On February 17, Portland State University held an event to discuss viewpoint diversity moderated by PSU philosophy professor Peter Boghossian, with a panel including former Evergreen State biologist Heather E. Heying, writer Helen Pluckrose, and former Google engineer James DaMore, who was fired in 2017 after writing a memo about the biological differences between men and women.
When Heying spoke of the simple biological differences between men and women, some leftist activists hilariously threw a fit, rising up in protest and sabotaging the sound system as they exited.
At the event, which was titled, "We Need to Talk About Diversity," Boghossian preceded the brouhaha by asking Pluckrose what “social constructivism” meant.
Pluckrose responded, “It’s the idea that all of our traits, our characteristics, abilities, cognitive, psychological, behavioral, are learned from societal norms; the idea that there can be innate or biological or inherited differences are dismissed. And so, we’re in a position where if there is injustice, or if there is an imbalance anywhere, sort of an inequality of representation, then the explanation for that can be the societal injustice.”...

"...On Tuesday, Texas kicked off 2018's congressional primaries, and in a positive sign for Democrats across the country, their voters demonstrated far greater energy than in past midterms.
With nearly all votes counted, total votes cast in the Democratic primary surged 85 percent over 2014's tally, compared to a 14 percent increase on the GOP side.
However, the Republican primary still accounted for 60 percent of all primary turnout..."

California 'sanctuary' laws obstruct public safety, law enforcement, Border Patrol says - Washington Times:
"The Border Patrol says it’s been forced to release a drunk driver back onto the streets, and nearly missed out on nabbing a fake UPS delivery van carrying 77 illegal immigrants — all because California’s new sanctuary city laws have soured cooperation between police and federal authorities.
In the drunk driving case a local police department said it couldn’t respond to agents who’d pulled over the drunk driver, since it began as an immigration stop. They said it would violate the state’s sanctuary law limiting their ability to work with border or interior agents, Rodney S. Scott, chief patrol agent of the Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector, told a federal court."

Islam—Facts or Dreams? - Imprimis
Islam—Facts or Dreams? - Imprimis:
"In 1993 I was a seasoned federal prosecutor, but I only knew as much about Islam as the average American with a reasonably good education—which is to say, not much.
Consequently, when I was assigned to lead the prosecution of a terrorist cell that had bombed the World Trade Center and was plotting an even more devastating strike—simultaneous attacks on the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, the United Nations complex on the East River, and the FBI’s lower Manhattan headquarters—I had no trouble believing what our government was saying: that we should read nothing into the fact that all the men in this terrorist cell were Muslims; that their actions were not representative of any religion or belief system; and that to the extent they were explaining their atrocities by citing Islamic scripture, they were twisting and perverting one of the world’s great religions, a religion that encourages peace.
...Unlike commentators and government press secretaries, I had to examine these claims...
One of the first things I learned concerned the leader of the terror cell, Omar Abdel Rahman, infamously known as the Blind Sheikh.
Our government was portraying him as a wanton killer who was lying about Islam by preaching that it summoned Muslims to jihad or holy war.
Far from a lunatic, however, he turned out to be a globally renowned scholar—a doctor of Islamic jurisprudence who graduated from al-Azhar University in Cairo, the seat of Sunni Islamic learning for over a millennium.
His area of academic expertise was sharia—Islamic law.
I immediately began to wonder why American officials from President Bill Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno on down, officials who had no background in Muslim doctrine and culture, believed they knew more about Islam than the Blind Sheikh.
Then something else dawned on me: the Blind Sheikh was not only blind; he was beset by several other medical handicaps.
That seemed relevant.
After all, terrorism is hard work.
Here was a man incapable of doing anything that would be useful to a terrorist organization—he couldn’t build a bomb, hijack a plane, or carry out an assassination.
Yet he was the unquestioned leader of the terror cell.
Was this because there was more to his interpretation of Islamic doctrine than our government was conceding?
...When he said the scriptures command that Muslims strike terror into the hearts of Islam’s enemies, the scriptures backed him up..."

"For decades, the country of South Africa was the focus of an international rallying cry against the injustices of apartheid.
On June 17, 1991, South Africa's Parliament abolished the legal framework for the practice of racial persecution.

