"LANSING – More than 90% of Michigan voters say the state's roads are in lousy shape and a plurality are ready to pay more to fix them — with a one percentage point hike in the 6% sales tax being the most preferred funding option, according to a new poll.But the importance of fixing the roads relative to other issues has slipped since spring, when Michigan's potholes were at their worst after a bitter winter, EPIC-MRA of Lansing found in a poll released exclusively to the Free Press, WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and their statewide media polling partners.
Improving the roads ranked third in importance, just behind improving school funding and creating jobs.
A May survey by EPIC-MRA found roads were ranked the No. 1 issue for the first time."
