In an interview with Fox News’ Bill Hemmer, Carson was asked about the removal of statues of historical figures such as Christopher Columbus and Thomas Jefferson, to which he responded by saying it is “rather silly” and described why he thinks they should remain standing.
Hemmer also mentioned Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s decision to have four paintings of former Speakers who served in the Confederacy removed from the U.S. Capitol.
This is because even with more training, no military gear, or restricting the police to a fewer selection of services, there is still the matter of what happens when a police officer has behaved poorly.
What kind of consequences do they face?
Unfortunately, police officers usually face little to no legal consequences.
Police officers are rarely fired, rarely charged with a crime, and rarely convicted of a crime. All other factors resolved, this would still present an incentive for excessive use of force.

Rioters in Portland, Oregon, toppled a nearly 100-year-old George Washington statue Thursday night. Before tearing the monument down, activists burned American flags and spray-painted the words "BLM" for Black Lives Matter and "genocidal colonist" on the statue.
About 30 to 40 activists gathered at the George Washington statue, located on the lawn of the German American Society in northeast Portland, at 11 p.m. Thursday. The statue of the first U.S. president was spray-painted with graffiti, including "Big Floyd" for George Floyd, "f*** cops," "white fragility," and "1619," a reference to the New York Times "project" that argues that "no part of America has been untouched by slavery."

Brooks was shot dead.
On Thursday Officer Rolfe’s stepmother was fired from her job as HR Director at Equity Prime Mortgage in Atlanta, Georgia. She was fired for being Officer Rolfe’s stepmother.

Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo referred to the COVID crisis in his state’s nursing homes as a “shiny object,” chalking criticisms aimed at him up to politics.
Cuomo was one of five Democratic governors who ordered nursing homes to accept patients regardless of their COVID status — the others being Phil Murphy (New Jersey), Gretchen Whitmer (Michigan), Tom Wolf (Pennsylvania) and Gavin Newsom (California) — despite federal recommendations advising against that.

Certainly, Republicans in Congress appear to believe all of this -- or maybe they're just so scared, they pretend they believe it.
Either way, just Wednesday, the GOP leadership enthusiastically backed a Law Enforcement Reform Bill.
They're proud of that.
They seem to think that reining in the police will fix the underlying problems.
And pretty soon, we can all get back to living in 2014 again.
Republicans appear to believe this is a policy debate. Is anyone in power defending absolute equality under the law? If there was ever a time to remind America that we all have equal value under God, that time is right now.
But no.
No one in charge is saying that.
Our leaders are cowards when we need them to be brave.
They are muddled when we need them to think clearly.

The Sun's Grand Minimum In a Pandemic World
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, more people worldwide are seeking to relocate away from dense cities and urban regions; however I caution those planning to move to consider exactly 'where' that location will be. The reason is global cooling and the Sun's Grand Minimum which will be with the world into the early 2050s.
Running away from a big city because of the pandemic is a bigger gamble than it might seem due to the fact that as the Earth continues to cool with more cloud coverage as the Sun goes deeper into its quiescent phase, you and your family could be walking into a trap.
Be not misled, an urban ice age IS coming.
I have predicted it for years and we are now in the early phases of it with confirmation coming from the weather events of 2017, 2018 and 2019 - the torrential rains and floods along with increasing cloud coverage; irregular seasons and radical temperature fluctuations.
It is going to get worse too.
I caution those leaving New York City and heading into the New England states that you are heading into a region that will experience some of the worst weather of global cooling under the Sun's Grand Minimum.