The international community looked away, satisfied that justice had prevailed.
They continue to look away, even as South Africa has degenerated into another racist pit, best described by an Afrikaner farm owner: "It's politically correct to kill whites these days."
In July of 2012, Dr. Gregory Stanton, head of the nonprofit group Genocide Watch, conducted a fact-finding mission in South Africa.
He concluded that there is a coordinated campaign of genocide being conducted against white farmers, known as Boers.

This decision was apparently controversial: An apologetic note from The Middlebury Campus's editor-in-chief revealed that "most of the section editors, and the managing editor" thought it would be inappropriate to print a photo of Murray.

Complicated and outrageous!-----Center for Security Policy | The Real Russia Story: Port Canaveral “Project Pelican” and Uranium One deals connected through the Jafars
Center for Security Policy | The Real Russia Story: Port Canaveral “Project Pelican” and Uranium One deals connected through the Jafars:
"Gulftainer is connected to the Uranium One deal.
Gulftainer is the Iraqi Jafar family’s UAE-based ports company that is tightly connected to Russia and Saddam Hussein’s nuclear weapons programs.
In 2014 the Obama administration awarded Gulftainer a 35-year lease to Florida’s Port Canaveral cargo container terminal in a secret deal code-named “Project Pelican.”
Jafars partner with Russia’s Inter RAO UES, a subsidiary of Rosatom, majority owner of Uranium One
In 2011, Gulftainer affiliate Crescent Investments partnered via a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Russia’s state-owned power station operator and electricity import-export monopoly Inter RAO UES.
At that time, Inter RAO UES was a subsidiary of Russia’s Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation.
Rosatom is the Russian company that purchased Uranium One.
The Russian government’s military industrial complex, petroleum industry, electrical power grid, nuclear energy sector, and nuclear weapons complex, are all components of a giant web of state-controlled enterprises.
Their business structures may routinely shift like the sand dunes in a desert, but these key sectors always remain under the control of Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin.
...Bill and Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation are tied to both Gulftainer’s “Project Pelican” deal and to the Uranium One deal.
Breitbart reported on October 17, 2017:
“Hillary Clinton’s State Department was one of eight agencies to review and sign off on the sale of U.S. uranium to Russia.
However, the then-Secretary of State Clinton was the only agency head whose family foundation received $145 million in donations from multiple people connected to the uranium deal, as reported by the New York Times.”
...Why?
This jaw-droppingly stunning breach of U.S national security by the Obama administration – placing Gulftainer “inside the wire” at Port Canaveral at a U.S. defense and space nerve center, with a cargo container terminal lease, while knowing about Gulftainer’s joint venture with Russia’s exporter of an advanced weapons system – is well beyond “boneheaded.”
Considering that
As our FBI used to say….”There are no coincidences.”

But I sadly think that most young people are gonna say, ‘Yeah, man. The ChiComs, they’ve got it right. LIBERTY REVIEW:
https://libertyreview76.blogspot.com/2018/03/circle-of-history-by-tammy-derouin-im.html
Just like there is a circle of life,
there is a circle of history. In life, we start out fully dependent
on others to care for us. At some point, usually in our advanced
years, we once again rely on the help of others to care for some of
our needs. Due to our natural independent mindset, there's always
hope that assistance will be minimal.

Circle of History
By Tammy Derouin
I'm curious, how much does it take to
destroy ourselves? The human species is the most developed, most
intelligent of all the species on the planet, yet we are the only
ones actively working to destroy ourselves.
Our history also takes on a circular
pattern. We began as free individuals, screwed up royally, got
kicked out of paradise and then became enslaved by the rule of man
throughout most of our history. The Magna Carta began the process,
the revolutionary thought, that man could live free. The brilliance
and courage of our Founding Fathers, who dared to stand up to
tyranny, drafted another revolutionary document, The Declaration of
Independence. They fought and won independence for themselves and
all future Americans. They then listed our God-given rights, put the
people in charge of the government and charged the government with
protecting the rights of the people. What a revolutionary event!
Man walked out of darkness and took control of his destiny.
The founders were keenly aware of man's
desire to control man so after listing some pretty basic rights in
the First Amendment, they added the enforcer by way of the Second
Amendment. Our U.S. Constitution is a document of liberty. It
guarantees freedom and paved a path toward freedom for those who were
still enslaved at the time of its creation.
Why are we allowing our freedoms to be
placed on the chopping block? If you think it's for security, you
are being duped.......

