The Difference in How Socialism and Free Markets Work in the Real World

The Difference in How Socialism and Free Markets Work in the Real World:

Image result for Declaration of IndependenceIf the future of the nation were a function of logic, then conservatives would have a very easy job.
No debate would be needed, really. In the choice between the two competing models Judeo-Christian civilization has given us, with socialist arguments for “big government” on the one side and a market-oriented system that favors the freedoms of the individual over the powers of the state on the other, there would be no contest.
In fact, it would indeed be a formal “no contest,” as only one of the models has ever been realized in the real world in which we live.

"...The report revealed that usage rates among adults continue to rise.

Despite relatively inspiring data surrounding adolescent usage, the report still notes serious concerns regarding marijuana in homes with children.
...About 5.5 percent of homes with children reported marijuana being smoked inside, meaning an estimated 32,800 homes contained possible secondhand marijuana smoke..."

"Little Miss Occasional Cortex removed her House Resolution, Green New Deal and the FAQ page which accompanied it.
She's now claiming that some of its more outlandish provisions - welfare for those who are unwilling to work, eventual elimination of air travel, implementation of socialized medicine, higher-ed and more - were cooked up by Republican detractors.
NPR evidently did not get the memo right away.
Their website is still proudly sporting links to the initial release, the update on Thursday and the FAQ Page.
They may be taken down shortly so I've downloaded them and secured them on my file storage/share - here's the link. https://app.box.com/s/29llii12zcb73aob5thulcjz2bp7ncyr
Here's the NPR page on which these pdf's are still provided as of 10:30 Sat evening (Mountain time) https://www.npr.org/…/rep-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-releases…

Green New Deal Demands 'Economic Security' for Americans 'Unwilling to Work' | Breitbart

Green New Deal Demands 'Economic Security' for Americans 'Unwilling to Work' | Breitbart:
Image result for free clip art Relaxing
The U.S. has long had programs, private and public, to assist those unable to work. But it has never embraced the idea that the role of the government included guaranteeing economic security for those who are unwilling to work.
In fact, traditional American liberalism regarded full employment as its goal because of the importance of work to society and the individual.

Climate hypochondria and tribalism vs. ‘winning’ | Watts Up With That?

  • Climate hypochondria

First, the climate hypochondriacs.
Some people (including one of the Members) took issue with the following statement in my testimony:
“Based upon our current assessment of the science, the threat does not seem to be an existential one on the time scale of the 21st century, even in its most alarming incarnation.”
I referred to AR5 WGII:
“Every single catastrophic scenario considered by the IPCC AR5 (WGII, Table 12.4) has a rating of very unlikely or exceptionally unlikely and/or has low confidence. The only tipping point that the IPCC considers likely in the 21st century is disappearance of Arctic summer sea ice (which is fairly reversible, since sea ice freezes every winter).”
In hindsight, I should have hit this a bit harder.
See my previous posts:
The IPCC AR5 refers to ‘reasons for concern.’  I won’t rehash my previous posts here, take a look.
Thinking that catastrophes like major hurricane landfalls, massive forest fires etc. will be ‘cured’ by eliminating fossil fuel emissions is laughable.
Well its not really funny.
Thinking that eliminating fossil fuel emissions will ‘solve’ the problem of extreme weather events is very sad, sort of on the level of doing rain dances.
Every thing that goes wrong, they blame on fossil fuel driven climate change.
Imagine how surprised they would be if we were ever to be successful at eliminating fossil fuel emissions, and then we still had bad weather!

Ocasio-Cortez calls to abolish ICE, says Latinos must be exempt from immigration laws because they are 'Native' to US | Fox News
"New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday vowed to defund U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and said all Latino people must be exempt from immigration laws because they are “native” to U.S. lands as they are descendants of Native people.
Ocasio-Cortez: "We are standing on Native land, and Latino people are descendants of Native people. And we cannot be told and criminalized simply for our identity and our status."...

And then, we had the case of the Governor of Virginia where he basically stated he would execute a baby after birth," the president said during his Tuesday speech.
Christopher’s article is rife with debatable opinions, but two paragraphs in particular stand out as particularly questionable:

College Newspaper Says 'White Boys' Should Not Be 'Allowed To Talk' | Daily Wire
Man with tape over his mouth."Leda Fisher, a senior and self-identified "black girl" at Dickinson College, whines about "white boys" in her higher education years "incessantly" speaking about issues and sharing their opinions, in a piece titled, "Should White Boys Still Be Allowed to Talk?
The piece was published on Thursday at the student newspaper, The Dickinsonian.
School administration addressed the severe backlash to the openly racist piece on Friday in an email underscoring their position to uphold free speech and condemned prejudice.
"American society tells men, but especially white men, that their opinions have merit and that their voice is valuable, but after four years of listening to white boys in college, I am not so convinced," asserts Fisher in the piece..."

Cis-lesbian fired for misgendering a trans-male rapist

Cis-lesbian fired for misgendering a trans-male rapist:
"The LGBTQ Commission for the mayor of Baltimore has just fired its only lesbian member, Julia Beck, for using male pronouns while referring to a convicted male rapist who wanted to be addressed as a female.
Finding such behavior disgraceful, her former LGBTQ comrades have also denounced her and purged her from their ranks.
The male convict in question had earlier courageously declared himself a transgendered woman, for which he was cheered on by the progressive local establishment and sent to a female prison.
Shortly afterwards he deployed his gender-fluid trans-penis to rape two cisgendered female inmates - a "crime" that he, a self-identified oppressed lesbian who is attracted to other women, can hardly be accused of.
The real crime here, of course, was the denial of his chosen gender identity by the knuckle-dragging, close-minded, reactionary traitor to womankind, Julia Beck..."

Iran Deal: Donald Trump’s Sanctions Have Worked | National Review:

Trump’s JCPOA withdrawal did not lead to war with Iran, as many critics predicted. Instead, Iran is far more isolated than it was when President Trump assumed office. The United States has worked to unite its Middle East allies, especially Israel and Saudi Arabia, against Iran and, in Warsaw this month, will co-chair an international conference with Poland on the threat from Iran. Iran’s economy is under unprecedented pressure thanks to reimposed U.S. sanctions, especially oil sanctions, with negative 1.5 percent growth in 2018 and an expected negative 3.6 percent growth in 2019. Iran’s current year-on-year inflation rate through last month was 40 percent.

Green New Deal: "Air Travel Stops Becoming Necessary" | Americans for Tax Reform

Green New Deal: "Air Travel Stops Becoming Necessary" | Americans for Tax Reform
"TRep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez released an overview of the Democrat “Green New Deal” which threatens "a massive transformation of our society."
Below are the details of the proposal.
  • Rebuild every single building in the U.S.
“Upgrade or replace every building in US for state-of-the-art energy efficiency.”
  • Will end all traditional forms of energy in the next ten years.
Image result for Green New Deal memeThe Green New Deal is “a 10-year plan to mobilize every aspect of American society at a scale not seen since World War 2 to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.”
  • Plans to ban nuclear energy within 10 years if possible.
“It’s unclear if we will be able to decommission every nuclear plant within 10 years, but the plan is to transition off of nuclear and all fossil fuels as soon as possible.”
  • Build trains across oceans and end all air travel!
“Build out highspeed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary”.
  • Don’t invest in new technology of Carbon Capture and Storage, just plant trees instead!
“We believe the right way to capture carbon is to plant trees and restore our natural ecosystems. CCUS technology to date has not proven effective.”
  • Mandates all new jobs be unionized.
“Ensure that all GND jobs are union jobs that pay prevailing wages and hire local.”
