The F-35 Could Become a 'Navy' Killer (Thanks to Norway) | The National Interest Blog

The F-35 Could Become a 'Navy' Killer (Thanks to Norway) | The National Interest Blog:
"In the mid 2000s, the Royal Norwegian Navy was looking to select a new anti-ship missile (ASM) to equip their ships.
Image result for Nytt sjømÃ¥lsmissilThey looked at all foreign offerings, didn’t find any missile satisfactory, and instead drew up their own set of requirements.
The requirements were: to meet the challenges of a future (up to 2040) ship-to-ship combat environment; to have a high probability of penetrating enemy air defense and countermeasures; to be effective in confined and open waters; and to be easily adaptable to different platforms.
From these requirements, Kongsberg Defense drew up the NSM, or Nytt sjømålsmissil.
The name “Naval Strike Missile” was only attached later for English marketing purposes.
...The NSM is being considered for the Over-the-Horizon Weapon System (OTH-WS) competition, to replace the aging Harpoon—which is being phased out.
...The NSM has also been adapted into the joint strike missile (JSM), an air-launched cruise missile system designed to fit inside the internal weapons bay of the F-35..."

Our Over-Controlled Society is Damaging Children’s Social Skills | Intellectual Takeout
Image result for helicopter parenting"Have you ever wondered what happened to the days when children could roam through the neighborhood, building forts in empty lots, walking to the store a half mile away, and inventing all sorts of games to play up and down the block?
According to Angela Hanscom’s column in today’s Washington Post, well-intentioned caution has caused adults to exert a damaging overabundance of control on children’s time.
“Most children today are spending a majority of their time indoors and under the direct supervision of adults. We are dictating how children spend every waking hour both in school and outside of school. Even their play opportunities are often regulated and controlled by well-meaning adults. Hour-long recess sessions have been reduced to 20-minute rule-infested movement opportunities...
Hanscom, a pediatric occupational therapist, believes that such control is damaging children’s social behaviors and attitudes, for they increasingly exhibit negative qualities such as:
  • Entitlement
  • Dependence
  • Inability to resolve conflict
  • Lack of confidence

No, we didn’t ‘owe’ Iran that $1.7 billion ransom payment

No, we didn’t ‘owe’ Iran that $1.7 billion ransom payment:
"Amid all the fuss over President Obama’s “ransom” payment to Iran to free US hostages, less scrutinized is the president’s justification for airlifting cash to Tehran: that we owed them the money. It deserves more attention, because the administration has failed to make its case.
Image result for obama bowing to iranTo review: On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Obama administration not only paid $400 million in cash to Iran on Jan. 17, but $1.3 billion more in cash in two subsequent shipments — all in Swiss francs, euros and other currencies.
The administration claims the payments were returning money Iran paid in 1979 under the Foreign Military Sales program for military equipment it ordered but did not receive, plus interest.
It’s a misdirection.
And as Congress returns from its recess, it’s time to focus on two key questions the administration has been refusing to answer ever since the beginning of the year: How was the payment calculated, and was it really due?...

The Washington Post described the ruling as "an important outcome for business interests."
The decision could make life much harder for unions fighting for better conditions and wages.

Kayak Tax Proponents Try to Disguise Cash Grab as Safety Measure [Mackinac Center]

Kayak Tax Proponents Try to Disguise Cash Grab as Safety Measure [Mackinac Center]:
"...Last fall, some Michigan sheriffs began calling for a new tax on nonmotorized watercraft like kayaks, canoes and paddleboards.
They say that requiring Michiganders to register these boats will generate needed revenue.
See the source imageAlthough both the House and Senate have passed resolutions opposing the “kayak tax,” some proponents of the tax haven’t given up on getting it passed.
Detroit News columnist Daniel Howes describes how to overcome this apparent defeat by using a different tack: “the tax-the-paddlers crowd might have a more compelling argument if the proceeds from the registration fees were earmarked for safety training.”
...Attempting to recast this naked cash grab as a public health and safety measure is misguided.
If there really is a problem with funding Michigan’s water-related infrastructure or first-response teams, it certainly won’t be resolved by creating a new and totally unprecedented tax on the more than 600,000 people just trying to enjoy Michigan’s great outdoors..."

Most recently, Border Patrol revealed to Breitbart Texas that an MS-13 gang member traveling with a caravan of 1,200 Central Americans posed as an unaccompanied minor to gain entry to the U.S.
An explosive report by Breitbart News reported that nearly 100 MS-13 gang members had been resettled across the country by the federal government as unaccompanied minors. Nearly 65 of those gang members were granted Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJ), which acts as a quasi-amnesty program for young illegal aliens who cross the southern border."

