Ketanji Brown Jackson Accidentally Reveals She 'Fundamentally Misunderstands the Role of a Supreme Court Justice'

Civil liberties attorney Laura Powell suggested Jackson might want to try a different career if she’s interested in pursuing that course.

“Maybe she should have become an influencer instead of a Supreme Court justice,” Powell wrote

This Is Peak Government... David Strom

It sounded like a great idea.
Governor Andrew Cuomo...convinced state lawmakers to shell out over $100 million to purchase decorative LED lights to enhance the beauty of some of New York's most iconic bridges...
Underneath it all, the project wasn't a bad idea.
Beautify the city a bit, right?
Not everything has to be stolid, brutalist, and inhuman.
Except...

  • Spending the money was the point, not actually beautifying the city...

The fact the State Dept. can’t go through a two percent staff reduction without making a scene and patting each other on the back about fighting “fascism” should be nauseating to normal people.

1.OSHA Vaccine Mandate — Tried forcing vaccines on 80 million workers without Congress.
2.Disinformation Board — Created a government body to police free speech.
3.Student Loan Forgiveness — Attempted massive debt cancellation by executive fiat, stick taxpayers with the bill.
4.Targeting Opponents — Weaponized DOJ and FBI against political adversaries.
5.IRS Surveillance Plan — Pushed to monitor $600 bank transactions of Americans.
6.Labeling Parents as Threats — Used anti-terror laws to intimidate school board critics.
7.Equity Executive Orders — Forced racist and discriminatory DEI mandates across the entire federal government.

Dems accused of protecting child-labor rackets after California ICE raid * WorldNetDaily * by Bob Unruh

Democrats have erupted in rage at a raid on a California marijuana farm operation by agents for the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement but are facing backlash because the operation was caught exploiting children for its labor. A report at the Hill said the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that undocumented minors were found working at the cannabis scheme in the raid.

Making PJM all wind and solar would cost over $2.4 trillion in battery backup

I keep reading how big batteries are all it takes to make wind and solar reliable as the sole grid electricity source. - David Wojick
  • The reality is that making wind and solar work at all requires a fantastic amount of battery backup, far more than is possible.
Below is an example using the PJM grid.
PJM is America’s biggest grid operator, with a territory covering the Mid-Atlantic and points west...
My example year is 2030, as that is a standard near-term transition target year for which we have reasonable estimates of peak demand.
Here then are the very simple numbers.
  • PJM’s estimate peak demand for 2030 is about 180,000 MW.
  • Meeting that for 16 hours with batteries requires 2,880,000 MWh of usable storage.
  • Usable storage is between 20% and 80% of nameplate battery capacity, hence 60%.
  • Thus we need 4,800,000 MWh of nameplate battery capacity.
  • Storage facility capital costs vary, but $500,000 per MWh is a reasonable estimate.
  • This gives a total cost of $2.4 trillion, or $2,400,000,000,000, for the batteries to make wind and solar reliable in this case.
This fantastic cost is clearly not feasible...

The Big Beautiful Bill Gives Some of Higher Ed’s Ugliest Problems a Makeover

This law does so much that major provisions—like the elimination of Grad PLUS loans—that would’ve made headlines on their own are now easy to overlook. - Andrew Gillen
To help make sense of it all, here’s my take on the best and worst parts of the new law.
  • What are the Best Provisions in the Law?
The new law has five big improvements.
One, it eliminated Grad PLUS loans. Grad PLUS was the worst of the loan programs...Taxpayers lost tons of money on the loans, around 24 cents for every dollar lent...
Two, Parent PLUS loans now have maximum caps. Parent borrowing was previously limited only by the college’s cost of attendance, but will now be capped at $20,000 per year...
Three, a new income-driven student loan repayment plan was created...
  • What are the Worst Provisions in the Law?
My biggest concerns about the law concern the new repayment assistance plan (RAP) for student loans. RAP largely mimics the payment burdens of the Obama-era REPAYE plan.
But it contains two features that worry me: it waives any unpaid interest, and it guarantees that a borrower’s principal will be reduced by at least $50 per month when they make the required monthly payment...

Harry Enten:
'Are Americans afraid of climate change? And the answer is, Americans aren't afraid of climate change. Climate activists have not successfully made the case to the American people.
'We have data going all the way back since 1989 [showing who is greatly worried about climate change]. Look at that, it was 35 percent. 2000, 40 percent. 2020, 46 percent. And 2025, 40 percent -- which is the exact same percentage as back in 2000.'