"To accomplish gun control, leftists are citing bogus evidence and carefully choosing which tragedies to exploit.--Jordan Candler

Democrats are so perturbed by the Second Amendment that they are resorting to the distribution of fraudulent data.
For example, during a recent congressional meeting with President Donald Trump, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) presented findings from professor Louis Klarevas, whose analysis points to a homicide-through-mass-shooting reduction rate of 37% between 1994 and 2004 — when the 10-year Federal Assault Weapons Ban Feinstein championed was in effect.
Even if we ignore the reality that this claim is an extreme outlier — it has virtually no peer backing — there are still some major issues with Klarevas’ assessment.
According to Ars Technica co-founder Jon Stokes:
There are few actual “assault weapons” of any type in his dataset, either pre- or post-ban. Klarevas and his allies are taking an apparent drop in fatalities from what are mostly handgun shootings (again, pre-ban as well as post) and attributing this lowered body count to the 1994 legislation. … Had Klarevas chosen a “mass shooting” threshold of five fatalities instead of six, then the dramatic pause he notes in mass shootings between 1994 to 1999 would disappear too.“
Columnist Burt Prelutsky makes a cogent point when he observed, "Those on the Left seem to view all murders through a prism of their propaganda value.”
There is no better example than the Left’s demonization of so-called “assault weapons.”
Back to Stokes’ point about handguns, they are the primary tool by which homicides are inflicted. According to the FBI’s Crime in the United States data, “Handguns comprised 64.6 percent of the firearms used in murder and nonnegligent manslaughter incidents in 2016.”

More precisely, of the 11,004 homicides by firearm that year, 7,105 involved a handgun, whereas just 374 — or 0.03% — involved a rifle of any type.
You read that right.
In fact, the number of homicides committed with rifles is outpaced by “blunt objects,” which accounted for 472 murders in 2016.
The bottom line?
Rifles unfairly get most of the flak despite criminals’ relatively rare use of them..."

They do this via the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program.
This program by the Federal government provides money to businesses that discriminate against American citizens in favor of immigrant ones.
...According to the CIS, this program was used to scrape $2 billion from the Federal tax pool to give to businesses that hire 240,000 alien college graduates in favor of American graduates.
This is done by giving any business that hires a foreign student that has graduated from a US post-secondary institution an 8.25% tax break.

The CIS explains how this number was calculated:
The subsidies to hire the foreign alumni are extracted from the Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment Insurance Program trust funds and were estimated to be in the area of $1.155 billion in that article. It is now clear that in FY 2017 the total subsidies came to something like $1.98 billion, or close to $2 billion.

The program, as we noted earlier, has had silent but bipartisan support; it was created by the Bush II administration without any congressional authorization, was subsequently expanded by the Obama administration, and has been tolerated by the Trump administration..."

"...There was a time not so long ago when journalists were trusted and admired.
We were generally seen as trying to report the news in a fair and straightforward manner.
Today, all that has changed.
For that, we can blame the 2016 election or, more accurately, how some news organizations chose to cover it.
Among the many firsts, last year’s election gave us the gobsmacking revelation that most of the mainstream media puts both thumbs on the scale—that most of what you read, watch, and listen to is distorted by intentional bias and hostility.
I have never seen anything like it.
Not even close.
It’s not exactly breaking news that most journalists lean left.
I used to do that myself.
I grew up at The New York Times, so I’m familiar with the species.
For most of the media, bias grew out of the social revolution of the 1960s and ’70s.
Fueled by the civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements, the media jumped on the anti-authority bandwagon writ large.
The deal was sealed with Watergate, when journalism was viewed as more trusted than government—and far more exciting and glamorous.
Think Robert Redford in All the President’s Men.
Ever since, young people became journalists because they wanted to be the next Woodward and Bernstein, find a Deep Throat, and bring down a president.
Of course, most of them only wanted to bring down a Republican president.
That’s because liberalism is baked into the journalism cake..."
...Nations without economic liberty usually have little or no dissent.
That’s not a coincidence.
In this, I’m reminded of an enduring image from the Occupy Wall Street movement.
That movement was a pestilence, egged on by President Obama and others who view other people’s wealth as a crime against the common good.
This attitude was on vivid display as the protesters held up their iPhones to demand the end of capitalism.
As I wrote at the time, did they believe Steve Jobs made each and every Apple product one at a time in his garage?
Did they not have a clue about how capital markets make life better for more people than any other system known to man?
They had no clue.
And neither do many government officials, who think they can kill the golden goose and still get golden eggs..."
Lots here, read it all!

