Deadly London Tower Fire Fueled By 'Green Energy' Rules | The Daily Caller

Deadly London Tower Fire Fueled By 'Green Energy' Rules | The Daily Caller:
Image result for london fire 2017"London’s Grenfell Tower was made worse by government “green energy requirements” that allowed fire to rapidly engulf the building Wednesday, leaving at least 57 people dead and scores more wounded or missing.
While it’s unknown what sparked the fire, experts say that the cladding, or exterior insulation, created a chimney effect through which the fire rapidly spread upwards.
The cladding was added to Grenfell’s exterior in 2015 as part of a $12.8 million retrofit.
“I have never seen a fire that has engulfed an entire building like this in a career of more than 30 years,” Matt Wrack, who heads the Fire Brigades Union, told The Telegraph.
...The Telegraph noted that cladding “is used as an insulation to make buildings more sustainable to meet green energy requirements.”
Some 30,000 buildings in the U.K. have been retrofitted with cladding to cheaply comply with green energy mandates..."

Seattle Passes 'Gun Violence' Tax — Gun Sales Plummet, Violent Crime Rate Soars
"The city of Seattle, Washington, passed a controversial “gun violence” tax on the sale of all firearms and ammunition in 2015.

Critics argued that violent crime would increase, and gun dealers would either close up shop or move out of city limits.
Proponents of the law, which went into effect on January 1, 2016, argued that neither would happen and the law would generate from $300,000 to $500,000 on an annual basis, which, in 2016, was earmarked to “fund a study of gunshot victims, including medical and behavioral interventions.”
The critics were right.

...According to the Seattle Police Department, the number of gun shootings with injuries is up 54 percent and gun deaths have doubled during the first five months of 2017, as compared to the same period before the law went into effect.
As reported by TheGunMag.com, the law places a $25 tax on every firearm sold, and a five-cent tax on each centerfire cartridge, and two cents per rimfire cartridge.
Dave Workman, senior editor of GunMag, rhetorically asked “how much data do you need?”, adding “The data says the law has failed to prevent what they promised it would prevent.”
City officials wouldn't reveal the amount of revenue generated by the law in 2016, saying only that it was “under $200,000...”

A Scientist Didn’t Disclose Important Data—and Let Everyone Believe a Popular Weedkiller Causes Cancer – Mother Jones

A Scientist Didn’t Disclose Important Data—and Let Everyone Believe a Popular Weedkiller Causes Cancer – Mother Jones:
"A World Health Organization group called RoundUp a “probable carcinogen,” but it didn’t have all the facts."
Image result for junk scienceDoes a common herbicide cause cancer?
Over the past several years, that question has stirred up no shortage of controversy, with international health agencies offering conflicting information.
The weedkiller, a chemical called glyphosate, is commonly sold by the agribiz giant Monsanto under the brand name RoundUp.
...After extensive reviews, most regulatory agencies—the US Environmental Protection Agency, the European Food Safety Authority, and those of many other nations—have come to the conclusion that it does not cause cancer.
So when the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a division of the UN’s World Health Organization, declared RoundUp a probable carcinogen in 2015, there was an international outcry.
Shortly after, 184 plaintiffs in California filed a legal case against Monsanto, saying that the company failed to warn them about the risks of its product.
Since then, in a separate suit, hundreds more plaintiffs have claimed that RoundUp caused their cancers, citing the IARC’s findings as evidence.
About that evidence:
According to a new Reuters investigation, Aaron Blair, the scientist who led the IARC’s review panel on glyphosate, had access to data from a large study that strongly suggested that Roundup did not cause cancer after all—but he withheld that data from the RoundUp review panel.
Weirder still: Blair himself was a senior researcher on that study...
Image result for roundup...As of yet, there are no signs of IARC backing off its conclusion that RoundUp causes cancer.
Despite the existence of fresh data about glyphosate,” reported Reuters, the agency is “sticking with its findings.”
But the cat is out of the bag.
During an EPA budget hearing Thursday, Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) asked EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to look into the withheld evidence on RoundUp.
Eisen, meanwhile, worries that IARC’s handling of this case will damage public perception of the group.
“This is going to end up undermining people’s confidence in this agency’s ability to do this well,” he said. “They don’t seem interested in getting to the bottom of these things. These decisions seem based in politics.”"

Arctic expedition halted by thick ice: Warmists blame ‘climate change’

Arctic expedition halted by thick ice: Warmists blame ‘climate change’:
"Scientists who cancelled their Arctic expedition due to thick ice conditions have an interesting excuse for why they had to abandon their research project — climate change.
“We’re doing a large-scale climate change study and before we can even get going on it, climate change is conspiring to force us to cancel that study,” David Barber, a University of Manitoba scientist who lead the expedition, told The Guardian Wednesday.
Barber’s expedition set out in late May after being caught in 25-foot thick ice off the northern coast of Newfoundland.
The expedition was forced to turn back after spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for a four-year project to study the effects of global warming on Hudson Bay.
Now, Barber and fellow researchers are blaming their botched expedition on global warming, or climate change, as they call it.
Their evidence?
Not much, except the opinions of some scientists involved — at least,
The Guardian didn’t present any evidence otherwise.
The paper just assumed climate change was the culprit..."

Russia has developed a cyber weapon that can disrupt power grids, new research finds - ScienceAlert:
"Hackers allied with the Russian government have devised a cyber weapon that has the potential to be the most disruptive yet against electric systems that Americans depend on for daily life, according to US researchers.
Image result for cyber weapon that can disrupt power gridsThe malware, which researchers have dubbed CrashOverride, is known to have disrupted only one energy system - in Ukraine in December.
In that incident, the hackers briefly shut down one-fifth of the electric power generated in Kiev.
But with modifications, it could be deployed against US electric transmission and distribution systems to devastating effect, said Sergio Caltagirone, director of threat intelligence for Dragos, a cybersecurity firm that studied the malware and issued a report on Monday.
And Russian government hackers have already shown their interest in targeting US energy and other utility systems, researchers said.
...That attack (Ukraine), which left 225,000 customers without power, was carried out by Russian government hackers, other US researchers concluded..."
