, but it is remarkable that an influential reporter would suggest that he was entirely relinquishing control of an interview to a powerful person, though Chelsea's mother Hillary had not yet announced her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination."

I haven’t got a hijab on my head, that is, I’m not Muslim and so I am bad.
The train stopped. 

Speakers said in English and German that the train doesn’t go any further. 

The four people and I who had tickets, started battling our way through the migrant mass. 

At first, they didn’t want to let us go, and they talked about using us as hostages, that it would be worth stopping us."

You've heard the news about honeybees.
"Beepocalypse," they've called it.
Beemageddon.
America's honeybees are dying, putting honey production and $15 billion worth of pollinated food crops in jeopardy.
The situation has become so dire that earlier this year the White House put forth the first National Strategy to Promote the Health of Honey Bees and Other Pollinators, a 64-page policy framework for saving the nation's bees, butterflies and other pollinating animals.
The trouble all began in 2006 or so, when beekeepers first began noticing mysterious die-offs.
It was soon christened "colony collapse disorder," and has been responsible for the loss of 20 to 40 percent of managed honeybee colonies each winter over the past decade.
The math says that if you lose 30 percent of your bee colonies every year for a few years, you rapidly end up with close to 0 colonies left.
But get a load of this data on the number of active bee colonies in the U.S. since 1987.
Pay particular attention to the period after 2006, when CCD was first documented.
As you can see, the number of honeybee colonies has actually risen since 2006, from 2.4 million to 2.7 million in 2014, according to data tracked by the USDA.
The 2014 numbers, which came out earlier this year, show that the number of managed colonies -- that is, commercial honey-producing bee colonies managed by human beekeepers -- is now the highest it's been in 20 years.
So if CCD is wiping out close to a third of all honeybee colonies a year, how are their numbers rising?
One word: Beekeepers.
A 2012 working paper by Randal R. Tucker and Walter N. Thurman, a pair of agricultural economists, explains that seasonal die-offs have always been a part of beekeeping: they report that before CCD, American beekeepers would typically lose 14 percent of their colonies a year, on average..."

In the face of college students far and wide complaining about emotional “triggers” they see and hear, annexing “safe spaces” where opposing views can’t hurt their feelings and even threatening free speech, Everett Piper is seemingly fed up with it all.
The president of Oklahoma Wesleyan University began his recent open letter to students with a story it appears he could hardly believe himself.
“This past week, I actually had a student come forward after a university chapel service and complain because he felt ‘victimized’ by a sermon on the topic of 1 Corinthians 13,” Piper explained in his letter posted to the school’s website.
“It appears that this young scholar felt offended because a homily on love made him feel bad for not showing love! In his mind, the speaker was wrong for making him, and his peers, feel uncomfortable.”
And with that, Piper apparently had enough.
“I’m not making this up,” he continued.
“Our culture has actually taught our kids to be this self-absorbed and narcissistic! 
Any time their feelings are hurt, they are the victims! 
Anyone who dares challenge them and, thus, makes them ‘feel bad’ about themselves, is a ‘hater,’ a ‘bigot,’ an ‘oppressor,’ and a ‘victimizer.’”
Piper went on to explain to students that the familiar feeling of “discomfort” when confronted with wrongdoing is called a “conscience” — and that the “goal of many a good sermon is to get you to confess your sins—not coddle you in your selfishness” or help you achieve “self-actualization.”

Officer Latisha Stroer told the Columbia Tribune in an email that Omar grabbed the girl ‘very violently by the hair’.
He then allegedly slapped her across the face, and pulled her by the hair down and flight of stairs and into his car.
Omar’s LinkedIn page lists him as being an assistant professor at the University of Missouri, Columbia and manager of Artifacts Journal at the University bookstore.
His Facebook page says he’s married and originally from Benghazi, Libya.

A shrunken agreement to leave internal borders open might, for example, exclude countries in south-eastern Europe. 
A huge number of refugees have arrived in Europe on boats from Turkey, landing in Greece and attempting to travel north.
He turned that into a more startling analogy, according to a report from the Financial Times.
Here's the kicker:
“As we all know from the Roman empire, big empires go down if the borders are not well-protected,” said Mr Rutte in an interview with a group of international newspapers. “So we really have an imperative that it is handled.”
...Rutte isn't the first or only person to make the analogy.
Historian Niall Ferguson made a similar point about the EU and Rome in the aftermath of the Islamist attacks on Paris this month.

McDonald was the teen who was shot by the Chicago officer 16 times, some while he was apparently incapacitated on the ground. 

His family, namely his mother and sister were paid $5 million in a settlement from the city. But they were not taking care of him, the city effectively was. 

He was removed from his home at age 5 and grew up in foster homes. 

One has to wonder was he removed from the home because of the molestation?

CHICAGO (CBS) — Who was Laquan McDonald? CBS 2’s Dorothy Tucker takes a look at his complicated life from the view of educators and family friends.

Yolanda Hoskins speaks affectionately about the Laquan McDonald. He was her son’s best friend.

“Happy…and just wanted to be around somebody and feel loved,” she said.

The 17-year-old she knew liked basketball, tacos and gym shoes, but he also had a troubled past.

“He was a ward of the state,” she said. “He was molested too.”

His death at the hands of a Chicago Police officer who’s accused of shooting him 16 times prompted Hoskins to join community activists in a call for justice.

There have been questions raised about the failure to release the video earlier and some have accused Rahm Emanuel of holding it back to not hinder his election, and paying the family off. 

The family apparently was shown the video but did not seek to make it public, in fact, said they would prefer it not to be public as ‘what mother would want to see the execution of her son over and over’. 

As part of the settlement they agreed to keep it confidential.

His mother at every point failed him, mother’s boyfriend abused him and he had to be removed from the home. 
And you wonder how he became a druggie and ended up high on PCP?
