Mark Schlissel to be inaugurated as University of Michigan's 14th president today | MLive.com:
Schlissel's reign as U-M's president officially began on July 14 when he succeeded Mary Sue Coleman, who retired after 12 years as the head of the university, but the inauguration will serve as his formal inception and introduction to the university community and academic community worldwide.
.....The second symposium, scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until noon, will focus on "Privacy and Identity in a Hyperconnected Society."
Alessandro Acquisti – a Carnegie Mellon University professor, and internationally renowned speaker and expert on the behavioral economics of privacy in social networks – will lead that discussion.
The installation ceremony at Hill Auditorium will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a formal processional that will include hundreds of delegates from colleges and universities in Michigan, across the nation and around the world.
They will join members of the Board of Regents, university deans and executive officers, and U-M faculty members.
.....Lorna G. Goodison, professor of English, and Afroamerican and African Studies, will read an original poem she has written for the occasion.