Why Aren’t Mueller, the FBI and DOJ Interested in Illegal Actions That Might Alter Our Elections? | The Heritage Foundation
Why Aren’t Mueller, the FBI and DOJ Interested in Illegal Actions That Might Alter Our Elections? | The Heritage Foundation:
"announcing the recent indictments against Russians brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told the American people that “there is no allegation in this indictment that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity. There is no allegation in the indictment that the charged conduct altered the outcome of the 2016 election.”
That was good news. The bad news is that the special counsel, the FBI, and the Department of Justice don’t seem interested in illegal actions that may actually affect the outcome of U.S. elections.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) sued Pennsylvania on Monday for concealing numerous cases of noncitizens registering to vote. One Pennsylvania election official testified before the state Legislature that an estimated 100,000 noncitizens are registered in the commonwealth."

Robert Reich's F Minus In Economics: False Facts, False Theories
Robert Reich's F Minus In Economics: False Facts, False Theories:
"I am appalled by the economic illiteracy encountered in leading newspapers, business magazines, and prominent web sites (the news section of the Wall Street Journal is no exception).
Robert Reich’s Higher Wages Can Save America’s Economy – and Its Democracy (Salon.com) is only one of many examples.
As a teacher of economics for over forty years and a co-author of a best-selling 1980s economics 101 textbook, I would have given Reich’s paper a resounding F, if he had submitted it for my elementary economics class.
...As a frequent TV pundit, author of 13 books, Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley no less, and self-identified as “one of the nation’s leading experts on work and the economy,” many readers will automatically believe his economic nonsense.
...Reich’s resume raises one red flag: He is not an economist but a lawyer – a Yale Law School classmate of Hillary Clinton...
...My F grade is also not based on Reich’s politics, which are quite different from my own.
I award it instead for Reich’s incorrect facts and his embarrassing misunderstanding of basic issues about which economists agree.
Reich’s basic complaint in his Higher Wages Can Save America’s Economy – and Its Democracy is that “monied interests” have forgotten the century-old “basic bargain at the heart of America” that employers pay their employees enough to buy what they are selling...
...Reich’s “forgotten bargain” is actually a hackneyed reprise of Karl Marx.
In Das Kapital Marx warned of crises of overproduction and under consumption.
...Reich dates the “basic bargain” back to Henry Ford.
Henry Ford announced in 1914 that he would pay workers on his Model T assembly line $5 a day – three times what the typical factory employee earned at the time.
Ford, according to Reich, took this step because he understood that the higher wage would turn Ford’s auto workers into customers for his Model T’s.
...Ford’s $5 wage to convert his workers into Model T customers is an urban legend that thinking economist dismiss as nonsense.
...Ford raised the wage to $5 because labor productivity was soaring, not because he wanted to create customers.
In 1909, his assembly line produced one Model T at his Highland Park plant every 12 hours. By 1914, it had fallen to one car every 96 minutes, and by 1920 to one Model T a minute. (See Henry Ford and the Model T: A Case Study in Productivity).
Ford could afford to pay auto workers producing one car a minute much more than those producing a car every twelve hours.
He also expanded his market by passing productivity gains on to customers.
The Model T’s price fell from $825 in 1908 to $360 in 1916.
With generally rising wages and a falling price, Ford became one of the richest men of his era..."