There Are Fewer School Shootings Now Than During the 1990s | Mises Wire

There Are Fewer School Shootings Now Than During the 1990s | Mises Wire:
"...when it comes to things like homicides, there is no evidence that things are getting worse.
It is indeed true that things aren't like they were "when we were kids," but that's a good thing.
There were far more homicides in the United States during the 1980s and 1990s than there are today.
Things were even worse than that during the 1970s.
In fact, the homicide rate in the US was cut in half between 1991 and 2014.
And while the homicide rate has inched up over the past two years, it is nowhere near where it was "when we were kids."
homicide1 (1).png
For anyone familiar with these trends, it should not be a shock to hear that a subset of those homicides — school shootings — have decreased over that period as well.
In response to the latest shooting in Florida, Northeastern University released a preview of new research by James Alan Fox slated for publication this fall which shows, quite clearly, that there is no growing trend in school shootings.
The university notes:
...Their research also finds that shooting incidents involving students have been declining since the 1990s. Four times the number of children were killed in schools in the early 1990s than today, Fox said.  “There is not an epidemic of school shootings,” he said, adding that more kids are killed each year from pool drownings or bicycle accidents. There are around 55 million school children in the United States, and on average over the past 25 years, about 10 students per year were killed by gunfire at school, according to Fox and Fridel’s research...

Kanye West Threatens the Democratic Party's Hold on Black Americans:

Image result for Democrat Donkey"The bottom-line sin that West has committed is questioning the hegemony of the Democratic Party among black Americans. The backlash has been so bad that West had to hire personal security to protect him against threats made against his life. Fortunately, the police are investigating those threats.
West is not saying anything different from what Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Jason Riley, I, and other black libertarians/conservatives have been saying for decades.
In fact, West has tweeted quotations from Sowell, such as “Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it” and “The most basic question is not what is best but who shall decide what is best.” Tweeting those Sowell quotations represents the highest order of blasphemy in the eyes of leftists."

Only a capitalist country as rich as ours could survive what its capitalists are doing to it.

"13 Animalistic Crimes Committed Against Americans by The Savages Known As MS-13
When President Trump referred to MS-13 gang members as “animals,” this week, the mainstream media, left-wing pundits, and Democrats were outraged by the statement.
Not at what MS-13 does to people, but at Trump for calling them animals.
Go figure.
The unstable and not-right in the head Nancy Pelosi slammed Trump’s attack on MS-13 gang members, saying, “Does he not believe in the spark of divinity, the dignity and worth of every person?”
Multiple media pundits, including the Washington Post‘s Jennifer Rubin, defended MS-13 gang members against Trump’s “animals” remark, calling the statement “disgusting” and attacking Evangelical Trump supporters. Similarly, NBC, ABC, the NY Times and a host of others repeated the lie. Only the Associated Press was forced to apologize for falsely claiming that Trump was referring to illegal aliens when he made the “animals” remark.
So why not show just a small sample of what these savages do to Americans and... keep in mind, many are in this country Illegally while they're doing this!
1. MS-13 Pimp Ordered Baseball Bat Beating of Underage ‘Prostitute’
Prosecutors in Montgomery County, Maryland, charged a known MS-13 leader for ordering the beating of a 15-year-old girl with a baseball bat who had been forced into prostitution. Two other Salvadoran nationals are also named in the case. Law enforcement officials said that Miguel Angel “Noctorno” Ayala-Rivera, a 24-year-old MS-13 member who illegally entered the U.S. from El Salvador, ordered his fellow gang members to beat a 15-year-old girl with a baseball bat. “Noctorno” reportedly pimped out the victim along with other underage girls. http://www.breitbart.com/…/ms-13-pimp-ordered-baseball-bat…/

Phony scandals are those that do not have a smidgeon of evidence of a crime, like alleged Trump collusion with the Russians or obstruction of an investigation that was never stopped or even slowed down. "In response to the rise of the alt-right in social media circles, leftist media watchdogs are claiming to suffer from “Digital PTSD” from having to cover these extremists.
An article published in The Outline consisted of a female leftist journalist whining about the trauma caused to her after attending the infamous “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, VA last year that turned into a deadly riot.

  • She claims to have developed post-traumatic stress disorder. “I was diagnosed with PTSD two days after I got back from Virginia. In the weeks and months that followed, I experienced flashbacks, nightmares, insomnia, dissociation, chronic body pain, and severe depression and anxiety — symptoms that interfered with my work reporting on fascists, but that were triggered by it, too. Every time I looked up photos of protesters clashing with neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, or videos of the car attack, it was like I was back on that street corner,” journalist Erin Corbett wrote.
  • Noor Al-Sibai, who works as a staff writer for Raw Story, also claims she suffers from PTSD from being at the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville last year. Considering she is a Muslim, that makes her even more of a victim than her white counterpart. “When I was on the clock, I don’t even think I could identify [the triggers],” she said. “It was very much a blur. I’m missing some of that time,” said Al-Sibai, who claims she suffered blackouts as a result from the trauma. She “sat in a parking lot crying” after the event commenced.
